The first thing I'd change at stations is the 7.5 km docking request limit. Just extend it out to 10 km, so you don't have to wait that few seconds every time you drop in from supercruise. How about a casino/arcade area like the Silversun Strip in Mass Effect? Games, gambling for real in-galaxy credits, combat simulators, both foot and ship, social interaction areas where players can encounter each other....
Yeah, you pay a monthly fee per ton above say 5 tons. let's you store some of those crafting materials that are not account held. Station size and type also affects capacity.
Another thought would be having more of an impact in Powerplay as an Independent contractor that builds influence with each one you run for without affecting opposing influence and it also degrades over time as well. Maybe only offer the rebuy benefits and sales discounts but no access to equipment unlocks. To avoid it being too out of balance as those who pledge scale down the benefits to the faction.
great idea for the showrooms, weapons and engineering effect test range, considering that engineering effects are permanent and can neither be removed nor replaced I also support your other ideas about space stations. That would be interesting. 😎👍 o7
What I like about the stations: the atmosphere brought by the musics, the sounds (the little music in the elevators, the advertisements, the dialogues, ...) --> What I would add: A screen broadcasting informations about the system , the powers in place, the conflicts in progress, about the economy, maybe the weather on the earth like planet nearby, ...
I like the idea of having more role-playing elements that can incorporate gameplay elements. For instance, the shooting range for trying new weapon configurations or even a "war room" where you can do simulated combat scenarios. There's a lot that can be done with just the concept of a firing range / on foot training environment. This could even potentially be an Optional Module that can be installed on larger vessels. Another thing I've been wanting in Elite is a "Home", even if it's just a Unit I have to pay rent for every week where I can have a little customizable suite. While this wouldn't add tons of gameplay, it would add a lot to the immersion factor of the game, along with "Collectibles" - imagine having picture frames on your walls that can hold screenshot you've taken in-game (this is a new feature added in Cyberpunk 2077, which I found to be very immersive). Or having other pieces of memorabilia like the Hutton Mug. Idk, I agree that there's a lot more that could be done with stations, and seeing that Odyssey is pretty much fixed at this point, I'd like to see what other features FDev will build on top of this foundation for On-Foot gameplay.
I recently left Star Citizen (tough call) and I'm focused on Elite. Before I left, the "contested zones" on space stations in the new Pyro system were really, really good and the FPS PVP player base were mostly loving it. I think having these zones tied into power play would be amazing. Flipped a system so that it's now vulnerable? A contested zone becomes available on the station where the defending faction have to repel the incoming faction. Each time is completed by the attackers or denied by the defenders, it affects the control points in the system. So you have station based FPS PVP that directly influences the PP mechanics. These could be events that are broadcast rather than something that is always running (like SC).
Right, make it merely a chance for the event and only if neither faction has an existing event occurring. This event say has a 48 hour countdown and shows up in both factions sections of all docks. The areas are locked from influence until this event is completed and shifts to the side who wins, unlocking influence again. This event has it's own point located near the station but away from other existing points. Preferably within a ring for a more dynamic fight. Maybe even an abandoned settlement.
That would be amazing, I've came over from star citizen while I wait for it to stabilize but also I wanted to try something different. I think including "contested zone" like content would be amazing, making a system conflict be more close to home with it being present on station.
Great ideas, Ricardo, especially the role playing elements, and including orbitals as potential on-foot combat zones...maybe graft in a little Expanse, with "boarding pods"! So much can be done...and I hope FDev consider introducing the Guardians again, or variants of, if the narrative allows. New aliens...

I'm currently deep in the black doing some exploration/exobiology stuff. It would be cool if I came across a newly discovered system and found an abandoned, derelict orbiting station. One that I could land on and explore where the previous occupants had left recorded messages/puzzles, which led to discovering exciting and interesting stuff. It would add an extra feeling of anticipation when you arrive in a newly discovered system.
I think they intend to as player owned. They seem to be considering these intermediate ships too big to dock but much smaller than a carrier. I think it would be neat to have something that houses up to 2 ships and you actually use a fighter to fly to the station and your "yacht" is anchored automatically when within mass lock. Make them modular as well so you could house more ship docks, or cargo racks or even scanner arrays where you could have multiple people in these cockpits scanning entire systems with a discovery scanner. Have it be multi-crew based on the loadout and you can dock your ship on it, run as multi-crew and go to your ship on it's own dock. I think it would make Powerplay much more dynamic and strategic as well. Plus make for extremely profitable Exploration for the scanning and even Exobiology.
