Yes! And if you raise those children well, they'll take care of you when that time comes. And then they don't "owe" you anything. It's mind boggling how some parents treat their kids. Love is supposed to be unconditional but it's not that way for some and that's extremely sad.
It's so infuriating too because some who would be kind and loving parents don't have kids or hold off because of understanding their responsibility to care for the life they are bringing into the world and they want to do it well. I know if money wasn't an issue I'd have at least 2 of my own and probably want to open my home to foster children as well to give them a safe and healthy place to live and grow until returning home or aging out. But instead I have none because I just graduated college and only have a $30k/year job and $20k in loans to pay off, and I don't want to risk my child's health by them being potentially malnourished or living in unsafe conditions in my current very cheap apartment. If I fell pregnant, I would figure it out, but I would never intentionally have a child yet until I can give them a safe home and proper care.
In the US, it’s actually written into a lot of state laws that you cannot bill your grown offspring for raising them. Which is so sad because that means there have been a lot of cases like this..

I sometimes wonder if this has something to do with the changes to the economy over the decades and where people as they get older are worried about their pensions - during Covid, we heard from some commentators who have expressed genuine concerns about the traditional family structures being broken down and it’s impact on society, of how the traditional family is being attacked, etc - at age 53 and coming from a traditional Irish Catholic family background, aside from my own situation as an older gay man, to a certain extent, I do empathise with this, but I’m also far more concerned about these impacts on future generations going forward, as many of my cousins of my own generation back home in Ireland are parents of very young children themselves and I freely admit that I am worried for thier futures
I've heard that the random touching also happens to pregnant women. It's so crazy how because there's something different, people feel entitled to touch strangers without their consent or just talking to them first! When I first saw my future sister in law after she and my brother got engaged, I asked to see the ring. I've known her for a few years, she's going to be part of my family, and I still didn't grab her hand.
I had my stomach touched by a stranger when I was pregnant with my first - I was 19 and looked about 15. The lady saw me, and her eyes lit up like we were family. She walked right up and put her hands on either side of my belly and told me I was having a girl. My son is 21 now. 😂😂
I'm a wheelchair user and people want to touch me and my chair all the time. People even try to push me and move me, several times I've been injured by someone doing this. Disabled youtubers have talked about this too. And it's not just touching but also very personal questions about our health, sex lives etc the entitl3ment is bizarre
I work at a vet and we have a client who has rescued so many dogs over the years that she's started naming them things like "Why Not" or "What"-short for "What The Hell". It cracks me up when she calls to make appts for them. I can't wait to see what she comes up with for the next rescue.
Haha yeah, that happens. I used to rescue and foster cats and dogs. I had a trio of sibling kittens I just named girl, boy and the blond one, in spanish. Nena, Nene and Rubia. I didn't want to get too attached and, their names would be changed after adoption anyway. I ended up staying with Rubi and Nene aka Nene Gordo. Also, I have a cat simply named Tortie because she's technically a tortie, but we call her Tortilla, Tortellini or Torta, which means cake in spanish. Recently named a pair of sisters Milly and Vanilly which got a laugh at the vets. I always intend to give them up for adoption, but a few of them end up staying.
The people we adopted my childhood dog from had been calling her the name I also happened to have. I was a little upset when my mom insisted we change the dog's name to reduce confusion.

She should meet my brother's cat: Speenvarken (lit. "suckling pig") We usually just call her Speen (lit. "dummy/pacifier") so this lady would probably throw a fit for hearing a cat being named after an object. Even though she got her full name because she never shuts up, and reminded her first owners of a screaming piglet. I can't imagine someone trying to change her name. Especially a stranger who knows nothing about my brother, the cat, or how he got her.
Pretty sure she would have hated how we named my dogs growing up. First we had a Saint Bernard named Face (after a member of the A-Team), then we had a shepherd mix named Bozo.
My cat went missing for a couple weeks this summer. I alerted all the neighbours on our local Facebook page...and a local Karen said no wonder he ran away because of his name. He's called Buttface. My response was "He's a cat! He doesn't care what his name is!" Turns out he'd found an old ladies house with a cat flap n was visiting her 😅
My dog's name is RJ, but he responds to anything said in an excitable, high pitched voice. My siblings and parents turned it into a fun game to see how ridiculous we could get and still have him respond. The most common ones are "rat" (hes a chihuahua mix) and "piss baby" and "stupid dummy head."
Probably better than my cats “name.” My fur baby, Ghost, had 4 kittens that I hadn’t planned on keeping any so I called them by their fur colors; Tiger, Tortie, Cow (black and white). The last one is also black and white but he has a black spot right under his nose. So, as a joke I started calling him Hitler 🙃 but now I’ve decided to keep him and he answers to that name. So I’ve decided to only call him that within the house and to family but if/when I bring him to the vet or talk about him to a stranger, his legal name will be Michi (Spanish nickname for cat)

