- How to build a garden office in 20 days - step by step instructions
In this video I have put together the full build of a block built low/no maintenance garden office / man cave / she shed. This was built in 20 days from start to finish. I explain the process as well as share some important tips and information. I hope the video helps if you are self building. We can also build one for you so please give us a call if you need a quote.

@@darrenthebuilder thanks can I have your contact details please
Tearing down the old shed was a lot of work but building the new building was humungus. thank you for showing us you hard work.
an excellent book if you are considering building a shed. While you may not choose to build one exactly as shown in this book ruclips.net/user/postUgkxT9ExVpR-3A-9rpRqx8vzXKZ3BMMTg_KH , the information found in here would be useful in any shed building project. The information is well presented, with color photos throughout. As was noted in a previous review, though some dimensions are given, the complete plans must be ordered elsewhere. I ordered the plans for the gambrel shed and did notice a few discrepancies between the book and plans however.
This is one comprehensive video unlike other garden room fitters who just provides clips here and there. Very well done chaps.
The best build video i have ever seen, the workmen were second to none & described things very clearly 11/10.
Watched this from start to finish in about three sittings. Hats off to you both, really enjoyed the build, absolutely professional finish, thank you for producing the video and it’s editing and voiceover,, must have taken you as long to film, edit as the build. Fantastic guys
I accidentally click this video link and watched from beginning to end. Totally impressed amazing building skills and the finish product was awesome; I had no idea that that flat roof buildings have storm straps I’m worried about next doors office building now 😂. Great video and interesting narration many thanks .
Great job guys. I lost a stone in weight just watching you, that's a lot of graft, hats off to you.
I’ve been following you for a few weeks now. I think you describe and do jobs excellent.
Keep your hard work up and showing the cowboys how it’s supposed to be done. 👍👍
Excellent workmanship from start to finish, and the transformation is amazing. It looks solid and will be there for a few years maintenance-free 😊.
This is hands down THE best step by step outbuilding video on RUclips-well done brother and thank you for sharing! 👍🏻
Good staff. Now I feel like I've gained all the knowledge I need to do such a small SQ for my upcoming 😅😜 project. Must be the first video, 1+hrs long, that I've watched without skipping to the end of the finished product. Great work guys
Louisiana loves it! You have a wonderful job for your spouse who will certainly love her new office! Thank you for all the tips! I appreciate it so much! Enjoy the new space!
Saw this a while back and saved for when I was ready to start my shed planning. Guy's it's great. What got me was the chilled way you said you had to carry all your material through the house in buckets (foundation stage) so it took a bit longer. WHAAAT? LMAO for sure.
This is spectacular! You had me totally invested. My battery is on 15% now on 9% leaving this comment. I have dishes to wash, needed to watch the whole video.
My back feels like its aching watching you both do such a great job. Thank you for sharing. Wonder if you can build one for me but slightly larger.
Absolutely brilliant ! Well done, best video I have seen re building garden office, very well explained, you have inspired me chaps.
I'm not even building an office in my garden nor do I intend too but I watched the whole video.. It was very enjoyable. Thank you for sharing.
Brilliant video, so helpful for people who might want to do the same thing. You guys make it look so easy and the finish is of a superb quality, and such a quick turnaround as well. This is definitely the way to go for a low maintenance garden office/sunroom with various options (warm roof, cold roof, blocks or bricks etc.) and I'd guess would add quite a bit of value to a property as well.
Awesome
Long. Video but enjoyed your detailed work
Wish you were in Southampton I would get you to come and do some work here
All the best for your company ❤️
you have gave me confidence thank you this channel is gonna blow up
Great video - very informative and wonerful to see a build using lots of manual tools and basic power tools. Making the furruing strips and k-rendering the exterior with mesh were particulalrly useful, and I also like the speed skim device.
Not only informative but a very enjoyable watch also. Particularly enjoyed watching you plaster, have to admire the skill.
You guys are awesome very well expanded and very professional! Thank you for sharing I will be building something similar! And this is very helpful 👍🏽
Wow, that thing could withstand a hurricane, well done!
Great video the only thing I would of done differently Is in the roof noggins I would of drilled 3no 50mm holes that way the noggins don’t block the air flow between the front vented soffit and the back vented soffit other than that looks great 👍
Very nice. I appreciate how you explain each step with a reason and understanding on “why”. Job well done. I believe I have the courage to pull off the build with a few help from friends.
I don`t put likes on many videos but this one deserves it. All the best to you, your family and your crew. x
👍
Now That's what I call Great building I've always seen people build stuff but building it the way that y'all did was awesome lot of work went into it y'all got a lot of pride and we all work I am proud of you and I don't even know who you are but I will know like I do today y'all have a great day have a great Valentine's Day more power to you baby y'all know you got it going on thank you so much for the video I will be looking forward to more
Nice. Now a video about making the fences nice und putting gravel around the garden office. would complete the perfect looks.
Absolutely great video guys, watched from start to finish in one go. This is what I hope to build but with large French doors at the front. Looking from the top along neighbouring gardens it seems like everyone on the street has done this......how many are yours!? 🙂
Just the one 😁
I know I have things I have to do but I can’t not watch this. Well done guys👍🏻🇦🇺.
Excellent Job and a Very Good Voice for Media Reporting too !!
For a DIY bricky you got all the skills. Why did you guys not put rebab in the foundation and the walls. You also did not use any brickforce. and for plastering you need joint tape over the joins to stop cracking.
Amazing job guys its a pleasure to watch you work
I think it's been said but, I'm going to say it again, best video I've seen and I've watched plenty. Literally going to use this as a guide. Good work lads, well done. oh, liked and subscribed too.