These are wet dreams what Chris Roberts has and lets see how far in development of SC we are...oh, two broken star systems. People sometimes forgetting how this game works, scale of this game, its procedural generation etc etc...
Also, contract CMDRs, squadrons or factions to transport prefabed modules/sections and assemble new space stations, piece by piece. That's the type of community goal I could get behind.
I am still waiting for some of those NPC Distress rescues (refuel/repair) to sing me a song in the bar and harass me into taking them on as a Crew for a discount percent!
I think it would be neat to build up some kind of Folk Hero reputation for distress rescues, delivering aid or similar types of "goodwill" missions. Have it so it gives you a default boost to all neutral and above faction relations say 1 faction ranks per 3 Folk Hero rank with a cap at 6 total ranks with ending at friendly at the highest. Shooting clean players and committing crimes reduces this rating.
Some odyssey combat stuff on the station would realy be nice which impacts bgs and pp. That should be in new areas. Also some instant events when you notice the station is under attack - you can choose to attack it too or defend it in- and outside the station
Put that on the ten year plan. I wonder if it is time for another kickstarter, perhaps to get ship interiors done, and stations could be included in this. There is a massive amount of design detail that would need to be done, and I can't see Frontier being able to afford the man hours needed for that. SC is evidence of the cost of that level of detail, 10 years on and still in alpha!
A real economy. Where stations refine ores mined by commanders and NPC, to manufacture parts of modules and ships, where missions of transporting people, transporting commodities, are in line with the real needs and consumption of NPCs and commanders and that this impacts the price. That could give a real purpose to those mining, hauling, and not just piling up credits.
Melee combat should be allowed in stations and legacy settlements (bar fights, like move popular Sci-Fi has at some point). Also, you should be able to walk outside of any settlement with a literal door, not just new smaller settlements in Odyssey, or walk inside if you happen to land nearby without using the landing pad.
I would love to see the space station interiors be a lot more varied, and maybe with introduction of player not owned but at least architected stations that will be a more likely scenario. I’m very much of the opinion based on what they’ve said so far that we will not be owners of stations in systems that we expand into, but rather be architects and be somehow commemorated for being the architect, but not actually own or receive anything of value from the system that we originally architected.I guess we’ll see us more information comes out but looking at what they said previously they’ve been very careful not to say the word own.
Totally agree Atlas, space stations could be hub for hosting in game events and missions- what system colonisation brings will have to capitalise on that
An observation lounge would be great, where you can hang out and just watch the stars drift by. Would be especially nice if you're waiting on a fellow CMDR to arrive, or if the system is especially nice looking! Would also like to see rifle ranges on foot, but would also enjoy seeing race courses for fighters & SRVs, all of which have many variations and have local leaderboards. Being able to enter/exit planetary starports on foot would also be nice.
Some nice ideas - I really like the idea of battle grounds in a station - or at least conflict, rescue, resupply, medical supplies ammo etc. Also the idea of working with or against the current admins police/security forces. Sounds good. So what we really want is a tie in between cyberpunk 2077 and ED LOL. But I guess it's not beyond the realms of possibility. Given another 10 years. One of the things I can't believe hasn't changed much since launch is the messaging you get from the cruie liners, wedding barges and funerals... I mean come on, this is low hanging fruit. So let's have a lot more messaging and voice work. More variety and relevance. And sure, more station designs, with seperate entrance and exit routes, colours, announcements and such. Easy pickings for even more engagement through variety. Another thing that is odd. I've got a cobra mkV and it has 3 seats. I understand this is nice if you are playing with buddies.... but why cant we hire an AI weapons specialist for one of those seats, and a trade adviser/navigator for the other seat? That could be expensive, but give certain perks and interaction between you, the pilot and your specialists. So yea, the list goes on... I'm looking forward to colonization.... but will players be able to get involved in helping or hindering a colonizer based on their allegance? I guess we will find out.
For me, to support BGS influence and/or power play, allow missions or attacks on people and security in station. Can you imagine the battle to get back to your ship.
