From the perspective of a retired A&P, most people don't realize the constant inspections, maintenance, care and hard work it takes to keep these historical aircraft flying. It takes expertise, dedication, know-how and long hours of volunteer work. My hat is off to all who maintain not only this beauty, but any others out there that are still flying. Cheers.

Not to mention the money required to keep these beauties airborne. To my mind, the B-17 is still one of the most beautiful airplanes ever to fly.

They are awe-inspiring. The crews who flew them though are even more incredible. The courage these fellas had to go over Nazi-occupied Europe or the Japanese-held Pacific and destroy their key positions/industries, the whole time braving Hitler and Tojo's best defensive forces (considered by some to be among the strongest in history), just boggles the imagination. If I wore a hat, I would be taking it off every time I saw one of these men in person (sadly, there aren't many of them still with us now).

Love the B-17! My uncle John F Mayek Jr. Flew one in WWII and was shot down over Germany. He and his crew made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom and I will be forever grateful! I joined the Air Force because of him and was a Crew Chief on the B-52 H/G. Never forget our heroes!

That is a magnificent plane. The view of it banking to the right (at 2 min 40 sec) to line up with the runway is one of the best parts in the video. I watched them overhauling this plane at the Commemorative Air Force Museum, last year in Mesa, Az.

Music to our ears!! 4 engine heavy bomber at 80 years old, all restored to more than airworthy condition. Pristine B-17G in the pattern. Imagine the concentration of the crew to navigate this simple but totally critical phase of the flight and nailing it like pro!! So it's done, Nice landing guys, So happy this is still going on, keep it coming.

Fantastic that this marvelous bird is still flying and looking beautiful. I have photographs when I was fortunate enough to do a walk through at my local air show in Autumn of 1997. Great job of capturing the flight through the pattern as much as possible. Especially the gear extension. Love it!

The later B-17 types are still a good looking airplane. I don't have a scientific definition of why, only have that my being finds this to be a good looking airplane. This later type has more pleasing lines than the earliest B-17s with skinny aft fuselage and narrower vertical stabilizer.

Thank you for sharing! I do, however, have an issue with your title. I have flown on this aircraft and have to tell you, that is a "textbook " landing .
I had the privilege of volunteering for the local CAF chapter, when they had their local airshow. Sadly, the Mayor, of the City got greedy. Great video, thanks again!

@@mikefranks3538 I read someplace that cicadas like to land on people. They're one of my two favorite insects, the other being the preying mantis. Our brood hit here (eastern WV) in 2021 and it was a doozy. I doubt I'll be around for another one since I'm 85 now.