Charging your child for what they cost over time is ridiculous! No child asks to be born. Basically everything Roly said. On top of that, I’m sure that mother expected at least of her children to take care of her in her old age… unhinged.
Walking in during a gyno appointment? Oh hellll no! I wouldn't even go in with my teenager now, unless he asks me to come along. I can't imagine barging in on my adult child get a pelvic exam, especially AFTER being told I'm not welcome. Good on the hospital staff for locking the door!
The kid was like 24 who still does that to their child. I get wanting parent’s support at some appointments with doctors when your older but it’s usually to wait outside or drive you home knowing after surgery you cannot do x, y and z. The gyno is very different. I get a mum coming in with a young daughter who may have gotten her period early and staying in the room but at her side during the exam or ensuring the daughter feels comfortable with the doctor before stepping outside at certain points. We just hit the pre teen years and we are just about ready for me to step out of his paediatrician appointments.
@@kristalpower292 I once had to take my son to the hospital. I asked if he wanted me to go in with him, but he wanted his friend by his side instead. So I waited in the waiting room until a nurse called me in, as per my son's request. He was 16. I did the same for my son when he was 10, and didn't want me in the room while his pants were down at the doctor's office. It's called respecting your child. More parents should do it
The story of the kid wanting to see the tattoo would have been such a good moment to work on consent instead of teaching the kid to just randomly touch folks because they want to. I remember the first guy I ever saw with a lot of piercings. I was fascinated and my mom guided me through going over to compliment him. He got the biggest grin and enthusiastically told me about all his piercings. It was a really good experience and learning moment for me and he seemed really happy to get to share that. Not to say that everyone has to react like that, but there were so many ways to turn that story (in video) into a positive interaction for everyone.
$700k is about average for raising a kid to 18 in the US. But that does include literally everything from pregnancy expenses to a home with more bedrooms. Considering mom likely didn't repay her parents for raising her, she really is trying to benefit from all sides. Good on them for getting out of that house.
lol I named my first ever pet, a goldfish, Tuna. Because my brain thought it made perfect sense because she was a fish. A Tuna fish. I regretted it a bit when my bio-dad repeatedly made jokes about going fishing in my tank to make a tuna sandwich. I always guarded that fish tank whenever he came to visit.

@Arizonacan69 I agree it really is healing cutting off family that are toxic. A lot of people tell you they're blood and you should work it out or deal with it. Which you should never have to endure abuse and toxicity from anyone, especially family who should be better. I can relate to abusive family and it really sucks when you have to live with them still.

When I was 18 my mom and I went on a cruise to the Bahamas. When we got there she found out she couldn’t swim with the dolphins. She literally threw herself on the floor in the middle of the grand Bahama hotel, kicking and screaming like a two year old…. I got drunk….

The most recent incident in Canada where a kid in a track meet was targeted by someone's parents harrassed and accused her of being transgender (she just had short hair) It. Is. FUCKED UP.
I can relate to Shaaba's story about people grabbing her hand to see her ring, although I'm not a famous RUclipsr. I worked in a jewelry store and I bought a really nice, sparkly diamond and 5 stone wedding band using my discount. As I was showing customers merchandise they would suddenly grab my left hand to get a closer look at my ring. It always creeped me out! It got to the point where I would subconsciously curl my fingers for fear someone would try to take it off my hand! I also have several piercings and have had creepy men ask me if I have any piercings "below the belt". Ewww.
The mom that gave an invoice is my mom 100% But she was shamed into stopping it by surrounding family after I blabbed 😂 But yeah, the guilt and feeling like a burden part still affects me, even tho I go to therapy and am medicated 😪

