I am one of the long-time followers of your channel. I started taking interests in PC building when the GTX 10 series were launched, and you are one of the best techs RUclipsr that offered a detailed review of the cards from the perspective of the user. Channels like Gamer Nexus is good too, but their perspective is more towards scientific, charts, and numbers.
Not a lot of people followed your advice because of your conservative takes, particularly when it comes to spending more to get more. I was one of them. It is like a learning curve, you disagree with his advice, build your own PC, live with it for years, only to find out that Tech Deals have a valid point.
Now, I am paying more attention to your advice, and I look forward for more build series from you. Cheers!

As always, great content and very helpful information. I built a 13600k/RX 6800 XT system over Black Friday very similar to your recommendations for about $1600. This was my first build since a Ryzen 5 1600 back in 2017 (and I went AMD mostly due to your videos back then. That system is still going strong!) When I came back to the market, you were the first channel I looked for, though I didn't even know if you were still around. Thank the Maker you were! I've always loved your presentation style and very well-researched content: never change!
My 5600x bottlenecks at 1080p and 1440p for gaming. Is the the 13600k fast enough over a 5800x3d?

I do like this content. I upgraded my machine back in 2020 from a 4670K to a 10600K still running a 1080TI I have 64GB of DDR4 3600MHZ RAM. since My monitor is only 1080p my PC still serves me pretty well. When I as upgrading I watch loads of Tech Deal video to help me decide of my purchases and get the best deal for my money.
The value discussions you have here are very helpful. I haven't built a PC in a minute and am looking to do it now. I think the same way but am not up on current tech.

As a cheap bastard, when I hear your very logical and sound arguments I both feel resistance ("ouch that's way too much money to spend on X") but also a kind of relief because some other voice inside of me thinks "live, for once, don't just limit yourself to cover the basics". I haven't done a build for some time and your video is very helpful , was comparing the new i5 vs i7 and yes not a lot of price difference between the two, but the i7 generates more heat and a lot of people say a 360 AIO is needed . And the i5 can run a smaller AIO like a 240 and some good savings to spend on something else.

Thank you for making this series. I have zero experience but wanted to learn and try building myself a gaming PC rather than buying pre-built or paying someone to build one for me. I've been worried I'd be in over my head (shocker, I am), but your videos have been really great in helping me understand the process/what to look for when picking parts.
You may have answered this in another video I haven't watched yet, and I apologise if so, but should the maker of a GPU matter? I see RTX 3070s with the same specs, but their prices vary depending on whether they're made by EVGA, Zotac, ASUS, etc. Is sticking with better-known brands worth the price increase?
It blows my mind that people still argue about 16gb vs 32gb on 1000-2000$ machines. I boot up RDR2 and within 10 minutes my RAM usage is 16gb with just a few things in the background.
True. 32 is the new 16. There's no more point in arguing.
I’m on 64GB DDR4 since Tech recommended it 2 years ago… was already on 32GB since 4yrs ago. I like it comfortable :)
@@mich5528 Yes. Two years ago I upgraded from 16GB to 32GB (DDR4) when MSFS 2020 recommended it. The cost was minimal. I just built an i5-13600K machine and got 32GB of DDR5 for only $123. I've been considering over the past couple of days whether I should just go ahead and take the jump to 64GB?
Yeah kudos to them i wish. Man 4 yrs back id have 10 tabs of chrome with photoshop open and it would eat 16gb in no time.

