  • Now that I've pretty much established the look of my gallery it's time to see if art could or should go behind the statues? Today I ask for your opinion on if the art looks good on the walls?

I think the art really compliments the statues and brings life to the room. I do think they need to be symmetrical and the same size though.

If it was me personally I would have my art collection in my room and throughout my house up nicely on the walls, especially any sitting areas I'll be in. Keep your favorites with your statue collection especially ones that go well with your statues! Your collection is amazing. Museum quality even. Good luck buddy 🤘🏻

Yes, please finally put art behind the statues. Put larger pieces behind them. They may be partially blocked, but it's ok, it adds visual interest and depth. Good luck

I would lower probably at-least 3-5 statues from the top row of each side to the lower shelf and then you can display the art and everything will breathe and be much better displayed.

First off, I would suggest not worrying about a uniform size or color scheme for any artwork put around the statues. Despite being the same scale, sizes vary quite a bit and thus the spacing between the statues vary. Try and pick sizes that fit the space. Smaller pieces for the smaller gaps and for larger gaps use larger artwork, or perhaps two or three smaller pieces (that might look too busy).
Coloring is a lot trickier. As noted, for a lot of your sightlines the statues will be covering the artwork. You don’t want to lose the statue detail to the artwork. That might be tough with your collection.
If you do want a uniform look you might opt for small pictures close to the ceiling, above most of the statues. A sort of ribbon of art at ceiling height. Most will be visible from all angles. It won’t fill that gap between statues but it will provide some more visual interest.

Who knew decorating around statues could be so complicated? I might need an art degree for this!

So cool. Can't wait to see what you'll do with the space 👍 Personnally I'd try to have less crowded shelves and evenly display art between statues. Deciding what you'll do with the lower space and how you'll balance the overall aestethic of the whole shelf is key in my opinion.

I love the way it looks , the mix of Big frame and smaller , with color and black and white , mix it up , it really complements your wall and makes it pop even more ! LOVE IT ! It's very Dymamic and works very well , looks like an action Comic Book vibe ! like in the pages of a Batman Comic , instead of a flat grey wall which is more Museum !

Stick to the smaller prints (black and white if you ware worried it looks to busy with the statues), and space your statues further apart to reduce blockage at certain angles. And yes have it higher up.

  • @rick-val22

Definitely with the art work. I like the blk&white art and the two frames are both good sizes. The size would depend on what size are the pieces that I really want to display and have more of. All this is just a suggestion but maybe go smaller on the picture matting that way you can maximize the art size

Add the art for sure maybe space the statues a little further apart. To display the art better. You said the wall opposite of the comic statues was not your favorite… maybe spread your favorite wall amongst the two walls with the art. Slim down the statues and the art that you don’t love to fund other upcoming releases.

If you were to space the statues a bit further apart you could display your are with the related statues and the few statues that would get crowed out so to speak could be moved to the lower shelves

I feel that the art brings something more to the room. However me personally I would use the same art frames and height. I think that display way is more clean.

The statues are color so the black white is a nice contrast that stands out. Different sizes makes it not get lost behind the statue. I would put the art of the character behind that particular statue. I almost have no prints anymore on walls because the sacred wall space is for the one of a kind art

Definitely works with the smaller pieces Chris not so much the bigger ones. I think cause your ceiling is quite low to larger pieces might be a little much. It will definitely look great with the art behind just a matter of curating with trial and error. You’ll make it work Chris 😃

Looks good. In a way it does get lost but it also adds some depth to the statues. The larger piece obviously looks better but I wouldn't go crazy trying to make everything symmetrical.. I think a mixture of sizes will drive you less crazy. I'm usually not a fan of art directly behind the statue but I think you have enough space and depth to pull it off. In the end it's whatever makes you happy though. Yes it's somewhat blocked, but visually it's still eye appealing.. plus where else are you going to keep it, on the floor forever 😁

I think it really compliments the collections. But i think it looks best with the black and white drawings in the back ground, like you have behind deathstroke and bane. Try switching the images around. so the small image was between deathstroke and bane. Looks like there are more space between Bane and the statue next to it, for the large image.

Yes. All of my high end 1:3 scale statues have art behind them. They don't take away from the statues. On the contrary, they provide some contrast and actually enhance the statue. Sure, visibility is NOT going to be 100%. And that's okay. You and your guests will still be able to see most if not all of the art work with just a slight adjustment of your viewing angle. I can't imagine having a blank wall behind a statue. Complete waste of space in my opinion. In order to fully maximize the real estate of any man cave, having art work behind the statues is a must.

Look at how professional galleries display things. Statues are art, you wouldn't put a picture in front of another picture. At the very most space out statues and art. Placing a picture that compliments the statue side by side.

Very nice collection 😻😻✨it would be nice if it was a whole large Gotham city scape. Like the size of the Joker drawing that you have on the wall 1:21 something that cover the whole wall from behind beginning to end, behind the sculptures . Since it would be a Dark city scape of Gotham it would complement the Sculptures perfectly. 🤔It would look nice , but for something like that would need to be custom made by an Artist .

Everyone is going to have a different opinion... so here's mine. I love the statues, and I adore the artwork, but I think that, because you have so many pieces in both categories, they compete with each other no matter the size and make everything look too busy. I would say either statues or artwork, but not both. Just my opinion!

This is an issue I understand your dilemma. Adding too much artwork will make it look over crowded and could take your eye away from the beautiful statues. This would get my OCD humming personally. Maybe you need a separate room for the artwork? 🤔

The statues are always gonna be moving around. You know this, we know this. Once you place art on the wall behind that upper level, these frames will probably be moved around less frequently. That would be my guess. So every picture is never gonna look perfectly spaced at every angle. You should try to understand & make peace with that fact--or just don't do it at all. I personally love art behind statue pieces, but if the OCD in you is just too strong, then forego the idea or it will become yet another tick to fret over. We are already possibly on Spectrum levels concerning the Finch wall. While each new art addition is a super cool video to see, the maddening obsession on placement of the frames is increasingly becoming uncomfortable to watch. I say this with Bat Brotherhood support & no malice in my heart. Make the decisions that will add enjoyment to your hobby & not compound the stresses. Peace & love.
