Wait till you have to get a new battery for your car....or have a hail storm damage your panels. There is more to it than just the initial investment.

Spacecoastz, Certainly a strong enough Florida storm can do in any house but solar panels are pretty robust. I highly doubt an average Florida hail storm would do any damage to her panels (as someone who owns solar panels, I speak from experience). As to the car battery, Tesla warrants its batteries for 8 years and between 100k & 150k miles (depending on the model). Any car with more than 100,000 miles may at some point need repairs, whether its an EV's battery or a gasoline car's transmission, engine valves, etc. I think her point was over time she will get a return on her investment and that solar/EVs aren't just good for the environment, but also the wallet.

@@EVRider I have found over the last 40 years that generally speaking engines and transmissions are fairly reliable, especially if the owner is diligent on maintenance. My largest expense with vehicles by far is associated with "air conditioning". Failed compressors, evaporators, condensers, hoses, etc. I think with EV's the system is still the same.