Hello and thank you for your long long uploads with excellent explaining on pc-ware! I love the channel! I have a question about SSD's. I recently found the Seagate Firecuda 530 with a longer lifespan than any other SSD. I would like to see your opinion about it.
Oops, I just saw this vid after I ordered parts for my new pc and based on your guide I messed up on getting a B760. Upgrading from a i7 7700k/gtx 1080ti to a i5 13600k/rtx 4070. I don't have a budget limit so I could have gone all they way to a i9 13900k/rtx 4090 but I much prefer energy efficient itx builds. Good guide, explains a lot to newer pc builders and I learned a few things. Most of the mainstream RUclips techs just point to getting the cheapest thing and don't think about it.
So b760 can be paired with 13600k with no problem?
Thank you ever so much for this guide. I viewed it in reverse - that is to say I placed my orders over the weekend and came upon your video only today, Monday. I am renewing a 2019 build - new CPU, RAM, and flushing out my HDDs for SSDs. I do not play games, but for a round of chess or solitaire on my iPad from time to time, and I am ever so conscious of heat in my PC cubby. I primarily use my PC for Photoshop/Lightroom and some humongous Excel spreadsheets. Consequently, I am porting over a GTX1660 to the new build. Photoshop, I recently read benefits more from processor channels and speed vs. the parallel power of a modern GPU. CORRECT me if I’m wrong! I’m using the i5 13600K, the Samsung 2TB M.2 (and using 2 old Samsung M.2 in secondary roles), and new Samsung 8TB SATA drives-will replace spinning storage. I’m using 2 sticks of 32 GB DDR5 ram. Seems like our minds were in sync. Thank you for giving me confirmation. Cheers

Good night! Your information is very useful, however I would ask you if you could answer some questions that I had left, since I think it is the only thing I need to decide on the correct components to build my new PC.
A brief summary: I already watched I don't know how many videos and reviews on the internet about the best combination of components for an i5 13600k and I ended with you, you explain everything very clearly, and what's more, the purpose of your video is for those people that we want to build a new pc today and that it lasts us about 5 years without touching anything, great! what I was looking for!
Now, I read the more than 500 comments and I did not find about the following points:
Regarding the motherboard:
1) wouldn't a z790 be better? I say this for 2 things in particular, one is that it is not necessary to update the bios, and 2nd, related to this, I saw many videos and comments, that the 600 series (updated for the 13 generation) do not get the most out of the 13 generation, and also result in some failures, that is to say, it would not be getting the most out of this processor, which is the case with the 700 series, and there would be no problem, appealing that more than 4 months have passed since its video, which Is there truth in all this? and,
2) regarding nvme m.2 and pci express 5.0 ports issue of shared lanes and M.2 slots not working if one PCIe socket is occupied, or if all M.2 slots are used, you lose half of the SATA ports and that pcie 5.0 currently does not work because there is still no gpu that comes in 5.0, and also that by sharing lanes then the m.2 of the 1st socket takes away performance from pcie5.0 16x reducing it to 8x but since it is 8x in 5.0 it is the same as a 16x in 4.0... I don't really understand it well if you could explain it better, because I have seen many comments about all this, so that would also reduce performance, both current and a the long run obviously... today, (also after 4 months) what can you tell me about all this point? Is there a motherboard where this specific bottleneck does not occur? or do not have 5.0 but if 4.0 and where the 16x work without taking away performance from the gpu or nvme etc?
Thank you in advance if you could please answer these questions since that is what I still need to know to buy everything and have my new PC (objective: trading!, -> several simultaneous trading graphics, software, many tabs, rss, everything at the same time, 2-3 monitors at the same time, that's why the right choice of a good mother too, and in free time I play games! I've been wanting to play again for a long time, (last time I played well was in the Age of Empires 2, Command and Conquer, the sims, sim city, the Commandos 1 and 2 etc..)

Thanks for the video. My old PC i7 4770k + RX 580X still working fine but it is so old that I am deny of upgrading to a Win 11 and with the launch of AM5 Socket really thinking of building a new machine as even my HAF932 casing is too old with no USB 3.0 port and required expensive 230mm fans replacement (Already replace once back then and it is costly) to make it work with a new system. Gave me a lot to think about and pointers to plan my build. Excellent video!!👍

Deep dive into a topic on specific PC part is far more relevant for me and it will contain some knowledge we could not find anywhere else on RUclips. Builds around specific Processor or PC builds in general target a certain viewerbase, that are actually looking to build a PC. Most of us are not in that process.
Deep dive on SSDs will age better than one on GPUs or CPUs. I've heard that question on this channel many times and The Actual History of SSDs would could be a star of this channel.