As a disabled person with a service dog, the unsolicited touching is horrific. Even when my SD is wearing patches that say "DO NOT PET" some people will still do it. I've even had people push my crutches over with their feet nearly tripping me if I'm not paying attention or had them place their hands on my shoulders like to move me... ig?? I have PTSD so it doesn't end well and they wonder why 😒
This video cased my eyes to widen and jaw to drop like 6 times, these people are just trying to ruin people's lives I hope you two do more collabs together in the future
The inappropriate touching of a pregnant belly is unreal. Complete strangers think they have the right to rub your belly without asking. I used to wear a t-shirt saying 'touch the belly at your own peril', 'Hands off the belly', 'you didn't make it so don't touch it' and 'use your eyes not your hands
I have hip length hair (and have for years) and people grab my hair all the time! I work in a grocery store and wear my hair pulled back into a ponytail or braid most of the time and they’ll grab my hair and say something like “your hair is so pretty”. It happens wayyyy too often and it’s quite anxiety inducing
I recently had surgery, and I was getting a lot of compliments on my tattoos from random nurses, techs, receptionists, etc.... and was happily answering questions about them as I went through the pre-op. But once I was in the operating room, getting set up and arranged, I was surrounded my HANDSY nurses! These women kept PETTING my tattoos (I have various, mostly floral, tattoos from my elbows to my fingers) while complimenting them, and one nurse lifted my entire arm straight up in the air, excitedly calling to another nurse to come look at the tattoo. It was a moment of, "did she just do that? Is that what they do when you're UNDER? Just start sharing weird things you see on my body?" Like, I'm already in a vulnerable situation. Could we keep our hands to ourselves, at least until I'm unconscious!
So, that money-loving parent is basically using child labor until they aren't children anymore and they they just fully become an indentured servant by means of debt the parent caused.
I used to work at a veterinary hospital and I remember how fun it was when we heard a really unique or witty pet name. We would all get a good chuckle about it. I can’t think of one off the cuff but some were excellent!! Creative people out there. ❤😂
On the subject of being touched by strangers; I used to never experience this until I got my crow tattoo. It's beautifully done and takes up half my arm. So of course people notice it and like it. But SOME people will grab my arm to turn it to see the tail, which wraps around. I've only had customers do this so I just kinda put up with it, but my manager recently gave me the go-ahead to slap their hand if they do it again. lol
I have 4 children and as a parent, that second story in INSANE! I do have rules for my children to teach them the value of a dollar and the rules for my older children is that if they are living under my roof, they must either be in school or working. My 17 year old daughter is still in school and is also working, she does not pay rent or anything but she does have to put a portion of her check into savings to get her started for when she leaves for college and I will match that just to give her a head start. Our jobs as a parent is to prepare our children to be adults and survive in the real world. A child should never be made to feel like they should have to pay for being born, some people just should not be allowed to procreate!

I’m shocked at the stories of people touching others because they have tattoos. The only person to ever touch my tattoos/piercings/glasses without consent was my niece. And she was 4 years old. Now she’s almost 6 and has learned (and usually remembers) to ask for permission before touching people. How are grown adults doing that?
I have an Assistance Dog and the amount of parents who tell their kids “Don’t pat that dog because it’ll bite you” is ridiculous. I never used to feel confident enough to say anything (my dog’s vest often has do not pat, do not distract or stop signs and similar phrasing on it - always with the words Assistance Dog and usually something along the lines of medical alert with medical symbols as well) - it’s highly obvious to any adult that my dog who is in a non pet friendly place is a working dog and that’s why she can’t be pet/distracted (not because she is aggressive - this fact is also enforced by the fact that she is always very focused on her job and has a very calm energy while she is working, very responsive to my commands and is always either in a heel next to me or actively guiding me with my hand on her harness handle). I got sick and tired of parents using my very well trained absolutely not aggressive dog to basically fear monger their kids into not touching or patting her and probably creating a life long distrust of working/assistance dogs in their young kids. Especially because my own family (mom and dad and other family) had their parents do this to them and they are still wary around any animals especially dogs and I’ve faced a lot of ableism from them regarding my own Assistance Dog and how ‘no dogs should be allowed in stores’ because they didn’t know that working dogs in stores and in public absolutely cannot be aggressive or a danger to people/kids. Now when I have parents tell their kids that I kindly educate and say “actually my dog is very friendly and she’d never hurt you because she is a working dog. She can’t be pet because then she wouldn’t be able to do her job” if the parents take that well without too much offence I’ll often add an extra bit about always asking a pets owner if you can approach or pet them before you do, if you don’t know them. I’ve had a lot of parents look really sheepish when I basically confront what they are telling their kids and I wonder if maybe that’s what they were told about any dog growing up because a lot of these people in their 40-50’s are really shock and awed surprised that my extremely well trained dog that is calmly ignoring an entire shopping malls worth of crowds, distractions, food and loud noises including screaming kids running around - isn’t going to just randomly latch her teeth onto any kid that comes within reach… 😳
As someone who worked at a vet, that little laugh after confirming the name Prawn was most likely because they really liked it lol, I LOVED hearing all of the fun names and hated when we'd get yet another Bella or Princess or Fluffy