For BGS, currently, when you win a war you gain an asset, an asset being a station for your faction. We shouldn't gain it instantly, you should be allowed to infiltrate the station core areas and pew pew your way into a control room, only when you enter and gain control should you gain control of station
I would love these changes, I've really been enjoying this game but one complaint I have is that odyssey and the main game feel too disconnected (I understand it is a dlc and had a rough launch) but I would love if there was more engagement in both gameplay styles. I'd especially love it if we could collect ship missions from mission givers on station rather it have to be from the ship.
As a new player here is my initial opinion on stations and what I think would make them nicer: -They seem small! Sure these would all work just fine as little trade port cities, but an O'Neil cylinder is supposed to be like 8km diameter and 30+ km long. You need those huge diameters for centrifugal gravity to be comfortable. Would love to see some much bigger stations where you can see entire multiple cities inside through the glass of the main tube and the spaceport is much bigger. -Not enough diversity. Only 3 models with a bit of randomized details? Come on, the modeling/art work to crank out a few more designs isn't that much work. -Interiors are all more or less the same. Even if it was a modular system, some differences in layouts and vibes would be nice. And some different locations to visit would be cool too. use the elevator system to cut out the vast distances between areas. Let me visit the main civilian area or a big garden/park or whatever and soak in the views. And yeah have on-foot missions INSIDE colonies. having a shootout inside a slum housing block in some awful no-security system as part of some mercenary or contraband mission would be neat.
I would absolutely love more variety and also more "life" to the bubble Planet side MASSIVE stations with benefits that make landing planetside worth it Larger stations Small stations Stations that are straight up just a massive fleet carrier Stations that are heavily militarized, agricultural, trade hubs and also PIRATE stations, AX outposts, AX stations
Something I was thinking the other day was beds. Even if they served no purpose, but especially if they did. I think it would add a lot of immersion if you could rent a room at these space stations. Easily enough I think, to be able to just take the elevator up one level to the living quarters. Of course, the end game would be allowing us to buy our own apartments, or better yet, plop down a building on a planet to call our home... I wonder if the game could handle a bunch of player home buildings placed together to make a town or small city? Meh, enough daydreaming.
This is the problem with many games these days. .. Developers create a lot of content, good graphics but without "life", energy... And I'm not talking about the lack of "AI" that people keep talking about nowadays and I know simply as "algorithm", code, programming and etc. Well, I'm going to tell you about a game that isn't a spacegame, but in terms of experience, immersion, the feeling of a “living world” it was fantastic, it's called World of Warcraft. A game that was over 18 years old and had all the materials you suggest (weapons training room, auction houses, many types of missions, interactions and constructions, dynamic PVP, PVE, etc. It had all of this. Okay, In it you also spent hours or days to get better gear, an upgrade going from map to map, but it was enjoyable, it made sense When you thought the game was ending, then came the raids and various "endgame" content. Other space games from the "offline" era that had a lot of things to do and had much better "AI" than today's (but with a lack of imaging technology) were Microsoft Freelancer (2002/2003) and Wing Commander Privateer (I think around 1991 ~1995). There was also the infamous Battlecruiser 3000AD, ok, it was full of bugs, but man, the game was huge, with control of armored vehicles, battlecruisers, fighters, transport ships, etc. In BC3000AD, even if you wanted to, you would invade enemy territory and destroy an entire station, an entire planet (and this was back in 1998) Same idea as Elite Dangerous but in my opinion with a greater cost-benefit with each launch, with Pathetic graphics compared to today but with a lot of intelligence and the long-awaited immersion. Even installing the games was immersive... lol. I still remember having to learn how to configure conventional memory in MS-DOS... There were other games too, like X-Wing vs Tie Fighter, Wing Commander Profecy, Star Trek Academy, Master of Orion (okay it was strategy, but it was a complex game) and so on.
I agree the game needs more imperative jobs. Like I've always said if a system ever has a election going on, perhaps have missions where you hand out pamphlets to settlements to promote the election of the faction of your choice.
For stations why not have a VR style PvP footfall combat arena similar to a laser tag style course? You can have full access of footfall equipment to test and you can even choose the gravity of the "map". For the ship things, just have it be another "VR" cockpit that lets you test virtual loadouts when you uplink your ship. Also having a promenade to see the dock area would be neat too.
