I could listen to Al tell stories all day
Me, too. And he has the best announcer's voice I've ever heard.
John Madden had a morning segment on the radio in the mornings on the west coast here. Dad would take me and my brother to school and always listen to Madden on the radio segment. Good times. AL Michael's John Madden Bob Costas and even rich eisen are incredible story givers
Al reminds me of my late grandpa, could carry your attention with the best stories from 40-50 years ago in detail, and take you to that moment even though you weren’t alive yet.
He should really have his own podcast
He's right about the NFL being 365 now, it's becoming too saturated. When little old ladies started talking to me about how nice player's butts looked in their pants I knew Football had peaked and it was all downhill from there
He’s such a Sunday night voice, vibe and feel. Not Thursday.. but glad we still have him.
Al Michaels is A National Treasure.
I miss Frank Gifford too. He and Michaels on that MNF intro were amazing
I miss him with Collinsworth. They’re doing him such a disservice by putting him on TNF
He's a wherever the bag goes voice
True classic old schooler, not many of them left ❤
Miss him on SNF!
Please bring Al back every week. This was one of my favorite segments.
Between Al Michaels and Bob Costas their sport stories are legendary.... really enjoyed this segment... thank you so much for sharing this.
Bob Costas is a loser
Keep in mind that Al Michaels is 78 years old. He's living right.
No vegetable diet
Truly enjoyed your commentary over the years Al. Thank you for all your input. A-1 career in my books.
Al Michaels is THE GOAT, my favorite play-by-play announcer in any sport. His stories, especially about Cosell, are priceless!!
Too bad he can't be bothered to take a break from the stories long enough to pay attention to the game in front of him. Unless the game involves someone named Rogers or Mahomes, the coach will have already thrown the challenge flag before he realizes that there was a question about whether or not it was a reception, for example. Or they'll have marched off the yardage before he realized there was a flag on the ground.
Voice of absolute gold, great insights, just a legend. Far and away the best commentator in the game right now
When I was in the eighth grade I interviewed Al at Candlestick Park. It was a school project, we had a back pack video camera set up. Al was 31:39 gracious and encouraging to this young sports reporter. My broadcasting career went on to be derailed by some bad choices on my part, but I will be forever grateful to Mr Michaels. He laid out a roadmap for me to get into broadcasting.
Al is an absolute legend and has called some of the biggest moments in sports history!!
Yeah he's 79 and still owns it like a 40 yr old could but actually "cant" like him 😅😅. He is amazing. A true master of the sport. Keep it going AL. Thank you for the great games as you continue to make football the best game in the world
I used to listen to Al Michaels call Giants games on the radio when I was a kid.
He's terrific.
Wow I saw he did reds baseball?
Al's memory is beyond amazing. I can't remember the name of a guy I worked with last month, Al remembers the football game score, who he called the game with, the date it was played, and the stats for the players of games from 1972. The guy is the best of the best. I just wish he'd eat a vegetable once in a while. 😉🥗🌽
He remembers all the hookers by name
💥
IDK he's 78 and seems sharp as a knife and in good shape. Maybe vegetables are overrated.
Great show! Al & Rich & Rich’s staff are super fun! I salute you! O7
Probably the best segment I've ever seen thx boys!!
I love this guy; what a National Treasure. Thanks for having him on your show.
10-3-71 I was born crazy Al you’re the greatest.
Great show Rich! 🏈🏈🏈
Sat next to Al on a flight about 25-30 years ago. Extremely nice and genuine person.
I wish Al can live and work forever.
IKR.
Al’s such a boss. Love listening to him.
Al is a legend.
Great interview and as an older guy myself I love the throwback stories . I grew up hearing those announcers from the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s.
Totally agree with his assessment on Sean McVay. Absolutely amazing what he has done at 37.
You can bring Al back anytime you have an open time slot.
Al and Rich are right, Tomlin is special. Love our Coach T💯💛🖤💛🖤💛🖤
What a legend and a class act. Al reminds me of another legend, Edwin Pope from the Miami Herald, beautiful minds. And that voice Al has and his stories just make a football game broadcast special. They broke the mold after these legends. Never retire from sports Rich. What an amazing community. Great show! Thank you.
Bought and read Al,s book . Great stories . Well done Al!
Al Michaels is a class act. I’ve watched him so many times and I really really like him. I wish I knew him better thank God for Al Michaels.
Such an epic interview! Al is a living legend! Oh, the stories. I’m 60, a lot of my hero’s are gone. Not Al. I’d love to see him do this until he’s 100!
God Bless AL Michaels a Legend and Good Guy ✌️✌️💯💯
Brilliant interview.
Love Al Michaels.
Oddly,....being 72 I can remember almost all the guys with whom Michaels worked,....his recollection and delivery are simply spectacular.
Travels with Charlie is my all-time favorite Steinbeck book and firmly planted a dream of wanderlust in my young mind when I first read it. This story makes me admire John Madden all the more.
Al Michaels is like the Forrest Gump of football! He’s everywhere where any and all important football events took place! Lol.
One of my favorite segments ever!
Have always loved Al Michaels. I do remember him and Art Eckman doing Giants games.
I love al.. miss him on Monday nights
Man. So lucky to grow up listening to Al call Monday night football
I just watched this. lol. The way the season has progressed so far is completely different than what was assumed at the time. Very interesting. Great convo on history.