When folks find out I'm a transman, they always ask me if I've had "the surgery" aka what's in my pants. I tell them it's none of their business, and then watch them become frustrated becuz I'm not giving into a fckd up entitled question. I sometimes wonder if this has something to do with the changes to the economy over the decades and where people as they get older are worried about their pensions - during Covid, we heard from some commentators who have expressed genuine concerns about the traditional family structures being broken down and it’s impact on society, of how the traditional family is being attacked, etc - at age 53 and coming from a traditional Irish Catholic family background, aside from my own situation as an older gay man, to a certain extent, I do empathise with this, but I’m also far more concerned about these impacts on future generations going forward, as many of my cousins of my own generation back home in Ireland are parents of very young children themselves and I freely admit that I am worried for thier futures

I've heard that the random touching also happens to pregnant women. It's so crazy how because there's something different, people feel entitled to touch strangers without their consent or just talking to them first! When I first saw my future sister in law after she and my brother got engaged, I asked to see the ring. I've known her for a few years, she's going to be part of my family, and I still didn't grab her hand.

I work at a vet and we have a client who has rescued so many dogs over the years that she's started naming them things like "Why Not" or "What"-short for "What The Hell". It cracks me up when she calls to make appts for them. I can't wait to see what she comes up with for the next rescue.
Haha yeah, that happens. I used to rescue and foster cats and dogs. I had a trio of sibling kittens I just named girl, boy and the blond one, in spanish. Nena, Nene and Rubia. I didn't want to get too attached and, their names would be changed after adoption anyway. I ended up staying with Rubi and Nene aka Nene Gordo. Also, I have a cat simply named Tortie because she's technically a tortie, but we call her Tortilla, Tortellini or Torta, which means cake in spanish.

So I’ve decided to only call him that within the house and to family but if/when I bring him to the vet or talk about him to a stranger, his legal name will be Michi (Spanish nickname for cat)

The kid was like 24 who still does that to their child. I get wanting parent’s support at some appointments with doctors when your older but it’s usually to wait outside or drive you home knowing after surgery you cannot do x, y and z. The gyno is very different. I get a mum coming in with a young daughter who may have gotten her period early and staying in the room but at her side during the exam or ensuring the daughter feels comfortable with the doctor before stepping outside at certain points. We just hit the pre teen years and we are just about ready for me to step out of his paediatrician appointments.

The story of the kid wanting to see the tattoo would have been such a good moment to work on consent instead of teaching the kid to just randomly touch folks because they want to.
I remember the first guy I ever saw with a lot of piercings. I was fascinated and my mom guided me through going over to compliment him. He got the biggest grin and enthusiastically told me about all his piercings. It was a really good experience and learning moment for me and he seemed really happy to get to share that. Not to say that everyone has to react like that, but there were so many ways to turn that story (in video) into a positive interaction for everyone.

I can relate to Shaaba's story about people grabbing her hand to see her ring, although I'm not a famous RUclipsr. I worked in a jewelry store and I bought a really nice, sparkly diamond and 5 stone wedding band using my discount. As I was showing customers merchandise they would suddenly grab my left hand to get a closer look at my ring. It always creeped me out! It got to the point where I would subconsciously curl my fingers for fear someone would try to take it off my hand! I also have several piercings and have had creepy men ask me if I have any piercings "below the belt". Ewww.

