They probably don't want any chance of particulates getting inside the package...you pay that much for a 1911 platform you don't want to have to clean it out of the box...
I know nothing about guns but I'd think its not good when the mag doesn't drop out freely. Im just picturing a john wick scene and that happening lol the Movie would be over very quickly.

I would of also liked to see a nicer case for the price but I guess thats not really a big deal. Either way congrats on the purchase its very nice as is. Update us on your thoughts after you put some rounds through it please.

I’m looking at a STI DVC Limited and DVC Steel. I target shoot and do not compete. I want something very special that is a pure joy to shoot at my indoor range. Do you have any recommendations for a STI model, specifically the two I mentioned?
@Igor Pecuh The DVC Steel is a great gun as is the Limited. I did not dislike a single thing about either gun. The new DVC Steel for 2019 with have a small C-Mor red dot and the return of the top attached slide racker (like the 2017 mode). They are different guns! The Steel has only a red dot and the Limited only metal sights. They are both very well made. Wholesale on the Limited is $2400 and $3200 for the Steel. Use these as reference points for your purchase. At a price point of $3200 I’d rather have the Omni. More versatile and shoots just as flat, if not more flat. The Limited, at $2400 is a good deal and street price might find it at $2800-3000. Good luck.

This gun is known to failure to feed and eject and also cracking compensator (first port).

You're right generally speaking. STI fixed that issue with a new magazine design, and using another company to manufacture magazines for them.