@@RicardosGaming Would love to see some Laser repeaters and Laser Cannons. Ground weapons like the Plasma rifle reworked somehow. And even the Scorpion SRV Gun rework so it fires a bit more accurately. Right now its useless to me anyway.
It's too late now, but just as easy ship builder should have different cockpits, each of the big 4 would in reality have different design of space stations not just p paint and banners. Different manufacturers for the empire/federation etc. When flying into fed space we should feel the difference but we don't..
Not related to stations but maybe have it so if a player is killed by another while they were clean at the time of the attack, they can offer up a player bounty on that other player as long as their rankings are more than 1 rank apart. So the Elite V players cannot offer up a bounty ever but Elite III can offer a bounty on IV or V. When you get a bounty you get the red notification and while you have this bounty you cannot put out a bounty until cleared AND cannot offer a bounty on the player who collected it while the bounty was active. This also does not notify authorities at all and you cannot turn on " report crimes against me" if you have a bounty. Also buff the bounty for low ranked players since they may not have as much money in relation to the rank difference. This allows players who already go after gankers to get some money for their risk and puts more of a risk on gankers to do it.
Yes to all of it! Aaahahahaaa! As it is, Elite Dangerous feels somewhat sterile and lacks social interaction. Most of the time, you interact with exchangeable mugshots spouting interchangeable predefined stuff.
I’d like to be able to rent a lock up! Maybe a 100-1000T storage location. It would be quite useful.

Yeah, you pay a monthly fee per ton above say 5 tons. let's you store some of those crafting materials that are not account held. Station size and type also affects capacity.

There were other games too, like X-Wing vs Tie Fighter, Wing Commander Profecy, Star Trek Academy, Master of Orion (okay it was strategy, but it was a complex game) and so on.
The mail slot isn't the problem is the landing dock is the carousel under it
they are both an issue IMHO
It could be fun if spaceports under construction get invaded by scavs. Missions to go and clear them out from the half-built interior. In darkness.
spooky stuff - but also an engaging Idea - these are untapped game resourse in my book!
yeah i want all these showrooms and test ranges on my fc, i want to take like 10 misn from dock to bridge in my fc it would be cool asfk
there should be an option to try out mods as well before you buy them
Imagen having to fly in the space station, land and jump out to defend the station, seeing what we see while flying inside but on ground in combat
Stations have so much left to give
How about some traveling bands like KK slider in Animal Crossing
Storage and customisable accomodation. I’d gladly pay rent for it. It would be nice for your home base to be a home.
I would too
I agree the game needs more imperative jobs.
I would like more ships this year, but also if they could do it then more ship/foot weapons ...
Totally feel you on that! More ships and weapons would just be awesome! Let’s hope the devs bring us some cool stuff soon!
@@RicardosGaming Would love to see some Laser repeaters and Laser Cannons. Ground weapons like the Plasma rifle reworked somehow. And even the Scorpion SRV Gun rework so it fires a bit more accurately. Right now its useless to me anyway.
Id like to store like meta alloys relics and thargoid hearts but im getting a fleet carrier so soon i can but would be nice to do so in stations
Beds! I sit waiting for my notoriety to clear as it is, might as well give me the option for 500000000 (credit) thread count bed sheets.
lol
It's too late now, but just as easy ship builder should have different cockpits, each of the big 4 would in reality have different design of space stations not just p paint and banners. Different manufacturers for the empire/federation etc. When flying into fed space we should feel the difference but we don't..
I’d also love an anaconda mk2 with a medium landing pad or even a small one but prefer a medium.
May as well just use the Python MKII
@@SophiaAphrodite I have one! I want a large ship with a landing pad on it for a smaller ship! Sort of like a mini carrier type thing.
This allows players who already go after gankers to get some money for their risk and puts more of a risk on gankers to do it.
they could make the toast rack larger
@@thebagfather4633 they may have too
Can you make a guide on the fastest way to go from elite to elite v in combat
I would say assassinations and PvP
@@SophiaAphrodite ill give it a shot thank you, been 1 shoting cyclops in my anaconda get 1% a day lol
Yes to all of it! Aaahahahaaa!
As it is, Elite Dangerous feels somewhat sterile and lacks social interaction. Most of the time, you interact with exchangeable mugshots spouting interchangeable predefined stuff.
Absolutely! It’s time we transform those mugshots into actual characters with stories. Let’s make space social again!