As a disabled person with a service dog, the unsolicited touching is horrific. Even when my SD is wearing patches that say "DO NOT PET" some people will still do it. I've even had people push my crutches over with their feet nearly tripping me if I'm not paying attention or had them place their hands on my shoulders like to move me... ig?? I have PTSD so it doesn't end well and they wonder why 😒

I work in a grocery store and wear my hair pulled back into a ponytail or braid most of the time and they’ll grab my hair and say something like “your hair is so pretty”. I recently had surgery, and I was getting a lot of compliments on my tattoos from random nurses, techs, receptionists, etc.... and was happily answering questions about them as I went through the pre-op.
But once I was in the operating room, getting set up and arranged, I was surrounded my HANDSY nurses! These women kept PETTING my tattoos (I have various, mostly floral, tattoos from my elbows to my fingers) while complimenting them, and one nurse lifted my entire arm straight up in the air, excitedly calling to another nurse to come look at the tattoo.
It was a moment of, "did she just do that? Is that what they do when you're UNDER? Just start sharing weird things you see on my body?"
Like, I'm already in a vulnerable situation. Could we keep our hands to ourselves, at least until I'm unconscious!
So, that money-loving parent is basically using child labor until they aren't children anymore and they they just fully become an indentured servant by means of debt the parent caused.

On the subject of being touched by strangers; I used to never experience this until I got my crow tattoo. It's beautifully done and takes up half my arm. So of course people notice it and like it. But SOME people will grab my arm to turn it to see the tail, which wraps around. I've only had customers do this so I just kinda put up with it, but my manager recently gave me the go-ahead to slap their hand if they do it again. lol
I have 4 children and as a parent, that second story in INSANE! I do have rules for my children to teach them the value of a dollar and the rules for my older children is that if they are living under my roof, they must either be in school or working. My 17 year old daughter is still in school and is also working, she does not pay rent or anything but she does have to put a portion of her check into savings to get her started for when she leaves for college and I will match that just to give her a head start. Our jobs as a parent is to prepare our children to be adults and survive in the real world. A child should never be made to feel like they should have to pay for being born, some people just should not be allowed to procreate!

I’m shocked at the stories of people touching others because they have tattoos. The only person to ever touch my tattoos/piercings/glasses without consent was my niece. And she was 4 years old. Now she’s almost 6 and has learned (and usually remembers) to ask for permission before touching people. How are grown adults doing that?

I have an Assistance Dog and the amount of parents who tell their kids “Don’t pat that dog because it’ll bite you” is ridiculous. I never used to feel confident enough to say anything (my dog’s vest often has do not pat, do not distract or stop signs and similar phrasing on it - always with the words Assistance Dog and usually something along the lines of medical alert with medical symbols as well) - it’s highly obvious to any adult that my dog who is in a non pet friendly place is a working dog and that’s why she can’t be pet/distracted (not because she is aggressive - this fact is also enforced by the fact that she is always very focused on her job and has a very calm energy while she is working, very responsive to my commands and is always either in a heel next to me or actively guiding me with my hand on her harness handle).
I got sick and tired of parents using my very well trained absolutely not aggressive dog to basically fear monger their kids into not touching or patting her and probably creating a life long distrust of working/assistance dogs in their young kids. Especially because my own family (mom and dad and other family) had their parents do this to them and they are still wary around any animals especially dogs and I’ve faced a lot of ableism from them regarding my own Assistance Dog and how ‘no dogs should be allowed in stores’ because they didn’t know that working dogs in stores and in public absolutely cannot be aggressive or a danger to people/kids.
Now when I have parents tell their kids that I kindly educate and say “actually my dog is very friendly and she’d never hurt you because she is a working dog. She can’t be pet because then she wouldn’t be able to do her job” if the parents take that well without too much offence I’ll often add an extra bit about always asking a pets owner if you can approach or pet them before you do, if you don’t know them.
I’ve had a lot of parents look really sheepish when I basically confront what they are telling their kids and I wonder if maybe that’s what they were told about any dog growing up because a lot of these people in their 40-50’s are really shock and awed surprised that my extremely well trained dog that is calmly ignoring an entire shopping malls worth of crowds, distractions, food and loud noises including screaming kids running around - isn’t going to just randomly latch her teeth onto any kid that comes within reach… 😳