I remember Al Michaels with the Reds announcing…the Cincy teams always were a birth path for announcers, always amazed me
To have one sit down period with Al would amazing
As a Brit I wish we had sports presenters and commentators who are in the same league as these guys. Fabulous!
that was a great interview with Al!
I was hooked on UHF lol…. Good stuff. Thanks Rich and Al🤙🏽🤙🏽
These interviews with broadcasters are gold. The stories are amazing. But, what's got me is Al's freaking memory. He's like a freaking sports Google drive.
I could listen to this all day
I want Al Michaels to do a podcast once he calls it a career. I could listen to his stories all day and I'm sure he has plenty.
Loving so much 18yrs old 74 World Series, Rick, Sal, Reggie, Bert, & GREATEST PITCHING STAFF IN HISTORY!!!!
What a great conversation.
Thank you Sean!
I was so impressed how Al Micheal’s handled the San Francisco WORLD series earthquake
You can see my name ☘️☘️☘️ that moment of the earthquake I was incarcerated in Jamestown fire camp in Calaveras/Sonora county, I just hand washed with bleach 5 tee shirts, I hung them on the cable line connecting the television, all of a sudden, I see my tee shirts swaying, I was confused, then I heard announcers yelling and I felt the quake...I have bad quake luck, 1987, Oct.1st or 2nd, I'm on top floor of HOJJ jail on Temple, downtown LA, boom, around 8am, a massive 7.0 quake hits, building swaying, noise deafening, aftershocks were numerous and powerful, I think that was Northridge, finally, the Whittier quake was around 1-1:30am, I was a bouncer at local bar, living in Venice Beach, in bed, quake hits, bureau/hutch mirror slams down on my head...I just couldn't believe my luck...okay, fast forward to August 1999, I fly from RI to Hollywood, rent hotel room on Highland, what are the odds? First night in LA, a quake hits.
It blew me away when they showed black and white footage of an NFL game on TNF last night and Michaels said he was at that game and the hotdogs were great.
Al is one of my aunts clients, has been for a couple decades now. She said he is amazing, you can def tell by this video, he is just a rad, laid back dude.
I was a reds fan in the early 70s I'm pretty sure I remember him calling a bunch of thfir games. I know i grew up and turned into a grownup listening to all the Monday and Thursday night games. What knowledge of the game.
Al Michaels , i hope it will never ends ,youre my, by fare favorite Voive in Football Games Kommentary , best ever !!!
..."...it was back in '71 and I was..." and Chris is frantically hammering his keyboard. "Oh...yeah. That's right!" Damn. Here's a guy who's called literally thousands of games and can recall games from 45 years ago? Again...damn. I can't remember what I had for lunch yesterday!
Imagine moving in with AL and his family. I would feel like my life was always being called like a Monday night football game. How motivating lol
Why is Al Michaels abundantly more mentally fit than our president and they are the same age?
Love Al Michaels. His voice is a reminder of my childhood.
Biden had brain aneurysm 35 years ago I believe
His voice is something, calling games was and still is his purpose.God is great!!
Al Michaels was the play-by-play announcer for the Hawai‘i Islanders of the Pacific Coast League before he got the Cincinnati Reds job.
Thin interview was gold
Al Michaels is a national treasure.
Never seen the AFC with the QBs like we have now? Jim Kelly, John Elway, Dan Marino, Joe Montana, Dan Fouts. I'll take the early and mid 1980s any day.
Al is the man
It's fascinating to hear all his stories of all the things he did and all the characters he dealt with.
This man truly blessed by God to have lived such a wonderful life ❤
Al on Monday night football with Frank Gifford brilliant
Al has an amazing memory. Incredible.
Great interview
The goat of American sports broadcasting he’s up there with Ritchie Benaud in Australia for cricket BillMcLaren for rugby union in the UK and Ray Warren in Australia for rugby league
Incredible…thank you.
Al is an American treasure and a true gentleman. It will be a sad day when he hangs it up.
The GOAT, although Kevin Harlan is calling next. Al's memory and stories are amazing.
That was so enjoyable!!!!
Love Al.
Total class act!!!
I wish he could do all the games in the NFL or just the Redzone. Such a knowledgeable man.
I heard Rich's voice on tonight's episode of Winning Time!
If Al had a podcast it would be one of the top five easy
I could listen to Michael’s tell stories all day.
This video came on while I was sleeping and I thought for sure I was listening to Howard Stern
Al has a golden voice
Do you believe in miracles that said it l United States beat Russiaa Al Michaels will go down history for that
Great stuff!!!!
Love Al!
I can't remember what time my doctors appointment is next week, but Al can remember where he was on Oct. 3, 52 years ago
We need Al and Chris back together
78 years old his mind is sharper than most 38 year old people!!!
"You had no idea you'd be working today." 😂
Whaaaattt I didn’t know that was your name TJ! That’s so dope!
What a treasure full of story's
Working hard to establish that steel trap. It's fine Al, it's the Linc not the Vet but it's not important. Legend.
National Treasure!!
I'm a raider fan for life and hate the steelers. I think Tomlin is one of the greats. I admire what he's done. I respect what their organization has done for so darn long.
Incredible
I was really hoping that they came out with his plaque at the end that he wanted
2 Legends!
Great interview 👍
Legend!
