Adam! Great to see you back in action. Love your style, insight, and take on gaming and the industry in general. Keep up the awesome work and fans like me will always be there to tune in.
I had forgotten how detailed Adam could be. This is the meatiest review from him I've watched in years. It engages my brain as well as my senses. Good to have you back, Adam.
Great review Sess. I work the gaming department at Best Buy and check reviews like this every Tuesday before work. This one will definitely influence how I pitch the game to customers.
Papa Sess! I was worried I'd never see your gorgeous mug again! And what better way to return than with a stellar review! Good to have you back, Mr. Sessler.
Glad to see you still doing reviews Adam! its been so long since I got to see you on X-Play, you're lookin' good dude! Can't wait to see more videos from you
So good to hear Sessler doing reviews of video games again! He does such a great job of describing why he likes/dislikes a game. Also, hes really entertaining. Welcome home Adam!
Adam, you always know how to right a sophisticated review and truly make the ratings you give earned, I'm so glad you are back in the industry, its people like you that are lacking, your sense of sophistication is just fantastic
This was by far the best choice i made in subscribing to this channel, the reviews are always well done and unbiased. I also had high hopes for colonial marines
Was never a big X-Play fan, enjoyed it but wasn't part of the daily routine. That said, I always respected your opinion and I'm very happy to see you back on my screen, Adam. Thank you for sticking around and keeping us entertained and informed!
I felt like I was watching old school X-Play watching this review and I mean that in the best way possible. Glad to have Adam still around and kicking butt in reviews
its amzing how dark and scary it is flares and an imige intensifier thats it as well as the sounds and mystery of each level and what you can run across some from the comic like the xenoborg as well , well worth it man
am the only one that was waiting for morgan webb to pop up after with a comment, man i miss xplay haha. good review adam, now i know where ill go for all my video game info needs
I remembered this past tuesday waking up early to get my copy of this for pc at gamestop and bringing it back home to play just to witness how this game is. Waiting 6 years for this to come out only to recognize the final product not what it was that Gearbox showed a year and a half ago is nothing short of deceiving. As a fan of the Alien franchise though I accepted it for what it is and enjoyed what the game delivered.
I also really enjoyed Adam's reviewing style. Accurate, detailed and respectful to gamers' intelligence. Will be looking forward to his future reviews.
I remember reading a magazine article about this the Summer before going to college. As I consider both "Alien" and "Aliens" to be perfect films, I was very excited for this game. Now, a year after I graduated, it is finally released... And I could not be more disappointed. At least I now have "Aliens"on blu-ray... And the old "Alien vs. Predator" for the Atari Jaguar.
Excellent review. I hadn't seen Adam review games in a little while and his editorial voice is still as unique and valid as ever. I'd give this informative review a 4... Out of 5.
I presume this has already been called out but "A cloud of vapor the size of Nebraska" is apparently far, FAR smaller than I thought. Why is Hadley's Hope even there? There's shouldn't be anything but molten pit for miles.
Adam was pretty generous with this review. He could have easily given the game a lower score, but he saw the intention and potential. Great review as always Adam :D
Just wanted to give a little anecdote. I was playing the Aliens Vs Predator(1999) demo for the first time and was trying to lay waste to Xenomorphs. The kept coming at me from all angles so I figured I would hide behind a big metal box and just waste them as they tried to get to me. As I'm waiting I all of a sudden begin to be attacked and I realize that they climbed the ceiling and wall to get to me. That was 1999, why the hell are Xenomorphs in 2013 running straight ahead all the time?
I like how Adam you immediately point out the one of the plot holes in the game. When I first saw this game 2 years ago I asked why, just why. The plot that the game had was that of a 12 year old's fan-fiction. It's like they saw the movie 20 years ago and never went back to re-watch it before writing. When I asked a rep from Gearbox the only thing they wanted to talk about was how much detail they went into to visual design of the game and going back to the original films unused art.
The only thing I could think about when this game was first announced, being a very loyal fan of the films was... Didn't that base on that colony on that planet go sky high after the reactor went super nova. Yeah... This was the main reason I wasn't expecting much from this game.
Love the honesty Sessler. Your reviews are the only thing i need to know in weather to get a game or not. Didn't expect much from yet another aliens game, but i really did want to like this game. HUGE fan of the aliens movies,....guess the pinochle of aliens games ended with the jaguar.
I can always trust an trustworthy review from you. I have been folowing your reviews for some time now and even bought a copy of Drake of the 99 Dragons just to see what a one out of five would be... I quickly hit it with a hammer, killed it with fire and put it in a burlap sack and tossed it into a lake. I have now learned to trust you when you say a game is bad and will never again doubt the judgment of the Sessler. Thank you.
Adam, Do you think that the FPS genre was not a good choice for Aliens: Colonial Marines? Do you think that a more solitary game experience, similar to the original Dead Space or even Amnesia: The Dark Decent, would have been a better fit for this license? As a human against the xenomorphs, the player should feel like I have a slim chance of survival if none at all.
Thing is he's not alone in this. Lots of people have high expectations on a good Aliens game. I was never a hardcore fan of the movies, but even I wanted the game to be as thrilling and heart-thumping as the movies.
This game hurts even more by the fact that I think Randy Pitchford seems like a really cool guy. He is always so enthusiastic that it pains me to say anything bad about his products.
I pretty much agree. I didn't think of the last part with us accepting crap. Call of Duty almost comes to mind there. They release the same MP, but still gets heralded for the single-player experience, which makes sense, because I usually love CoD campaigns. And they work on games for a year, maybe 1.25 years, but never need major patches. I think if Gearbox hadn't spent Aliens dollars on Borderlands and actually put in the "love and care" they said they used, the game would've been much better.
That is an easy one to cover. If they break an embargo they will not get advance copies from a given publisher or developer to have a review out at or near launch. Normally only games the dev/publisher know will be awesome will get prelaunch approval for reviews. Not all the time, but once in a while. Like the Forza series. It always reviews well and reviews go up a few days to a week before one comes out.
At last, a concise and informed game review. Angry Joe has gotten faaaar too full of himself (webcam pointed at self for hours while playing Blood Bowl) so cheers Adam! Keep making great reviews!
I agree that the controls for the xenomorphs in multiplayer are a bit clunky and the story needed some working, but I still think it's a fun game. I have to admit I find the challenges a fun reason to replay the game, except for some of the ones on multiplayer. And I love how you can customize your weapons and put different skins. I agree it's not a perfect game and it could have been better, but to me it will always be a classic.
I 100% agree with everything u said, and it really does sux that new generation will not have the chance to play a great aliens game. waited 6 years for this game and it turns out like this man man. Once again thx 4 a good review Adam
Yes. I used to work for them. Tell the person that you want to return the game and preorder another one or buy another one. If they don't let you ask for the manager.
Hey Adam, i'm glad to see you are still doing reviews! You were the whole reason why I watched X-Play in the first place. Miss how funny that show used to be. Stay cool.
So much chatter in the gaming space about this review and have to say it is a quality review. good to see Sessler's POV on this as well. Been too long since he was on my regular viewing.
a true reviewer returns! welcome back Adam, hopefully G4 didn't touch you in bad places while they slowly killed x-play [and obviously techtv before that]
I am so glad that I didn't buy this game. So many of my friends wanted to run out and get it, but knowing the Alien game history, I decided to wait. Now I won't even bother. Thanks for the review, Adam. So glad to see and hear you again.
Nice job Adam !!!! Ppl may hate you for this but i appreciate the honesty. I had my sneaking suspicions that it was going to be hot trash but you just confined why i cancelled my preorder Your one of the very FEW game commentators i can trust with a good opinion on what a game is and should be. Well done....Bravo !
I nearly cried after seeing the reviews. I was really excited when i heard about it and watching the mayhem preview of "hold this room against wave after wave of xenomorphs".
Dear Adam, What do you believe are some of the important aspects essential for the successful release of a new IP? Why do some games like Dishonored succeed while others like Spec Ops: The Line fail?
On the upside just think how cheap the Collectors Edition (with the loader being attacked by the xenomorph statue) is going to be once they start selling those off in 6 months time.
I came here to find an review of Alien Isolation, gosh, I really miss Sessler.
Adam! Great to see you back in action. Love your style, insight, and take on gaming and the industry in general. Keep up the awesome work and fans like me will always be there to tune in.
Failiens: Col O' Niel marines.
NO. With that comment you come dangerously close to insulting my favourite Stargate SG-1 character by association.
DGneoseeker1 Shits given= ZERO.
Alex Breeze O'Neal fucking sucked, his dialogues were laughable
Danny Main
Don't tell me you preferred it when they replaced him with the guy from Farscape?
I had forgotten how detailed Adam could be. This is the meatiest review from him I've watched in years. It engages my brain as well as my senses. Good to have you back, Adam.
Gotta say I'm glad to have Sessler doing a game reviews still. Hasn't steered me wrong yet in all these years.
Sessler.
Thanks for the awesome in depth review that i can always count on from you Adam!! Keep up the good work, and it is good to see you back in action.
Glad to see Adam back in the review seat! (Or... I just didn't know where to find him until I stumbled my way here) Either way, welcome back!!!
Wow, Sessler. If you start doing reviews this well, this informative and entertaining, you will become my one stop shop for gamereviews. Bravo.
Adam, you always know how to right a sophisticated review and truly make the ratings you give earned, I'm so glad you are back in the industry, its people like you that are lacking, your sense of sophistication is just fantastic

