Genius! I need to dig my headlamp out for those times the family wants to watch a movie in the dark but I want to knit. Or in the car! So many ideas swirling around my head “lamp” now!
Haha! The headlamp was a game changer for me! I love soft, ambient lamplight in the evenings, but that is not something I can crochet around! I need that bright LED light! Thanks so much, Kym!
OMG.....love the head light. Once it starts to get dark I know my crochet time is over. I’m 73 and my eyes are not as good as they used to be! I bought a pair of your type scissors on line and they wouldn’t even cut my yarn. I guess I’ll have to make a trip to Joann’s. I absolutely love all your tips....very helpful especially the invisible decrease. I have had fairly large holes show up and I’ve had to go in with extra yarn to fill in the gaps! Yuk! Wish I found you about a year ago. I made several large teddy bears with soft yarn and now their heads droop! Also I LOVE your tip regarding the rolled felt in the neck area. Thanks so much for all that you share. By the way, I live in South Florida.
I can’t even pronounce Amigurumi🤦🏽♀️ I see your passion for crocheting. You glide right through it it shows. Great information as always! I love my “stork scissors”! Everyone seems to have a different name for them. 😂 I agree with the embroidery floss. I use that in my primitive dolls. Great info.
Thanks for your information, Elise. In preparation for making the three little pigs and Winston, I ordered eyes from Glass Eyes Online today. Looking forward to making these lovable critters after finishing a pair of mosaic skull crochet fingerless gloves for my grandchild. They’re half-finished, already, so SOON I will start on these lovies! Blessings!
@@EliseRoseCrochet It’s much easier than one might think. I was surprised at how quickly I picked it up. You crochet into the back loop (single crochet), except where instructed, and the front loops become the places where the double crochet stitches drop down to pick up and create the design. It helps to be able to read the crochet chart. RUclips video (for your curiosity) - Mosaic Crochet Mini Skull Hand Warmers/Sixel Design. I bought her pattern, with the chart, which makes the design much easier to make. The video shows exactly where to crochet. I had to toss my first effort, because I placed the skull too close to the thumb opening! The skulls on it are great, for a first time mosaic crocheter!
I love your craft room, its looking so good those baskets on the wall are a great idea. I also love love love your headlamp 🤣🤣🤣 what a genius idea!!! 🤗🤗💖
Haha! The baskets are really nice! They can hold yarn and look pretty at the same time! When I use the headlamp my kids think I look insane but a gals got to do what a gals got to do!! #oldeyes
Stepped on a needle one time as a kid and it really hurt, my grandma was a seamstress. Walking around her house barefoot was asking for trouble. Her carpet was like a minefield of pins and needles. Those little pins hurt so bad when they get in between your toes. I never thought of a magnetic case, but most of my pins have those big ends on them and if I have to use anything that does not, I spend way too much time ensuring they don't get lost on the floor or in carpet.
Love your little sheep magnetic needle case. So cute! Glad to see your numbers rising. Love your work! I haven't tried a Furls hook. Haven't been willing yet to put that kind of money out. I've been using the Clover Amour hooks and love them. I wonder if it would help my hands at all, using the Furls, making the amigurumi. Sometimes it can hurt my hands making them.
Thank you so much Suzette! I originally bought the Furls hook because of my tendonitis. They are ergonomic hooks and are designed to prevent overuse injuries. I've had the one I use for a year now and love it so much! Changing yarn helped a lot as well. I no longer use cotton at all, even though it's so so pretty! There just isn't enough stretch and causes me too much pain! Thanks so much for all your support!
Everybody has to use what works for them, I don't like fat hooks or heavy ones because of my gout, but I need to keep using my hands to keep the pain away. I have an old set of gold clover hooks in a case. They are so smooth, otherwise I use Aero if I can get them or Birch. I can push my hooks right through, handle and all if they get stuck.
Recently used a plastic nose for a small Panda. A first for me & I liked the result so much! Really cute😊 I recently purchased the neck light you recommended & love it. Plus I bought them for family Christmas presents. Today I’m expecting to receive “I Can Crochet” by Bella Coco that you reviewed a couple days ago. Thanks so much for all you do to help us become better crocheters!! Just one question: would you please offer some crochet clothes for your Amigurumi. I have not learned to knit yet & I love your animal patterns. Thanks so much❣️
I’m new to your channel (listened to you on Lisa’s podcast) and I am loving watching your videos!! I love to crochet but haven’t ever tried anything but hats, blankets, and scarves. Do you have a recommendation for for a first timer wanting to try Amigurumi?
Welcome! I'm so glad you have found the channel! I will recommend the way I started. I did a tutorial from Woolly Wonders Crochet. She has wonderful amigurumi patterns. Then I would move on to Animal Friends of Pica Pau! Hope that helps!! ❤️
Hi! I’m a baby beginner amigurumi lover and watched your toolkit vid. Saw the Furls hook and went on a search. They were nearly sold out! I finally found a 3.5 mm on Etsy and paid $67 for it. Wow, can you get them to re-stock? :)
That almost happened to me! When you begin chaining for the tail you have to make sure you're at the center of the back. I bet he still looks cute! ❤️❤️❤️
Bonnie Puffin ? Are you suppose to fold and sew the wings ? Pattern doesn’t say and she has you make a circle ⭕️ can’t figure out the darn wings. Can you help ? My first pattern with Picapau and found so many mistakes. Hope the other patterns are better written. Is it just me ??? 🤪
Yes, you start with a magic ring and then it folds in half. I've seen that technique several times with other amigurumi projects too. And unfortunately, yes, there are mistakes in the first Pica Pau book. I found them with Victor Frog and also the otter. The ones I've found are minor, but no less frustrating. 🍄🍄🍄
Hi, this got long again, sorry. I use extra 'blunt' wool needles raher than pins, I hate bleeding on things. I have stitch markers, but more often use waste yarn, stays in till the bitter end without causing problems. I mark every 5 rows horizontally, to help with counting. I mark the head with left, right, centre front and back before the head is not flat anymore, also what level eyes are supposed to be. The body has sides and centre front marked to help line up the head right. I leave in markers in case I have to take bits off again. If I have made the toy before, I can count for placement on the first one, and sew ears on etc, before stuffing. To make something for practising faces on, look up on you-tube ami crochet baby monsters with Allison Hoffman crochet stitches.info, and basic beginner ami smiley face hacky sack ball toy, from naztazia.com, who also shows how to make easy comic style eyes. i found these very good for learners. Easy to make peas in a pod...

