@@asicveg Think people have lost touch with how things work in reality or a consumer base. Asmon is a bit out of touch too because he's just farming content everywhere and anywhere he can.
Not really. People have sunk in years worth of play time into a genre that is the single most difficult genre when it comes to execution. What MMO genre needs is its players to diversify their games.
Terrible analogy. Its like a scientific method was found and used to predict the next brain surgeon. It happens this candidate is a child of a prestigious brain surgeon and their test scores are off the charts, so they decide to do an update to prove their scientific method is true, on a yearly basis. We are now halfway through this method and nothing has come back that their theory is incorrect as progress has been substantial and recorded every step of the way. You see there's a big difference between a 1 month old and a child with years of videos backing its progression. There's a clear difference. Also, it's like your just thick in the head and just ignore everytime they explain, WHY THEY ARE DOING IT THIS WAY.
This is actually the reason I left the Ashes discord several years ago. When I realized just how long it was going to take, I didn't want to be flooded by information in the discord, people whinging or whining about what details they do and don't have. I'm looking forward to the game, whenever it comes out. Short of some global nuclear war, it'll be here eventually. People waited for Star Citizen, no reason they won't wait for Ashes.
I think it's pretty obvious that Narc is just talking about this from his perspective, he wants them to show more content because then he can cover it and have open discussions with the community etc, whereas the casual player couldn't care less like Asmon, they will see it on release and decide then, if it's not fun, then don't play it. There are plenty of other games to keep you busy until its release.
Exactly. Content creators just whine for content to cover to grift off the work of others, by spewing 2 hours of nonsense on the hypothetical and theoretical meanings of a single sentence. Narc will be right back to hyping the game as soon as more content is realized. Right now he is like someone doubting his faith, and cursing God in a thunderstorm in the hopes of having his questions answered by a thunderbolt from the sky.
How long is somebody supposed to be patient and have to be happy while waiting an unknown amount of time? Games releasing unfinished isn't a new thing and people are becoming less and less accepting of it. Look at LE, beta was 2 years ago and they released 1.0 which is literally the exact same game, with multiplayer.
In all fairness he was (was) getting paid to generate the content so it was his job to do that. Clearly the money is running out now for scam games like this and star citizen. You can't even be bothered to do any research at all before forming an opinion and spouting it as fact.
I am a 2017 Kickstarter backer. I had issues with Ashes of Creation from 2018 to 2020 (for obvious reasons). I was hyped from 2021 to 2023 because of all the cool stuff they were showing. In 2024, I am concerned they might be trying to do much. I've waited almost 7 years for Ashes of Creation, and the game is still 3 years from release, so I'll have waited a DECADE for it. Is any game worth waiting that much time? No. I don't follow Ashes of Creation religiously, but I keep up to date with it. I'm looking forward to the Alpha Two.
I hate to say this man, but this game is a SCAM. This is yet another kickstarter scam, specifically designed to be in development forever, while embezzling the donation money. They even admit to this I the very title of the game. They are mocking you.

Ahh yes, there's definitely a concern of there being too many high quality MMOs in the near future... I don't think we have to worry about that. It has enough unique mechanics that it will have something to offer for many years. And there's always a risk of one game outclassing another by all kinds of different metrics, but let me ask this, what is the current "peak" game that outclasses all others today? There isn't one, because there are all different kinds of games with different features catering to different preferences. As long as they make a great game, many people will want to play it.
Clueless dude right above me. They are in UE5 engine, which releases revolutionary graphics updates every so often. To benefit from this all they need to do is update their version.
When Star Citizen started to get mentioned all I could think about was them having a $48,000 USD package you can buy. That they for some reason list as "in stock" even though it's digital items lol.