Over 3 years of playing AvP3, I have 700+ multiplayer matches recorded for my channel. 98% are full lobbies of 9+ players. Xbox version.
My goodness, the sheer child-like glee of finding new reviews from Adam.
I havent seen a sessler review since the tech tv days. the way he says the scores really brings me back.
My first review I've seen from Rev3 and Adam, he's a damn good journalist! Subscribed.
Just subscribed. It's truly nostalgic hearing you say "out of five." I used to watch you on tv every day after I would come home from school.
Well, one good thing about Aliens CM... this review. I think this review might be one of the best I've ever seen from you Adam.
damn..... hearing Adam rate the game in the end made my childhood smile.....
You can't even understand how happy I am that Adam is back. I missed his shocking bluntness more than I thought I would.
Glad to see some more Sessler on the RUclipss.
Oh God... I didn't know Adam Sessler was on yotube until today. It's just like the old Extended Play days... I might cry.
its amzing how dark and scary it is flares and an imige intensifier thats it as well as the sounds and mystery of each level and what you can run across some from the comic like the xenoborg as well , well worth it man
Welcome back Sessler! we missed you
"Animations are staccato" I can see this being used instead of stiff in future reviews, Adam came up with it! XD
am the only one that was waiting for morgan webb to pop up after with a comment, man i miss xplay haha. good review adam, now i know where ill go for all my video game info needs

