There's the GMC Hummer with its t-tops and a few EVs with sunroofs, but I can't think of a single full convertible EV, or even plug-in hybrid convertible outside of the Wrangler currently sold in the U.S.

Several reasons: He wanted to get as close to a pure EV experience as possible and he wanted an open-air vehicle. Wranglers and 4 Runners are very different vehicles. I'm surprised you'd think someone that wants a Wrangler would want a 4 Runner, or vice-versa. I'd say a Bronco would be a more likely competitor to a Wrangler 4xe. But even there, Ford doesn't offer a plug-in hybrid Bronco.

The Ottocast has a type of auto brightness. You can set the display between 1-10. I keep mine set at 10 for daytime and 5 for nighttime. As for anti-theft, another review unit I was sent from a different manufacturer did not have the anti-theft feature but there is a ton of similar stuff out there, so there might be another one with the same anti-theft feature. I've been happy with the Ottocast. It's performed flawlessly since I did the review a year ago.

Thanks! My Ford OEM adapter did eventually arrive in Sept. after ordering it the 1st day it was available in Feb. You are correct, the adapters only work at V3 & higher Superchargers. Yea Caddy should have really offered a factory sunroof. I loved popping out the aftermarket one on those perfect Florida days when cruising around town or to the beach.

I had a 2014 SR. I'm sorry to say that bike wasn't impressive in terms of build quality/reliability but the current-gen SR/F, SR/S and DSR/X have come a long way. The batteries are bigger now (17.3 kWh). Whether they'll last longer I can't say but they do come with a 5-year, unlimited miles warranty. I'm regularly getting 120 real mixed riding miles with my 2020 SR/F since Zero did a factory warranty battery swap on mine, or about 100 interstate miles here in Florida. I've currently got more than 23,000 miles on mine. I'm still happy with it. If I was buying tomorrow, based on the current EV market here in the U.S., I'd probably go with a Zero SR/S. The LiveWires are cool bikes and initital quality seems great but the batteries are just too small for my riding style. My biggest knock on Zero is they still aren't offering DC charging. But then again, no one in the U.S. is currently offering both AC L2 & DC now that Energica is in bankruptcy court. @@EVRider I'm interested in the Verge and Fuell, but I'm not intersted in being someone's guinea pig--definitely not buying another bike on spec. Did that once, and it cost me 15k for a total of 900 miles. It's either Livewire or Zero for now... It seems that I will have to wait through this year to see what '25 will bring me for options. Unfortunately I don't have mine anymore. But they are great cars. You have 2 true modern classics! When I sold mine it had 60k miles. The battery was degrading, going from an average of 38 miles per charge to 30 miles per charge, with the range extender regularly kicking in after about 25 or so miles.

However, Zero has been in business since 2006, and Zero is closing in on a new funding round for a little bit more than $120 million, according to a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, so I'd hazard to guess private investors think its viability remains decent. Keep in mind he was showing off the battery box frame. According to Shandoka the battery box frame has mounting points for styled componants that customers might request.

@what1864 Somebody gave you incorrect information. Jeep warrants the 4xe's battery for 8-years or 100,000 miles. If a battery were to fail during that time period Jeep would be obligated to do a warranty replacement.

Given the age, complexity and rarity of the ELR, I'd personally only consider one as a collectible as opposed to a daily driver. Given how low the production numbers were, it's in a different class than the CTS and ATS. Parts that were unique to the ELR for things like headlights could be tough to find. The biggest concern is probably the cost to replace the battery when the time comes.

Correct. In the U.S. it would really only make sense in areas that are golf cart friendly, such as in the many master-planned communities here in Florida.

How so? The family hasn't owned it since 2022. What's left of Energica is owned by Ideanomics until bankruptcy proceedings are completed. The family business that originally launched Energica (CRP Group) has been around for more than four decades.