"All we're asking for is communication" No. That is the biggest trap in the world. He doesn't want communication. He wants them to tell him what he wants to hear. What the dude wants is the Ashes devs to sit him down, give him a pat on the head, and tell him that his 500 bucks wasn't thrown into a bonfire. But the problem for them is that he gets to decide what is and isn't a bonfire, not them.
First off, EVERYONE would lose their mind if it became an esports extraction shooter, so this isn't the "gotcha" that you think it is. Second he, like everyone else just wants them to actually be transparent. They really haven't be transparent.
It is on the unreal engine 5, literally the best graphical system to date. There is a vast difference between a single player game, vs an open world graphically
Wrong, mmos have these but mmo players want to feel like special people and want to play a mmo that makes them feel like they are on top or the best. Its why microtransactions are so popular because you can just buy your way into being special little boy. Gamers want good games but they don't play them for 2-5 years like they use to, too many games on the market. Its why the only mmo that will make people addicted will be the one developed in virtual reality. There are still people who become enticed by mmo but its literally like herd of 100000 zombies who just move from game to game and looking for that special feeling. The ‘frequent reports’ are now they scam people into donating money to them. The longer the development time, the more money they make. This game is never intended to be finished. They even secretly admit this in the name of the game.

The reason people are looking forward to this game is because it's going to be a social sandbox MMO, less WOW more EVE. and nobody has made an attempt with this much physical promise, plenty of people have sold something with no substance, but the dev here are doing all of the right things. This game is promising something no other game can offer, that's why it's so hyped, and why people are watching this game so intently. I think people need to remember that this is an alpha test, not even beta. a lot will change and this is just a way to gauge the progress of the game and not the finished product.

I knew this game wasn't going to make it when they seemed to be overly excited about their own product in the most early phases and showing it off to the public when they accomplished something "big" such as being able to create running for a character or a character being able to jump. Reminds me of a 1st year game development student figuring out a design program.
They’re doing everything a marketing team SHOULD do. They’re not making misleading trailers, and when things are ready they “showcase” it to give you a fundamental idea of how the system works. They show it when it’s ready, they aren’t making something fake yet people still have a problem of not seeing everything they’re working on.
It took them 8 years to get to this point, which to me seems to be half way through. Waiting 8 more years for this to fully come out is what I expect from what we've seen so far. 16 years to make a game, even if it's an MMO, is really not a good sign.

The first few years, Intrepid is a very small studio, and even now it's relatively small when compared to gaming giants like Riot or EA. It's obvious why they need to take this long, especially Ashes scope is so huge. They're also one of the studios that is transparent to the players about their upcoming game, with monthly showcases, discord community, and adjusting their game in development based on people feedback. This is exactly what was happening with Day of Dragons. A bunch of creators started bashing and doubting the game's promises and release dates, then the community went crazy and started causing issues because their money was involved. Now the the games out, its not the best, but its constantly being worked on and in a good place for the players who invested and you can clearly see the vision of the developers. Big comfort with this game is Steven for me personally. The way he talks about MMORPG I get the feeling he truely gets it! It does help that he started this project after ArcheAge introcued P2W. Which was exactly the same time I stopped.