"Imma Throw Up"
LOOOOOL!

The other video links at the end of the review don't work. We see the mosaic next to Adam, but they are un clickable.
Did anyone else notice he called the planet LV427?
yep haha.... calls himself an aliens fan xD
I love how i can get my reviews from Sessler again
I remember reading a magazine article about this the Summer before going to college. As I consider both "Alien" and "Aliens" to be perfect films, I was very excited for this game. Over time Adam has lost hair. It was a metaphor for his review wisdom. Now he is full monk.
Adam Sessler, the only guy on TV I ever trusted with game reviews.
Adam was pretty generous with this review. He could have easily given the game a lower score, but he saw the intention and potential. Great review as always Adam :D
Adam Sessler is still doing game reviews? Subscribed!
Adam Sessler is the legend! :D
Every review of his is truly from gamer to gamer!
Good to see you again Adam :)

I hope this channel gets big
I saw that X Play ended, glad to see I can find Sessler here, great reviewer
Your the best Adam, your what I've been missing in gaming for quite some time.
They should just give Sessler his own TV channel. That would be amazing.
Love the honesty Sessler. Your reviews are the only thing i need to know in weather to get a game or not. Didn't expect much from yet another aliens game, but i really did want to like this game. HUGE fan of the aliens movies,....guess the pinochle of aliens games ended with the jaguar.

