I don’t even want him back now but I’m highly interested in the psychology behind it and why people do rebound relationships. Diving deep into this is so fascinating and sad.
I’m literally in the same boat, I wouldn’t take someone back after that but it’s definitely interesting to see why people can’t cope with being alone or by themselves and must find someone to fill their void. Most people who monkey branch relationships are broken in some capacity and look to others to complete them when in reality a healthy relationship is two people sharing their completeness

@@jimbotfoodie1811 I would say that’ true a good amount of the time because women have like 2-10 guys in their dms at any moment begging essentially to be picked so it’s easy to just fill the void so to speak, someone who is focused on emotional and self development/improvement will sit back and analyze what happened and how to can be better going forward. This step is most often skimmed over by women but used by men
The simple short answer why people monkey branch and do rebounds is: insecurity and low self-esteem
If he/she is in rebound relationship or anytype of relationship, let it happen - wish her/him luck and move on - that's all need to be done - Don't dwell in it - move on and walk away nicely..Do your inner work - do your therapy - go to gym - fitness - yoga - whatever that improve yourslef and don't turn back.
Protocol is walk away and move on. Period. If he/she ever want to reach out - you will know it - and they don't , you'll know also. So, whatever scenario come along the way, your remain the same => walk away and move on.
The real question is why would you want them back !!!???

Honeymoon phase in rebound relationships are shorter than normal relationships as well. I feel like honeymoon phase in a normal relationship that moves at a slow and steady pace lasts for a year or so. But in rebounds, because everything is moving so quickly and it’s not built on anything solid those honeymoon phase only last like maybe 3 months. Either way...focus on yourself! Let them be.

This is true.. I have been in rebounds as the BF and not me doing the rebound. We loved fast.. moved in together within 2-3 months.. we were pretty much over with by month 5-7.. then just stuck living together for a couple more months.. lasted about 10 months overall.

My ex is avoidant and avoided all the problems and let them fester till she fell out of love snd literally a month later she started to talk to my “friend” theyre not dating but theyre are talking. She tells him “ive never felt this way before” which shes told me that before.
I can forgive her if she wants to go out and date. But I will not forgive her if she sleeps with him.

Ex reached out, called crying and begging for forgiveness for all the mistakes she made in the relationship and for breaking up. Says she loves me and now realizes she cant be without me. We talked for some days.

We was together 13 years and not until she saw me with another did you see another and projected what we had onto him and moved to fast and married and 3 months later reached out to me and I said I don't talk to married woman, that was 2 year's after she left.

We were on good terms never had a fight or an argument. We were looking at places to rent and looking at wedding rings. We were talking about marriage, buying a house together and future plans. One sunday we had lunch together and on Thursday 4 days after the Sunday she ended everything out of no where.
She said I wasnt approved by her family to marry her.

4.5 years, she’s with the receptionist of the shop my car is being worked on. A week after she ended it through text. Happens to everyone, you’re not alone, I can barely sleep, it gets not only better, you get to work on yourself and be ok single, they are hiding and distracted, hold a as a badge of honor. I think there are so many complicating factors to this. Like, how does this play out when there are kids involved, from either one of the two people involved in the rebound, or both. And how does the rebound being long-distance factor in with the timing or strength of the rebound? Also, I presume the wording that if it's three to four months (i.e., a couple of months) following the break-up, your partner is in a rebound means that if they got together with someone else in the interim, rather than just simply taking a snapshot. Because, while rebound relationships can potentially turn into (often unhealthy and dissatisfactory) over time, it can take months for a rebound to build up to its peak... It'd be really interesting to hear more about this kind of dynamic.
I don't think there is a time limit on a rebound could be years if there's still strong feelings for the ex

My ex was in love with his ex from 2017.. we met 2020 broke up August. 2021.. now he's with a new girl, through all th B.S. we went through for him... he's portraying like he's changed and he's on cloud 9.. sucks.. wish I never let myself go that low for someone... My ex and I officially broke up in December 2021. We didnt stop sleeping with eachother until July 2022. and that was only becuase I was having issues finishing in bed. September 2022, she jumped into a long distance relationship with a 22 y.o. college kid (we are both 27). we still talk almost everyday, but i miss her alot. in December she said we couldn't see eachother physically anymore, but can still talk on the phone and text. we still keep up with eachothers social media, and tbh she tells me alot about her relationship. I miss her alot, and we are still best friends. But i never took our relationship as seriously as I should have in the past. the 22 y.o. is definitely using her as a rebound (in fact he monkey branched to her from his toxic ex who he broke up with 7 times apparently) from what she tells me. So i'm pretty sure they are both rebounding. Just recently she said we are okay to see eachother in person again, and is just gonna have to tell her boyfriend that he is going to have to accept that. I know we are headed in the right direction. but he is coming into town valentines day weekend so i have to figure out how to occupy myself for those 3 days. party anyone?
My ex and I dated for 4 months, she was an avoidant person and I was anxious because of the avoidant personality and it caused confusion, so I broke it off for a week, and I thought about it and got back with her, a week later she kissed me and went to another city and started posting pictures with another guy the same night I was messaging her on social media. But watching this trying to feel better because my ex rebounded 1 week after me (2 year long relationship) and then realising now that I WAS also the rebound of his 5 year long ex (we met 1 month after his ex).. And it doesn't matter if it lasts or not, you need to cut out that person from your life, you don't need him, you need yourself. (but i think it will not last, as she was going after him for so long because he was unavailable, but now that she caught him and ruined your relationship, she'll not be satisfied with the taste of the meat, its no longer thrilling to hunt something that gave in).
I been there and it won't last forever. How you get them is how you lose them. When ppl say they don't last for less than 2 or 3 months isn't the case. It can go for 1 to 2 years or so. Just remember the grass is never greener on the other side. He will never be fully happy. He lose that happiness.

I had a few rebound relationships. Mainly because I couldn’t be alone. I was desperately lonely. BUT one relationship was for a specific reason I wanted to share my insight on. I was in a toxic relationship with a guy (named Mark) & I knew I needed to get out & there was another guy (we’ll call him Sam) that was very interested in dating me for quite some time & offered to help me get out of the relationship with Mark. I was reluctant but Sam promised that if I gave him a shot, he’d make sure Mark never bothered me again. I wasn’t really interested in Sam but I agreed & we had a 4 month fling. It too became toxic and I left Sam. But was grateful he got me away from Mark. Sometimes you need to burn a bridge down so you don’t cross it again. It wasn’t mature or right. But I entered a rebound for protection & safety to get me away from an angry alcoholic. I don’t regret it. It was a necessary evil that worked & at the time felt like my only way out.