Their mistake was to start talking about their game so much earlier compared to the expected release. People get bored easily, and amazing games come out without so much marketing.
I don't think it's a mistake because it allows them to get a lot of feedback throughout the process, they just have to put up with the hate as a consequence of that. This community reaction is very common. Immature people who can't handle their emotions get frustrated by a game taking longer than they want, and go from being excited fans to annoyed haters. At the end of the day, if AoC doesn't end up being what people want or is bad, people simply will move on regardless of if they're open or not during the process. And if it's a good game, all the people who were complaining and shitting on it will pretend like they never did that and no one will hold them accountable.
I mean it’s simple. If you say you’re going to do something then you can’t ppl will be mad (look at Overwatch 2). But if you plan on doing something, don’t tell anyone you’re going to do it, then can’t deliver, no one knew about it so no one will be mad. It’s almost always better to only talk about things you already have done for this reason
For many years, I’ve only seen news about those “new” MMORPGs but have never played any of them. And I don’t know when or if I will ever get to play any of them. The fact is, there have only been those same MMORPGs available for the past 10 years or more. Think about it, everyone is trashing blizzard and yet, wow, a game from so many years ago, is till the king of MMORPGs. I think people are so frustrated is because a lot of them have seen the golden era of MMORPGs and want that era to come back
even if ashes of creation comes out in 5 years and is the best game ever, there's 1000 different cosmetic packs of $500 mounts and other crap, everything in the game is already cheapened by that. you see someone on a cool mount and say " hey how'd you get that mount ? its so cool!!" and they will say "oh, yeah, I paid $500 10 years ago"
Only paradox I don't think totally applies: the more I know about Star Citizen, the more excited I get. Why? Because the tech they develop to make it work is groundbreaking.
To get this invested into something that is in Alpha is just insane. Especially on a project that has a this massive weird component to it. Let's be honest here, if they just making an MMO, the project would have entered beta by now. Where the hitch lies, is the evolving towns, they have to decide at how many races they'll stick to, give each races diametrically different styles from one another so that when ones race component appears in a town design, everyone can point and say: "Oh, it's that race design". And in my opinion is what is eating most of their dev time.
Kids have no chill these days, remember rd2 took 9 years to make. Old devs never used to show anything about a game in development aside from maybe a project name with basic concept and maybe a pre rendered trailer.
And rd2 is not that good, at least IMO. The typical release cadence for games was around 1-3 years and now it's more like 3-5. What we have to show for it is better graphics but altogether worse mechanics and systems. Modern games are effectively sidegrades to old gen but are more expensive, take much longer to make and require a lot more money to make. Rockstar can take 50 years to make a game and launch a 5/10 product and people would still defend it because they are on the trajectory of becoming blizzard 2.0 by relying on resting on their laurels from games and IPs made by people who no longer work at the company.

Honestly the lesson for game devs to learn is to never try to communicate or show off what you're working on until it's ready to ship. Not worth having to deal with all the mouth breathers who are incapable of understanding that it takes time to make things. They go to Taco Bell and the tacos come out of the window with the nice lady. That's as much as they can understand. The vast majority of people have never worked on something that's taken more than a couple of weeks to complete. They have no comprehension of the time and effort required for large projects. They just see the end result.
This is true for most games, but most games aren't building their game with their community. Ashes has to be this way if they're going to accomplish their goal.
Yup. This is how open development looks. But as Ashes and Star Citizen have proven, most people can't really comprehend the logistics behind open-development.
there has to be a contunue learning proces to increase spells or ability's . for example . cast a fireball 1M times and it becomes stronger for 0.01% . same for other spells . this will make each character more unique and will make it posible to have different specs to become top dps instead of like being a mage has ona particular spec to be top dps .
I don't understand why a game that sells a alpha test access for 500$, sells mtx and is gonna charge a monthly subscription to play it, gets so much attention.
Developing a kickstarter game is more lucrative than actually finishing it. This was their plan from the start. They even subtly tell you this in the game’s title. This is similar to how the USA never wants to finish a war, because wars are extremely lucrative.
If Intrepid shows something too soon, the mob yells, "It's going to be crap!" If they hold info back, the mob yells "vaporware scam!" Forget trying to please the mob, Intrepid. Release the game "when it is ready".
I think announcing a game so early isn’t the problem, its just that I get confused as I see people play it yet there’s no sign of it ever actually releasing
What? I thought this was supposed to be the game to end all games. The absolute apex of game development. The game that will make all other forms of media obsolete. The game that inspires Jesus H. Christ to return and become so enamored with our advancement as a society that he'll cure every disease and eradicate famine.
That may have been true if there was a projected timeline for development that they were sticking to but the money isn’t infinite and you have to pay dev salaries each year. Each year above their development projection means the game may not be completely funded.
The whole point of using unreal 5 is for the graphics and lighting... If they dont nail that then theu have failed entirely, because there are better options if that wasnt their priority or intention. This is actually a much bigger red flag than many realize. If they cant nail the looks and lighting with unreal 5 think about what other systems are gona be like.
I think Ashes biggest problem is they showcase something like the Weather, and it looks done. However, they are still working on it. Then it feels like they have all this shit done and they are just slow-walking to the finish line. I mean, they havent even fleshed out the base classes yet. That was my biggest draw to the game, and something I have been on the forums trying to give them input about.

