    Patriots could trade back and take neighbors, use the extra picks for a tackle. Trade back into the first round for bo nix or pennix. All the sudden you get a huge boost to your offense for basically a 2nd rounder and the 3rd best qb in the draft.

I’m just a fan but been watching football for over thirty years and Mayes ‘s arm talent is head and shoulders above JJ McCarthy. Don’t understand why the Patriots wouldn’t take Mayes or Daniels if either are their at three

  • @SuperTomdog1
    @SuperTomdog1 2 месяца назад

    Here's my thoughts and maybe Elliott Wolf's thinking...if Drake Maye is more like Phillip Rivers than Josh Allen and our offensive line is shaky and our receivers can't seperate Maye is gonna become Mac 2.0. He's gonna hold the ball too long, take a ton of sacks and potentially turn the ball over. Our defense is gonna get worn out being on the field too much if we can't move the chains on offense. McCarthy is more mobile than Maye. Much more. McCarthy is very accurate in tight windows and he's going to need to be with our lack talent at receiver. We have some leverage guys who can catch the ball but may not be able to seperate. McCarthy doesn't have a big arm but he's very accurate in the intermediate areas from sideline to sideline and he can escape the pocket at will. He may be better suited to run the type of offense we're going to need to run to have success. Rpo, screens, swings, dumps, slants, reverses, etc.... Maye is a stud but might not be the right fit right now. With Daniels or Mccarthy's athleticism it may give us the offensive weapon we need to bridge the gap until we add more talent to the receiving group. If the Pats could package picks and or players like a Tyquan Thornton and move up so they have 2 high picks they could get 2 top players in the draft. It's what we need. Trade up not down. Quality over quantity.

    JJ is younger than Maye, more athletic, has a great arm that is closer to Maye's than anyone talks about, has faired better against tougher competition than Maye has and is the most pro ready QB in the class. Yes, he is 1 inch shorter than Maye and 10 lbs less in weight. To say that there is no real comparison between the 2 is absurd. One glaring difference is that Maye's numbers were way worse against pressure than were JJ's. If the Pats take Maye, you better plan on sitting him year 1, working on his footwork, accuracy and play under pressure. You then buy yourself another year to get the offensive line in better shape and get some weapons around him. JJ could also stand to sit for a bit and learn in the pros, but if you need one of these 2 guys to play some games this year behind a not so great offensive line and with limited weapons, JJ is probably better suited to do that. Hell no to Daniels. Not a very strong arm, not real good at throwing receivers open and he takes way too many big hits. He is going to be injured all the time if he plays that way in the pros.

    I genuinely HATE the receiver argument against Daniels. No one brought up receivers when it came to Mac Jones, when his WR room was better than almost every NFL WR room right now. And no one brought it up with Joe Burrow when he had MF'ing JaMarr Chase and Justin Jefferson. Pretty sure they are better than who Jayden Daniels was throwing to. I know Nick isn't the one who came up with this narrative. It's just good ol lazy journalism by the sports media

    My biggest "problems" with Daniels are: he doesn't throw to the middle of the field (only 18 times during the season), he's too tentative, he breaks the pocket too fast and turns to running immediately, he takes too many sacks, and can't throw off foot.
    Maye, well, he doesn't have good pocket feet, he's not that accurate as people wants u to think, he makes questionable decisions too many times during the game, he's not that good a scrambler and can't throw off foot.
    JJ, his sample size is small, but he was the best QB under pressure by a mile, in 3rd dwn and in RPO's he was also the best. He has a cannon, is a great off foot thrower and dominates the line of scrimmage. He's my pick.

Then trade the 23 pick to move up into the Mid-First and take one of the top Tackles like Olu Fashanu. Trade one of our Day 2 picks for Tee Higgins. While Jacoby isn’t a long term starter…we know he can play satisfactory enough to compete this season. This offense however does not have a starting left tackle…or a concrete starter at Right Tackle. They ALSO don’t have any starting receivers for any of our quarterbacks to throw to. We can take a QB later in this draft to develop…and/or we can take a home run swing next offseason when we’ll have a better overall offense…multiple first round picks…and ample cap space.*
