  • Remedy surprised everybody by releasing their first expansion for the amazing Alan Wake 2. Titled Night Springs, the expansion takes us through three short stories starring alternative versions of Rose Marigold, Jesse Faden and Tim Breaker. But is Night Springs worthy of Alan Wake 2 or is it just cheap fan service. Let's find out.
Thank you so much for watching and if you enjoyed the video, please subscribe!

Okay so the thing is that there were supposed to be 2 extra NightSprings DLC episodes. One called "Cold Case" and the other one called "Altered World Event". In Cold Case you were supposed to play as Alex Casey, but as you might know, the voice actor James Mccaffrey passed away due to cancer. James wasn't able to complete the work he was supposed to do, so they cut his episode.
The Altered World Event episode was probably going to be an episode where you play as FBC agent Kieran Estevez. And since in the main story Estevez and Casey sort of got together at the end, Alex Casey was probably going to have a role as a side character in her episode as well. Just like Jesse Faden and Tim Breaker both showed up in eachother's episodes.
But yeah, they scrapped both these episodes because of James' death presumably and they didn't want to finish these episodes without him.
Maybe they will still release the episodes eventually, just like they are still producing the Max Payne 1 & 2 remakes without him.
It really sucks we only got 3 out of the 5 episodes we should have gotten but this does explain why the DLC is so short.
I just wanted to let you all know a bit more context and maybe, just maybe they just postponed the 2 missing episodes to figure out how to respectfully finish them without James' help.

I mean, how did you NOT know that Night Springs would be basically like a twilight zone like presentation? Anyway, yeah, I mean it as a cute little experience l, but the gameplay aspect itself…was incredibly tedious, blowing the F out of enemies as rose was kinda cathartic I won’t lie, the combat in 2/3 was even worse, i have hopes the next dlc might be a little better, well see, but hey, $7.5 for 3 hours ain’t too bad.

    • @rioichiFIN
      @rioichiFIN  2 месяца назад +7

Oh, I guess I worded it a bit poorly. The presentation style did not surprise me but I was expecting it to focus more on Alan. Something similar to American Nightmare where he gets trapped inside of an episode of Night Springs.

@@iamdmcBecause the 15 dollar package includes 2 DLCs, of which Night Springs is one of them. 15 ÷ 2 = 7,50. So both DLCs both cost 7,50 you just buy both in a package and have to wait until the second one is released

Way too short, nothing but re-used locations, mechanics, and gameplay, half-assed loredump in the third act. It's kinda unbelievable to think they spent the past couple months on just this. I REALLY hope the lake house is the best game dlc that has ever existed bc even for the low price of the expansion, it's disappointing at best.

I somehow expected something like this. I didn't want to buy it but because it has to be bought to get the Lake House I thought I might as well buy it now.
I didn't like the idea and I was afraid that they would bring Rose in because of some fan comments and so they did. Personally I just can't stand ditsy characters like that anywhere at all and I don't enjoy the gringe type of humour in general... hrrrr... However it wasn't all that bad. Rose tinted colour was a nice touch. But man, fandom going too far can be quite scary.
Me being a new Remedy games fan liked to see some Control here in a form of Jesse. Coffee world puzzles and the warehouse part was the best part of the dlc. Cult and coffee remarks were really funny. It was the most coherent episode.
I don't know anything about Quantum break so all those references were lost on me but it was the most interesting episode.
Fighting with all the ammo you can carry was boring. I couldn't help but to think that it was for the haters of the game. Here, blast away it says. Guns and ammo felt though like they had no potent. I was expecting more story than mindless blasting. But the idea that Rose of all characters had the heavy weaponry added some amusement in it.
I generally dislike fan services. I understand that it can be sometimes necessary though. Giving it here in the dlc is a fitting place I presume. And maybe it was a thank you to the fans who have been so supportive of the game.
I liked that they managed to put the main aspects of the game in different episodes. Love and the echo of the main bad guy in first, puzzles and cult in second and all that confusion and trying to get out of somewhere in the last episode.
Mr. 🚪 however was absolutely the best thing. I could listen to him all day! 😉

I highly recommend trying Quantum Break if you have the chance. I dont love it as much as I do Alan Wake and Control but it's still a great game. Nice to get a bit more story, but I am slightly dissapointed that it didn't add a bit of combat mini games, so that the game had more replayablity. Once ou have fully experienced the game's story, there isn't much to do, since the only other thing I enjoy other than the story was combat. But since combat was relatively limited to fit more room for mystery solving and story, I was hoping combat would be a more involved in expantions. Control had mini games in one of it's DLCs, so I was anticipating something along those lines.

i was absolutly expecting something like this (kinda like american nightmare)
the name itself shows it was not about alan...
    now is it worth it?
    i think it is...
the first chapter is not something that adds to the story, buuuuuuuuuuut its super fun and hilarious
2nd and SPECILLY 3rd chapters are an expansion to the actual remedy multiverse , and are quite good (too bad they are too short)
north star do not add to alan wake , but again i was expecting this as this is a nightsprings episode so it was expected to either be a what if... or an expanded content to control (kinda what they did in control with alan wake AWE), and i too was dissapointed that this was not control jesse at first , but then the 3rd episode of the dlc explained this and i simply loved it as it was NOT the same Jesse
Time Breaker explains and expands the remedy multiverse, conecting the stories to 2 characters, alan and warlin... as alan in a way IS the master of many world (or he is intended to be in his own story path), i simply wish that this episode was longer to explore more of this character as it was trully interested and very cleverly made (specially the final part where you go back to an early DOS game)
    and the music was fantastic...
    is it worth it?
i think it is as long as you do not expect something related to the main game or something conclusive (this are teasers for whats gonna come in control 2 , alan wake 3 or a new IP that will replace quantum)
the absolute downside is that this are very short episodes and you can finish each one in half an hour (it took me around an hour and half to finish the 3)

It did though. We know that Rose is an "artist" of sorts with her fan fictions, which might explain how she was "contacting" Alan in the main game. The town made a channel between artists. We also learn a bit more about Door, and how Tim Breaker is involved with him. Remember in the story how he says he doesn't know how but he has a feeling Door has to do with everything? This could be why. There are hints at answers for the main story. Of course, they can't answer everything until AW3. AW2 already has a fairly complete story with appropriate cliff hangers, to extend it immediately would be doing a disservice to the self-contained story.
