The 95 would be fine. I have the 95 when I was a 36 and now I’m in 32/33’s and I can still wear it fine. It is slightly bigger than I’d like now but you can’t tell just me. 95 would be good for his size unless he purposely likes his belts long which I wouldn’t recommend. Hope that helps! How many holes do you have available when wearing it? I would have probably went with a 90. My pants dropped to a 33/34 and I still wear my 95 comfortably. You should aim for at least a hole or two extra when wearing it comfortably. Hope that helps.
They call it a canvas material but It’s not like the canvas you would think. Over time it can get crinkled where you tighten it with traditional belts but because of this design it avoids it. This design would be hard to ware out in my opinion. As far as the design itself just rubbing off? No not at all unless you scratch it. If you did it would act like any other material that gets scratched. Hope that helped and made sense 💪

As long as I’ve had mine I don’t have scratches. With this belt there really isn’t anywhere on the belt it can hit against to get scratched so I think it would be pretty hard to do that. I like it but if you think you may scratch it up maybe a chrome buckle would be better for you? Without scratching it the black definitely won’t come off either way though
