Just remember folks, if you are catch and release trout fishing in temperatures below freezing, try your best to keep the fish in the water. In that instance, the water is actually warmer than the air, and a trout’s gill tissue can begin “flash freezing” right away.
That was really entertaining in some pretty country. The brookie has that special place in my heart as it was my first landed trout, Colorado back in the 70's. Thanks for the show.
Definitely enjoyed the video. I had a day similar to yours many moon's ago. Snow all around me,so still and peaceful,it also included a nice 14 inch brown. Thanks for sharing 👍.
Great video. It's easy to drop stuff in the cold 🥶 weather and snow ❄. It's also easy to retrieve it with a small fat magnet. One out of the back of an old microwave works really good. Freakin Winter WONDERLAND man😲👍....gorgeous, just gorgeous. 😃👍 Beautiful little guys too bro. Just watchin ya out there was given me chills...NOT IN A WEIRD WAY either🙄....just looked COLD 🥶. Thanks for makin this my friend and plz keep em comin. Peace ✌😎
A dry fly fish in January - that’s awesome! Appreciate your observations about where trout reside in pools in winter; I think you’re quite right. Thanks for sharing this winter outing with us - much appreciated!
Shew tough fishing in those conditions. I've done it many times, but the Ice along the banks, and ice floating down stream is a nightmare lol. You caught some nice Brookies!!
Awesome! I am stuck on the wrong job, need a break! I am only surviving on Beans & Fishing Videos! Great Work! I dream I am fishing these streams! In Love with Blackwater Eddies. Fairwinds!
@@hardmanfishing Always do it it's awesome and sums up exactly why you're out there in just a few words I also like the "let's GOOOOOOOOO" like your favorite team scored a touchdown I do THE SAME THING on the water awesome videos man keep going!
Low 30’s ain’t a bad temp or day to spend on any creek bank fishing for winter trout. I was up in Kingwood for a few weeks last month for work and it was COLDDD. I’m back in Grand Junction CO now and looking to fish Ridgeway or the Gunnison soon. Hope to get on a midge hatch. Loved the video man!
There's a hatch today and tomorrow here in Cherokee NC. It's in the 50s during the day. It will of course be chilly in the morning and you catch well but about 2pm to 4pm you will catch great. Just trying to give you a heads up. Tony
That's a beautiful stretch of stream. Done a lot of early season fishing in WV, and it's often rough going but worth it. I've never been there. Looks like a great spot. Nice video.
Your gonna have to show me around my home waters I live in nc but was born and raised in Wyoming Co WV never took up fly fishing until 7 yrs ago nice weather up there to be fishing
In this video I was using my euro rod which was not ideal, I think you can even hear me complaining about it at one point. So the line was actually euro line.
Usually I'll fish a creek once and move a ton of water (fish a mile or so if I can). If there are any number of wild trout I'll at least spook one. If I don't then I move on to a new creek because either there aren't any wild trout, or so few that it probably isn't worth my time.
I’ve passed that unique rock formation many times, it always has several anglers fishing it. I especially loved the dry fly take, that was awesome! Thanks again, this video really helped the fishing withdrawal I have been going through.🎣
Hey guys I have been watching you guys for about 4 years now when I first started watching you used a spinning reel a lot then now you guys don’t use them at all please bring back spinning gear video’s you guys showed me a lot about fishing for trout with spinning gear in world love to see more stay safe out there stay strong GOD BLESS
I don't spin fish are much now just because I don't enjoy it as much. Fly fishing is challenging and makes me think. I'm sure I'll be doing more spin fishing videos in the future but it probably ever be as common as it used to be! Thanks for watching and for the support over the years!
I've always wanted to fish dry dropper, but in bc we a dumb rules. Like if you're fishing from shore you can only use one rod, but if you're in a boat you can use two.
@@hardmanfishing only single barbless hooks, so I think that means no dry dropper, shame because I'll have fish strike my strike indicator, if that was a dry I'd have a fish
Winter trout fishing is so rough, all good water is closed around Washington. Just got back from an outing, got my butt kicked by the fish. Have you ever wanted to try for some steelhead? Seems right up your ally but I know there aren’t any where you are

Yep you should always keep the fish out of the water a minimal amount.
Thank you for the information, new to trout fishing so I appreciate all the knowledge I can get 🙌🏿
Can’t wait to see you get on the big boys like the Steeles! Beautiful fish!
He will shit his pants if he catches a steelhead
Nice trout search, Brown, Rainbow, and Brooke, Brooke, Brooke. Well Done, nice video.

That is a nice winter outing. You sure found the wintering-over hole there at the end. It is good to see brookies thriving in that stream.
They're living their best life for sure. It's always good to see. Thanks for watching!
Awesome video makes me more excited for a little warmer weather to start trout fishing.

It was only 9 degrees here in Pennsylvania but the warm weather is coming.

Great installment! Thanks for sharing your winter tips. Hope to dial in a brook trout creek like that this year, but they are rare.
They're more common than you think.. but having said that they're tough to find!! I wish you the best of luck

When exploring new streams, how many times do you fish it, or how much of it do you fish, before determining that there aren’t any fish in the creek?

Fished this spot a few time absolutely love fishing this area of West Virginia
That reminds me of those model landscapes that use clear resin with blue dye added to make the water look bottomless.
It is a beautiful river that is for sure, especially in the lower water conditions.
Great videos! What kind of fly you use? 🤔
Air netting, love it
What the hell is the barrels with the barb wire across them? Looks like a wader ripper.
I think it was a spot that allows cattle to get a drink in the creek.
Great video 👍
Thanks, Rick
whats your favorite rod set up for fishing small creeks?
Usually a 7'6" 3 wt
Banging trip bro!!! I’m the winter if you dry drop try BWO dry and dropper or black stones
That's the juice for sure!! All of my stoneflies sink my BWO's though HAHA

Hey Buddy! What a great video! Loved the drone footage keep it going. What do you about that rock out cropping? That was fantastic.

I've always wanted to fish dry dropper, but in bc we a dumb rules. Like if you're fishing from shore you can only use one rod, but if you're in a boat you can use two.

Ice is structure. A slow drift along the edge of the ice is often deadly when conditions permit.