Agree. The audio is great and the game makes you feel cold, alone and scared all at the same time. One of the best scary games I've played.
Keep up the great work Adam, been following you since early X-Play!
Here's a question for you Adam: What companies do you think would be the best starting place for a soon to graduate Game Designer?
Great review Adam! Your the best out there. Keep up the good work!
This game hurts even more by the fact that I think Randy Pitchford seems like a really cool guy. He is always so enthusiastic that it pains me to say anything bad about his products.
Your mom jokes. Pure creativity right here.

Go to player matches not ranked! Ranked is dead. All the players are in 'player' matches because it's way faster to setup matches
At last, a concise and informed game review.
Angry Joe has gotten faaaar too full of himself (webcam pointed at self for hours while playing Blood Bowl) so cheers Adam!
Keep making great reviews!
Makes me want to go back and play the aliens trilogy game back in the Saturn/PS1 days
How hard was the review for you because you and Randy Pitchford seem like friends from what I've seen.
That brakes my heart, I was so looking forward to this. Well, thanks for the info.
I agree that the controls for the xenomorphs in multiplayer are a bit clunky and the story needed some working, but I still think it's a fun game.
I have to admit I find the challenges a fun reason to replay the game, except for some of the ones on multiplayer.

I love your reviews Adam! Much like wine, you get better with age.

Good unbiased, honest review. Thanks, Adam!
This was an excellent review, thank you Adam! I share your enthusiasm for the Aliens franchise, as well as your disappointment in the game.
Hey Adam, i'm glad to see you are still doing reviews! You were the whole reason why I watched X-Play in the first place. Miss how funny that show used to be. Stay cool.
Alien Vs Predator 2 (PC, 2001) made by Monolith Productions is by far the best game. They got everything right with that one...
love you're reviews adam
So much chatter in the gaming space about this review and have to say it is a quality review. good to see Sessler's POV on this as well. Been too long since he was on my regular viewing.
besides this review could anyone tell me what setup he has behind him? i have the same hdtv but what stand is that?
Wt do u guys think about co op splitscreen on the same tv, is it worth getting or not?
I really liked your AMA. Do another.
You and me both. I don't always agree with him but I love his insight.
Right, they created them as well I believe. It's an in-house development studio.
They actually do. Can't explain here cause of the major spoilers but a Marine in the game does explain it.
a true reviewer returns! welcome back Adam, hopefully G4 didn't touch you in bad places while they slowly killed x-play [and obviously techtv before that]
I am so glad that I didn't buy this game. So many of my friends wanted to run out and get it, but knowing the Alien game history, I decided to wait. Now I won't even bother. Thanks for the review, Adam. So glad to see and hear you again.

how exactly do they deal with the fact they blew up the entire site?
That first marine level was tough, and yet so much fun to play on any difficulty. I loved that alien campaign too.
Difficulty=enemies sponge more bullets has always been a Gearbox mainstay. Truly pioneers in contemporary artificial difficulty.
Meant to say just "that colony on the planet" still getting use to the iPad touch keyboard.
I nearly cried after seeing the reviews. I was really excited when i heard about it and watching the mayhem preview of "hold this room against wave after wave of xenomorphs".
Dear Adam,
What do you believe are some of the important aspects essential for the successful release of a new IP? Why do some games like Dishonored succeed while others like Spec Ops: The Line fail?
This review reminds me so much of the good ol' days of Xplay. Fond memories.
When "good intentions" are a pro and not results you're in trouble. Now I really want to watch Aliens.
On the upside just think how cheap the Collectors Edition (with the loader being attacked by the xenomorph statue) is going to be once they start selling those off in 6 months time.
So what do you think of the rumors that Gearbox had another company develop the singleplayer while they developed the multiplayer?