Very helpful and informative video. I'm building a mini itx pc with a 13600k 5600 ddr5 and rtx 3090 and for my needs I'm sure it will last me at least 5 more years. (my previous pc that I still have is an i5-6500 gtx 1060 and I have it since 2016-2017) so I won't upgrade for at least 4 years.

I paired a i5-13600K with a 3070ti all in a Cosair 4000D air flow, Cosair 1000w psu, 32gb, 2TB. It runs beautifully on my 32in 240hz Samsung Odessey. In 2-3 yrs I will most likely upgrade the gpu but for now it it runs great without breaking the bank.

Yeah 13600k is the sweet spot i paired it with Msi 4080 super expert, 32gb ddr5 ram, 850psu gold, pc case:y60 still debating if i want to get b670 mortar or a z790. I rather stick to msi lol
Hmm. Came into this to make sure I wasn't missing something (I'm old -- I started in IT in 1978, and worked on Arpanet). Took your advice, after considering the excellent Intel processor, I bought the Ryzen 9 7950X. Your video is good stuff, well done and informative. I like that you are very comfortable with your presentation. Again, well done. I just spent $2050, plus $162 tax. I haven't done that in a long time!

This is my guy! Always very logical with explaining what you need and you don’t. I have a system with a 9900k and 3070 and it does everything I need on 1440p 144hz monitor.
You are awesome dude, thank you for the info. One of the reasons why I like this CPU is because of that fact that although it uses a lot of power in comparison to let's say an i7-8700k, it's half of what an i9-13900k would use. I already have an RTX 3070 ti but my CPU is an i7-8700k and I'm looking for an upgrade and this just seems to be the sweet spot. That tip about the DDR4 vs DDR5 memory was very helpful. I do not believe that I will be purchasing an RTX 4090 anytime within the next 5 years.
It would be helpful to do an upgrade guide for different types of end users for different components. I’m sure this would be difficult, but some sort of interactive guide would really be cool.
Indeed, the challenge would be there are SO MANY CONFIGURATIONS, and more importantly, use cases, what do you cover?
If you have an AM4 motherboard, upgrade to the 5700x or the 5900x and a new cooler if you can afford it. If you have an old intel system, you’re basically doing a new system build to the 13600k; new cpu, motherboard, cooler, RAM, SSDs, etc.
@@TechDeals it would have to be a some what general case. Like 1500$ Intel and amd config. Do a bench mark between the 2, swap between ddr4 and 5 and do a bench mark, then do like a 2500 to 3k $ config and bench mark that as well. That way people will get an idea on if they really need 3k$ pc or a 1500$ pc would be enough for them.
That way they can also see if u need to cost cut, where would some one like you cost cut.
I think that would be an awesome video lol.
Infinite possibilities. I.e if you have a 6 year old 6700k, you can essentially throw everything away and start again
@@Chris-yc3mm yea, a full new build. If some one is looking for a new build, then this would be for them. Upgrading parts is always easier, u upgrade to what's compatible with your other stuff. Building a new? That needs some guidance :)

Thank you for the great video.... it gives some proportions but i was wondering if i can ask a question related to a build im trying to do, if you use 4080 GPU, on a z790 motherboard, Would there be a difference for using 2x16 DDR5 5600mhz(205 Euros in Portugal) to 4x16 DDR4 3600mhz (210 Euros in Portugal)? Which Ram would be preferable?

