You can also use a syringe and force the fluid from the bleeder it’ll fill up faster than this way and won’t waste that much fluid and make a mess Pump the syringe a few times to get the air out and push the fluid in it takes like 2min to do the bleeding
Looks like pre-filling the slave cylinder really did the trick! Gonna be putting one of these on my 701 tonight hopefully, I think having seen this video will make the job much easier. Thank you!
My clutch went the day, eventually got my bike to garage via the RAC slave/s replaced. The clutch does require less pressure to change gears. You and Mavis are funny - 🏴 humour 🤣
When I fitted my Oberon slave cylinder to my Dorsoduro, I didn't know about priming the salve cylinder. However, I had no issues bleeding the clutch. Also, as I found out this morning, Supermofools, now do a headlight conversion (like yours), with high/low beam. Be safe, ride safe and have fun. Grumps.
fitted Oberon slave cylinder to my 690 failed at 86 miles had no issues bleeding the clutch. but priming the salve cylinder would make easy to bleed nice one chops
I used silkolene on my tiger 1050 the fully synthetic oil. I have to say I was really pleased with the results , gear changing smoother and engine felt smoother, good stuff me thinks 👍
Ive been blingin my 701 enduro during the lock down, they just suck money if you let them. I changed the slave mid last year, its good for piece of mind..
On my 701, the slave cylinder failed after 1500km. Check the connection of the wire, when the engine is very hot, mine went lose and I had no clutch again after I changed to Oberon.
Just installed the oberon slave 2 weeks ago on my 2019 690 Enduro R I thought i wouldn't need it yet since my bike only has 1,300 miles, but I was wrong, the gaskets were already destroyed If stock was still good, i would have replaced it anyway just for precaution.
Not really as he didn't seal the top with the syringe and was just getting a bit of fluid in to help bleed it through easier, but I get what you are saying/thinking, his issue was the plunger was sticking on the syringe.
The washers are called dowty or dowdy seals used on hydraulic systems,, and enjoy the videos what a bike John, mavis must have moist connections with the bikes,, in the garage ☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️
How much horsepower and torque is the ole 690 making? I cannot find a video of you dynoing it and the literature on that exhaust and setup is lacking in info.
Damn, just put Castrol oil into my bike, next time i'll use.....Silkolene, do you recommend by any chance??? Enjoying the Mavis and LCR show and the bike build, of course!
I'm not sure but could he have not threaded the zip ties thru the holes on the cover and pulled them tight from the back so they are not seen from the front side, not sure if I am talking rubbish, just a thought.
I was just thinking the same thing, mineral oil instead of Dot 4 as well? Not wishing to be clever after the fact or captain hindsight. Keep up the vids, top notch as ever and keeping us entertained, amused and informed in equal measures😂
Well done Chops, as usual a very informative and entertaining video. Got the Oberon slave to fit to my 701 so thanks for the priming tip. By the way how many bikes have you got? 🤩🤩🤩
Chops, question for you sir. Before this series is over, can you do a short video on overall budget? All us two wheel enthusiasts would love a video dedicated to see cost wise went into the SMCR. Now, I get you probably don’t want Mrs. Chops to see that! LOL. Also some of the stuff has been donated by sponsors, but we’d all be interested to see budget figures, just assign a full retail price to all the aftermarket parts, as well as the bike. Most of us have done our own projects, and realize this is a labour of love. But I always like to add up how much I’ve put in to my machines. Anyway, incredible video as always. Top-notch stuff! And so crackin funny. 🤣🔝🎬🎥💯💯💯
Evening Chopsy. Loving the build but don't Magura clutch master cylinders use mineral clutch fluid? Check the original reservoir cover as it will say on there.
I think you should have oiled the syringe rubber too 😂👍 I use syringes for brake bleeding, good way to pull fluid through the system if it's fully dry, no need for reverse bleeding as some people like to do.
Just loving this build series chopsie, must say the carbon is a very nice touch. Can't wait for the final reveal and the ripping up of the lanes. It's gonna be fuchs Ing awesome. Definitely have to compare with Crashkings 690
Hay chops, maybe arrange a Supermoto day in in the summer in a pub car park near you.if government allowed may get a good turn out keep adding the bling.
Does anyone ine have hands in experience with the arrow endcan vs the tekmo? Sound wise I imagine theyre both great but in terms of PC5 maps for the Tekmo header + Arrow can vs Tekmo header + Tekmo can! I think i prefer the look of the arrow as it comes in black with a white badge and that fits my builds theme more, I just dont wanna have to trek all the way to dyno and pay to get a custom map made!
been riding since 88 so obviously know sod all about bikes , whats the best /cheapest/fastest way to to get more power from a ktm 1290 super adventure , not that it needs it but im bored and lockdown has left me with a shit ton of money i have no use for lol