There are plenty of other games to keep you busy until its release.
Exactly. Content creators just whine for content to cover to grift off the work of others, by spewing 2 hours of nonsense on the hypothetical and theoretical meanings of a single sentence.

@@lukaskonecny9992 it doesn’t but you atleast know what you want in your food…
Start citizen is the MMO, Squadron 42 is the single player in universe linked to your player single player campaign
Their mistake was to start talking about their game so much earlier compared to the expected release. People get bored easily, and amazing games come out without so much marketing.
Open development.
Asmon "Devs not communicating is a sign that the game is a scam " Also Asmon "I don't care if they don't communicate"
So, Narc posts this video with the most damning title. The next day, his stream is titled "Ashes hype, let's go bois".
Interesting, innit
It’s all for content
To get this invested into something that is in Alpha is just insane. Especially on a project that has a this massive weird component to it. Let's be honest here, if they just making an MMO, the project would have entered beta by now. Where the hitch lies, is the evolving towns, they have to decide at how many races they'll stick to, give each races diametrically different styles from one another so that when ones race component appears in a town design, everyone can point and say: "Oh, it's that race design". And in my opinion is what is eating most of their dev time.
Kids have no chill these days, remember rd2 took 9 years to make. Old devs never used to show anything about a game in development aside from maybe a project name with basic concept and maybe a pre rendered trailer.
its already been 7 yrs in development lol
@@gaddamitambit4481 so 2 years until release
well rd2 was made by some of the most experienced and talented developers in the world, the team behind this game is close to the opposite of that.
@@jimbiann only 2 yrs for an MMO thats a live service game, and alot of people are complaining that it actually looks lifeless and the combat is stale and not to mention OP said *RD2 TOOK 9 YEARS TO MAKE* yeah, a super experienced studio ROCKSTAR STUDIOS took 9 yrs for an actual good game, Intrepid is hardly Rockstar lul
But as Ashes and Star Citizen have proven, most people can't really comprehend the logistics behind open-development.
there has to be a contunue learning proces to increase spells or ability's . for example . cast a fireball 1M times and it becomes stronger for 0.01% . same for other spells . this will make each character more unique and will make it posible to have different specs to become top dps instead of like being a mage has ona particular spec to be top dps .
i like how asmon viewers actually think for themselves and not just blindly follow whatever Asmon says
0:22 Nooooo it's this 'tons of pizza cases' guy again 😮💨
Love that Asmon had a much better take than Narc. Swear to fucking god way too many people have been sucking down so much fucking doomium.
1:25 it's not just faith people put in this game, it's also money. F-up of this scale could destroy people's trust in crowd sourcing all together.
To be fair, the Riot mmo got nuked into 2077 or something so there is nothing to be excited about in that one
Remember he stated the game is funded from start to finish. No need to spend a cent on it's development. It will come out when it comes out.
That may have been true if there was a projected timeline for development that they were sticking to but the money isn’t infinite and you have to pay dev salaries each year. Each year above their development projection means the game may not be completely funded.
this game has always been a scam that guy has been just delusional
The whole point of using unreal 5 is for the graphics and lighting... If they dont nail that then theu have failed entirely, because there are better options if that wasnt their priority or intention. This is actually a much bigger red flag than many realize. If they cant nail the looks and lighting with unreal 5 think about what other systems are gona be like.
New shirt?
What does loosing faith in mean? Does the faith need to be secured tighter is that why it's loose.
Stop coping. Its never coming out.
It’s a scam game dude. They make all their money from delaying their release of the game and selling skins and accepting donations.
@@justinmadrid8712 You could have said that last year, but they shut down the thing that most people were willing to pay for: Alpha access. You can't pay for that right now. Skins? Maybe. Everybody sells them, plus I dont buy them. So, that part doesnt effect me.
@@cmike123 It’s a scam bro. You can pay 400 dollars to log in 3 days earlier than release lmao.
You have to pay to test the game. Normally you GET payed for that.
They refuse to show 99% of the game because of “spoilers”, but in reality only 1% of the game is finished.
Finally, the very name is the fake itself is a subtle hint that they will never finish creating this game.
