Just had a really positive experience today after a really terrible experience a few years ago… last time I had one it was painful and I couldn’t tolerate it. Today I cried in the waiting room with nerves. The nurse asked if there was anything she could do to make it easier - I asked the nurse if I could insert the speculum myself. She then opened it up which felt stretchy but not painful. I asked her to count down from 5 as she twiddled the brush too so I knew when it was going to end… I asked “is that it??” when she was done as it was so much better than what I’ve had previously. I felt the brush but it wasn’t painful at all. If you’re nervous communicate this to your nurse and hopefully it will help.
Got my first smear tomorrow. Really nervous about it but I want it done and keep thinking once it's over with I will treat myself to something nice. Seeing this visually and explaining really helps so thank you.
How did it go? Im in the doctors office right now waiting for mine. Im nervous so im watching videos like this! Mine is a self done test! For some reason im more nervous than if it was a doctor doing it.
@@crow____caw8870 Despite being really nervous it went well and was quicker than I expected. The doctor who did the smear for me was understanding which helped a lot. I just kept thinking once it is done I will treat myself to something nice. I hope yours went well!
I got one in a few hours.

Only way I would ever go in for one is if I were completely knocked out by anaesthetic.
My last one was 10 yrs ago.
So traumatized by it.
Just looking at that dam speculum causes me nightmares.
They need to ditch that thing, it is too painful.
@S D I have panic disorder and anxiety plus trauma with sa. Until they get a better way ro do it now way I'm going
@@RatchetFanGirl27 I've had it done under General Anesthetic but it depends on where you are in the country. If you ask, they may be able to sedate you with something less strong. I literally just got home from having my first ever smear test where I was awake and I finally managed, but I also had the option of gas if I needed it, and knowing that calmed me down a lot. Please ask! And don't listen to the idiots above who think that everyone experiences the same level of pain and anxiety.
@@RatchetFanGirl27unfortunately this is the most effective way of doing it.

I got invitation from gp for cervical scan. Went in and was traumatized because I felt the skin of cervix being scrapped off. I was bleeding. There was blood on underwear when I came home. I was relaxed but seems like very inexperienced Eastern European nurse 💔
Did you get the smear test done in the gp or did the doctor suggest any hospital
Same when I had mine done i had blood on my underwear
Exactly my fear
Its normal to bleed
Your Treatment towards my infection called HPV virus is Incomparable You assured me of getting healed and surprisingly after 14days of taking the medication I went for a HPV test and it was negative. God bless you Dr Pius Ozigbe I will keep letting the world know about your RUclips channel❤❤😂😢😢😮
I so much admire your kind gesture #Drapalahealing indeed you are a life saver.Coming across your channel on my worst HPV 1 and 2 stage was a blessing, your remedies were top notch.I’m grateful to God I made you my physician…………………………
I wish they didn't call it a pap smear. I feel like that is part of the fear women feel is with such a name like that. I know that sounds ridiculous, but I'm pretty sure
Is it free?
Yes all healthcare and appointments etc in the uk is free, you may have to pay for prescriptions if any medication is prescribed to you

Hello, could I ask.
Do transexual women perform smear tests on sis women please?
any person with a cervix can have a smear test...even transgender male to female have the smears
Trans women do not have a cervix so no.
I think that cis men can also perform smear tests but you can ask for a female doctor or nurse :)
Would u let a man perform one on you? I wouldn't. And most women wouldn't
You may have misread the question. They asked if trans women can perform the test, not be tested.
Tiene un buen corazón y estamos agradecidos por todo lo que hace, Dr. akhande. Gracias por proporcionar la cura del herpes 1:28
Wonlmen are crazy. Why do they go through this humiliation
It’s not humiliation, it’s checking for cancer.

That isn't a couch.
So what they called it a couch? I actually found it helpful to calm my anxiety that they called it that.