@@LambChopRides thanks for the reply :) I was thinking about getting some slip ons for my 2007 KTM 690 SM.. But hesitant cuz of the catalytic converter.
Yeah I thought I did originally but Tekmo is much nicer up close. Dyno tests will be the deciding factor and sound test of course. Did start it in the garage and actually sounds very nice! Hard to tell though in an enclosed space of course
Nice and interesting project mate. I know you started with an Akrapovic carbon heat shield but would be nice to add to your excel table the weight loss going from OEM heat shield to a carbon one. Or did you considered it when you weighted the tekmo pipe? Good luck with the project. Excited to hear that tekmo muffler 🤩
We should meet up this summer and compare the bikes 😜
Yes that would be epic matey 👍
@@LambChopRides This would be amazing, absolutely loving this project. :)
Its the Ship of Theseus of motorbikes. Once all the KTM parts have been replaced it'll be the most reliable 690 in the world!
You can also use a syringe and force the fluid from the bleeder it’ll fill up faster than this way and won’t waste that much fluid and make a mess
Pump the syringe a few times to get the air out and push the fluid in it takes like 2min to do the bleeding

A very entertaining watch. Did you mention Silkolene by any chance ? I never saw it ! I must have blinked once or twice> Keep them coming
Haha thanks Dad 👍😁

Yeah some seem fine some fail quickly.. I replaced it as heard to many stories like yours. Don't want to be out on a trip and it fails 😒
I used silkolene on my tiger 1050 the fully synthetic oil. I have to say I was really pleased with the results , gear changing smoother and engine felt smoother, good stuff me thinks 👍
Yeah I have some for the oil change on the H2 also and hoping it can improve the finding neutral problem 👍
Loving the bling, and the subtle product placement and promotion.
Love the video love the tips and love Mavis thanks chops keep them coming.
More innuendo than a Carry On! Brilliant. Keep it up Chopsy. Ooer...
The was another "Fuchs-ing" great episode. 😂
Super excited for the hyper. 👊🏽💨💨

OK good tip 👍
Do you need to flash or power comm for a slip on tekmo?
Love the over the top Fuchs stuff! Like Wayne's World 😅
Im going to have to watch this episode again as i missed what brand of oil to use. 🤷🏻♂️
For Fuchs sake..
Should have "includes a paid promotion by .... " :-)
Actually Ian even though no money changed hands I probably should have.. oh well 😅
i love the Ti fastners are already drilled for safety wire...just in case you are that crazed

What did you torque the tekmo header at?
👍👍 great stuff. Glad silkolene are on-board, very subtle as you say 😉👍👍
Haha couldn't resist having some fun with it 😄
Great video Chops... love the outtakes and couldn’t spot the Silkolene suggestions! Amazingly subtle 🤣
Haha good glad I got away with it 😅
You're KTM looking savage.
Should open the bleed nipple when using syringe
Not really as he didn't seal the top with the syringe and was just getting a bit of fluid in to help bleed it through easier, but I get what you are saying/thinking, his issue was the plunger was sticking on the syringe.
Where did you get the orange shift lever head? mine came blank.
nice, doing my oberon this week .. thnx (curious why no wings mate.. the orange badge fit well)
As I wanted the Tekmo header the Tekmo muffler works best with it. Also had the Wings on my 701 and just wanted to try something different
Great as usual chops and Mavis is speaking to you 😂👍
Yeah finally 😄 sure it won't last long 😅
hey chops. which one is more quiet arrow or tekmo if driving without dp killer?
The Tekmo is a bit quieter 👍

Thanks for the video's. I will look into some of those parts.
Hello. Have you installed Oberon, is your stock cylinder broken? My stock on a run of 4,000 km came out of standing. I changed it to the original one.
Always love your videos. You're never too serious 🤣.

@@LambChopRides When will the vid be up? :-)
Great Video Chops! I wonder if when filling the slave cylinder off the bike it might have helped undoing the bleed nipple ‘what ya think ?’

Yes absolutely... 🤣 I wouldn't mess about for comic value 😇