I like to use bobby pins as my stitch markers. they never come out/loose.
PS I use the head lamp for hand embroidery haha great minds think alike.
That is actually a really great idea! And they won't leave rust stains!
That’s what I use 😊.

I find a scale useful when making amigurumi to weigh stuffing for arms and legs.
That's a great idea! ❤️❤️❤️

Wish I could! I have seen that the 3.5 mm hook can be tough to find. Sometimes just doing an Amazon search is helpful as well. 💜💜💜

You can buy Coiless safety pins that are rust proof
Thanks for sharing! ❤
Where can you order that eye pack from....is it online....looks like a great supply stash
I bought it from Amazon and unfortunately it doesn't have a brand name on it. So sorry!
When I make the Bonny puffin tail it’s off to the side instead of straight. Not sure what I did wrong.

Hi, could you repet me the brand of the hooks? Please
I'm not sure exactly what you're looking for. Could you elaborate a little? Thank you! 😊
@@EliseRoseCrochet lol sorry the hooks, the brand of the hooks
ODG $33-43 for a single crochet hook. I don't think so. I understand the need for a great hook, but not that price
I definitely get that. They are not cheap. 💓
....Polyfill?
That's the name of the toy stuffing we use here in the US. Hope that answers your question! 🍄🌷🍄🌷