The important thing that the two are installers congratulations blessings
Well Done Guy's...I Really Loved Watching You 2 Making A Garden Office...So Neat And Proper...All Your Hard Work And It's Beautiful.

You to
Great video and top work! you make it look easy, the sign of the true expert. Really informative. Cheers!
Отличная работа. Прямо мая мечта. Мнебы то же такую домик. Спасибо ребята.
Great job - you guys did a professional job!
Very neat and beautiful. small and cute congratulation.
Thats awesome, what would be even more awesome if there was an underground bunker going right under the garden. Really good build guys,.
The 2.5 m height limit is a bit of a pain if you want decent insulation in the floor and ceiling. It's not just the eaves that must be below 2.5m. The whole roof must be if any part is within TWO meters of the boundary.
Brilliant detailed instructional video and a testament to your excellent standard of work / ethics. It will inspire others to have a go / perhaps take up one of the trades.
You two make such an awesome team congratulations on a great job.
Excellent job, shame I didn't see this before I built my extension I may well have gone for a fibreglass roof instead of rubber-my next project is a man cave😊 Foundation and two walls against existing walls and will use some of the tips I saw on here👍🏻
Good work fella, I to am a builder and like to see others alike, Keep up the good work .
RESPECT! This was very fun and educational to watch. Thank you for sharing the fruits of your labor! So the roof is just osb + resin + uv sealant?
Thanks, there is also fibreglass mesh sheets which are amalgamated with the resin.
Good Job as workmanship!👌👍
Watching the plastering is therapeutic. Hehe. We don't see a lot of plastering in the states.
When laying bricks why do the corners get built up higher .
Great finish ❤
Nice upload thanks for posting
Amazing work guys !!!
Oh, just seen a Pro-tip….. using the shovel to ease the plaster board up the bottom of the wall in to place….🔨🍺👍🎉🍺💥💥🍺🔨
Good job sir.. i from indonesia support you💪🥰
Literally every backyard on this street has one of these!
Didn't get bored for a second! Amazing work guys 👏 where are you based and what areas do you cover?
Looks very tidy, did you make sure you earthed the metal switch plate? Only ask as even some electricians forget to do that to this day and just put the earths in connectors without taking an earth to the plate. I also ask as those cable coming into the top of the fuseboard like that doesn't look great
Magnificent job.
Cracking job guys it looks brilliant
Nice job well done lads 👍
Brilliant video!
Love this , What is the basic cost for something like this to be built please?
Los castillos, cadenas, acero de columna para reforzar y evitar caídas en temblores faltaron
Excellent video! So much to like here, thank you.
The only builds I’ll be building is mansions in Minecraft and renovating houses in house flipper.
Doesn’t take me 20 days tho.
Probably few hours.
Great job guys I believe this could be end to homelessness in the u.k
Nice job guys❤
Fair play to you both on that looks good 👍 keep up the good work
Muy hermoso el video, mejor que una película de james bond
Great work, well explained. how much the total project cost.
Did you do all your neighbors out houses too?? They all look similar 🙂
Top top work. Amazing 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾💯💥
Great video
I had been meaning to do something similar for quite long time but didn't get the chance till I saw your clips. You inspired me to do it brav. Thanks alot. Just a quick question. Now it is getting colder how is the room? I am worried it might be very cold in the deep winter.
Thanks
I haven’t been there but I imagine it’s warm when heated as it’s well insulated
Useful video, thanks! Won't the timber you attached to the top course of bricks absorb moisture if you use mortar to attach? Thanks!
really interesting! Thanks
Looks great. How did you know that the ground was level all the way round?
Good job
I'd use some rebar in this type of foundation ..
Awesome video, 1 question,, is it the size of the shed that meant that concrete piers weren't necessary, I'm doing a similar build business is 9m long. And I've seen that piers should be every 8 feet, please advise, thanks
How come you didn’t put metal in the concrete base? And why insulate the floor but not the walls with double cavity. And how come yr concrete was so sloppy hardly any stone ? Sorry for all the questions
Good job guys ! How you will decorate I wonder
Do you need to tape the vapour barrier?
Superb
nice job but why didn't make the slope with cement?
Dud you need planning for this size building?
ya made smoothing those walls so easy...and no taping? i wonder why ppl use it now...
Thanks I used tape it’s just translucent mesh tape so hard to see. You can see it if you pause certain angles
When I'm working on my knees, my buttcrack usually shows, but you guys don't seem to have that problem. What briefs or boxers can you recommend?
Our building model might be slightly different in that we would typically use drywall mud tape the joints finish everything out and sand it before painting. And you plaster everything but I noticed you didn't tape any of the joints. Do you ever use drywall mud or is it always plaster in the UK
Hi yes some people do use drywall mud but it’s not as common. I did use a transparent fibreglass mesh tape on all joints before skimming. It’s standard practice. I noticed it’s hard to see the tape in the video but it’s there.
Generally? Well done, but the concrete layer is thick enough that you should use reinforcement, otherwise the concrete will crack 😉
Nice workin well done ✅
Cant belive you didnt use rebar😮
Nice job but...the red brick is for fascia, correct? not building weight? The 2 x 4 timber should not be in contact with wet cement, should have used a membrane to separate the two different materials. Also, did not see you plumbing the building when using the blocks.
Thanks. These red bricks are called engineering bricks and used for foundations. It is normal practice in the UK to bed the wall plate on to cement. We plumb with levels as we build the corners
Peace
@@darrenthebuilder okay thank you. Beautiful!
I've never seen a building footings without steel nor walls that's not strengthen with rods..And I've built hundreds of houses..
Hi, how much something like this will cost, same size sort
you have layed the underlay wrong for the laminate flooring.
Would like your details please looking forward to a similar build with same 3 x 4 dimensions but an extension..Let me know how to reach you
