Seth! It’s PJ you guys hooked me up on my trip across the country. I made it back to Oregon on that tank you guys fitted up for me. That’s a story I’ll never forget. I hope my old tank made it to the wall of fame haha
Fellow Wisconsin Motorcycle Builder, self taught, i just have to say these how to’s are awesome, wish I had these available back in the Day keep up the good work!
If you are broke or you are leaving on a trip and it would take 2 weeks to get the right copper washers, you can totally reuse them, i just scrub them on a piece of 600grit sandpaper. Just clean them good after, dont want to grit all up in your forks giblets. I do this all the time on diesels, thay run at way higher psi, no leaks.
This video is ridiculous! You do NOT need to strip the forks to fit extensions, just unscrew the factory cap and screw on the extension below it! I fitted mine in 10 minutes! No problems with safety after 5 years of riding, AS LONG as the threaded section is between the yokes on the triple tree
We believe they are, we did get the bike used so it is possible they are an aftermarket part. Either way it won't impact the outcome of this modification
We only have caps for 39mm forks, I believe the XG750's are 37mm but I'm not positive. If you measure yours and they're actually 39mm the one's shown in the video should work
thats right , its actually the lowest part of the threaded extension part that take the weight !!! thats not a lot of metal . have seen them break on longer applications 😐
Not if the threaded part is inbetween the fork triple tree yokes. There is NO tension, strain, pressure on the threads if fitted there. I have had 4 inch ones on my harley fxdwg for several years with no problems.
@@martinrobertson7307do you ever carry a passenger if so how often and where did you get them from material etc …. Looking to getting a set of +3 inch . I’d love to know how reliable they are

Funny how the one inch makes it look so much cooler.
I gotta consider doing that.
All you need to know about your forks, thanks for posting.
Good stuff guys ! Thanks for the post !

🔥 looks good
IN PART 2?!?!? This is worst than watching Game of Thrones when it first came out lol
Those spacers make it easier to change fork oil without taking tension off the spring ?
never seen one break myself but after a while you could not find or buy them anywhere
Not sure if i missed it on the video but do you need to do all this to add the fork cap extensions or can you just put them on
All you have to do for the fork cap extensions is put them on. We just did the fork rebuild since we were also removing the fender mounts.

KOOL!
do brake lines still fit ?
Are those the factory fork springs? They look like progressive springs

Do you have extension cap for 2018 xg750 street?

can you stack to 3" for a +6?
Not recommended
in the old days they where call fork slugs they could be very dangerest because the threaded parts are weaker than one piece tube

Why are front fenders hated among "chopper" builders?
Bro wat years is your bike
It's a 2001
1" why bother? I could see 2" over but 4" over tubes are the way ta go IMO.
If you're going to rebuild the forks why not do it right and fit new tubes??
Ive heard fork tube extensions are dangrous. What do you all think?
The sing song rising inflection in your voice is hard to take.
Go big or go home