Thank you so much for this guide. I was able to build my gaming PC with similar configuration. Core i5 13600kf, msi mpg z790 edge WiFi ddr4, (gigabyte Aero g wasn't available, and I wanted the white board), Corsair 5000d airflow such a beautiful case. 32 GB Ram, but plan to get 32 GB more next month, 1tb wd black 770 m.2, plan to get 2tb more here next month, 850 watt gold psu, deep cool, Corsair elite h 150i AIO. And finally for GPU, initially thought for 4070ti, but it was selling for around 1000 usd, but I was able to get 4080 gigabyte Aero g for 1250 usd. And rs 7800 xtx was like 1450 usd. Very happy with the build, although I did overshoot the budget but I needed the aesthetic too. So far very happy with gaming performance :)
18:00 this guy speaks facts and I also bought a 1 GB HD as extra storage in the early 1990s. In today's dollars, you don't want to know how much that cost. It was for a Macintosh that had a base hard drive of about 32 MB.

My last pc build was in 2016 and the landscape has changed. Just built a new pc on am5 with ddr5. Went from an i5-6600k to a ryzen 9 7950x.

The 980 Pro 2TB costs around $270 here, so would that be a good substitute for a boot drive? It's for my Asus Vivobook OLED Laptop storage upgrade.
my ram usage excedes 16 gbs but no more then 22 gbs in multitasking ur point about it is really valid bcz upgrading from 16 to 32 GB is like a very great experience end peace of mind

Thanks for the (longish) video. I am still rocking an i7-6700 in January 2023, which was released back in July of 2015, and for graphics I am running an RTX 2060 Super, on 24GB of slow (and mixed) RAM :( I don't game, but this system still (surprisingly) works for photo and video editing in 4K. The new release of DaVinci Resolve Studio actually seems to run better / smoother than Resolve 17 did. Having said that, still thinking about an i5-13600 build though. Thanks again.
One question I always had in my mind.. considering there are power cuts and i need a min to switch off my pc, do i need to keep the UPS wattage in mind while going for 850+ wattage PSU ? Will it switch off my pc if i have say 1kva /650 watts UPS and a psu of 850 gold.
This is my go to channel for any pc hardware related suggestions but haven't found an answer for this.. or may be i have missed it.

I'm about to enter the start of "year three" of my 10th-Gen i7 build. Two great years of gaming on my 10700F with a 3070Ti... it's a great system... no need to upgrade on this end.
I have a rtx 4080 just like the one shown in your video. however i have a 5900x cpu and been thinking about upgrading to iin 13700k is that even a noticable upgrade? or should i wait untill the ryzen 7000 series and ddr5 is more affordable?

I have a b350 mobo and an old Ryzen 5 1600. Do yall think upgrading to a ryzen 9 is a good idea or should I go i5 13600k + a new mobo? What would be the difference?
Just paired a 13600K with a Z690 motherboard, because board is last gen I got it at a discount and allowed me to reuse my DDR4 memory and Installed a 1tb 990 pro. The biggest budget build I've ever done Is the best build I've done!

I own an i5 8400 and i couldnt agree more with your final thoughts. Even on lowest possible settings and 720p resolution games like Elden Ring and Cyberpunk will still drop to ~40 fps in CPU demanding areas. Recently upgraded from GTX 1050ti to RX 6600 but the fps drops are identical as CPU is simply not fast enough. Looking to buy either i5 12400f or R5 5600 as they both fit perfectly into my budget!

Built a competent system around a 7700x. It's for my audio studio, with video production, and just for giggles some gaming on the side . It's lean (86W PPT) and fast (regular clock 5.49, boost 5.9 GHz). It's built to run very quiet but it's powerful. Cinebench r23 this morning 20100 all core, single core 1990-ish)
You'd be depending on "winning" the "silicone lottery", but I do belivieve the "x" series AMD Zen 4 parts are the better bin.
It's not the only electrical piece of gear in the studio, and it adds up to the electricity bill. (I live in Europe.)
If my primary concern is crunching video files with Handbrake. I am Looking for a desktop that will do this fast. Right now I have a laptop i5 3230 2.60 with 8g ram and it takes as long to compress the file as it does to watch the movie? what sort of specs should I be looking for. Gaming is not a consideration. any help is appreciated.
