I load a std pressure smokeless load (8.2-gr of Universal/Lee .452-255RF) and the full bp load (same bullet SPG lubed over 40-gr of 3F) that I mentioned to you on facebook . It's been a long time since I've shot the reduced power "cowboy" loads....or even bought factory .45 Colt loads.
This was very informative, thank you! This helped me decide on what ammo I will be buying, as I am in the process of getting a single action army clone. Much appreciated. :) I think I will be going with the HSMs.
Awesome video!👍 Thanks! HSM is like $5 cheaper at my Cabela's too! Try testing Armscor and Ammo Inc 45 Colt if you can get around to it. Not enough people post on these kind of loads.
I used to use HSM .45 LC 200 grain cowboy loads in my Uberti 1858 new model army revolver using my Howell .45 LC conversion cylinder and I tended to hit low and about 4 inches to the left at 30 feet distance away. I now use Winchester super x .45 LC 250 grain cowboy loads in the same piece and I tend to hit higher now but still about 4 inches to the left at about 30 feet distance. The HSM 200 grain .45 LC loads have a velocity of about 750 feet per second and put out about 250 foot pounds of energy. My new rounds go at about the same velocity but put out about 300 foot pounds of energy. Your 250 grain HSM .45 LC loads have a velocity of about 860 feet per second. I made a video and posted it on my channel of me trying out my new loads in my piece on Thursday evening after I bought a couple of boxes of them at Bass pro shops on Thursday afternoon. I paid 65 dollars for each box of 50 of my new loads so 130 total for both boxes
Yes buddy some guns like some some brands of ammo and some different grain, you got to find out what suits your gun the best, my Taylor shoots everything about right, without hitting towards left or right, but I have seen this happened to one of my other gun which will shoot low and left with some particular ammo
No it's not. Hsm as in hunter's shack munitions is made in Montana. Hornady is based in Nebraska!!! Don't type stupid things that are misinformation!!! Saying hsm is made by Hornady is a big f@ck up!!!
@@Wildwestwrangler you are correct HSM is owned by the Travis Campbell Family of Stevinsonville Montana and it is independent of Horndy. I stand corrected.

Once i finish with these factory loads, than I will start to reload my own
Such a beautiful firearm. Wheel guns will never go out of style.

HSM uses Oregon Trail laser cast bullets which explains why they look more shiny.
This ammo is also good for those those cartridge 45 long colt uberti or pietta conversion cylinders?!
yes, these are not +P or higher pressure, actually these are lower velocity rounds, so good for any colt 45 gun

The HSM 250 grain ammo is rated at 850 fps I believe
