  • How to build a garden office in 20 days - step by step instructions
    In this video I have put together the full build of a block built low/no maintenance garden office / man cave / she shed. This was built in 20 days from start to finish. I explain the process as well as share some important tips and information. I hope the video helps if you are self building. We can also build one for you so please give us a call if you need a quote.

    an excellent book if you are considering building a shed. While you may not choose to build one exactly as shown in this book ruclips.net/user/postUgkxT9ExVpR-3A-9rpRqx8vzXKZ3BMMTg_KH , the information found in here would be useful in any shed building project. The information is well presented, with color photos throughout. As was noted in a previous review, though some dimensions are given, the complete plans must be ordered elsewhere. I ordered the plans for the gambrel shed and did notice a few discrepancies between the book and plans however.

    Saw this a while back and saved for when I was ready to start my shed planning. Guy's it's great. What got me was the chilled way you said you had to carry all your material through the house in buckets (foundation stage) so it took a bit longer. WHAAAT? LMAO for sure.

    Brilliant video, so helpful for people who might want to do the same thing. You guys make it look so easy and the finish is of a superb quality, and such a quick turnaround as well. This is definitely the way to go for a low maintenance garden office/sunroom with various options (warm roof, cold roof, blocks or bricks etc.) and I'd guess would add quite a bit of value to a property as well.

    The 2.5 m height limit is a bit of a pain if you want decent insulation in the floor and ceiling. It's not just the eaves that must be below 2.5m. The whole roof must be if any part is within TWO meters of the boundary.

    Our building model might be slightly different in that we would typically use drywall mud tape the joints finish everything out and sand it before painting. And you plaster everything but I noticed you didn't tape any of the joints. Do you ever use drywall mud or is it always plaster in the UK

    • @darrenthebuilder
      @darrenthebuilder  2 года назад

      Hi yes some people do use drywall mud but it’s not as common. I did use a transparent fibreglass mesh tape on all joints before skimming. It’s standard practice. I noticed it’s hard to see the tape in the video but it’s there.

    Nice job but...the red brick is for fascia, correct? not building weight? The 2 x 4 timber should not be in contact with wet cement, should have used a membrane to separate the two different materials. Also, did not see you plumbing the building when using the blocks.

    • @darrenthebuilder
      @darrenthebuilder  2 года назад

      Thanks. These red bricks are called engineering bricks and used for foundations. It is normal practice in the UK to bed the wall plate on to cement. We plumb with levels as we build the corners
