Can we all agree that the voice actor for Thrawn was absolutely perfect? Seriously, try and read anything with Thrawn in it and NOT have Lars' voice in your head now.
No, it was too soft and effeminate. Not the voice of a charismatic commander. The best Thrawn voice actor was Marc Thompson doing the original trilogy (NOT the recent books where he copies Mikkelsen).
@CT-7667 Cool. I haven't read Zahn's new books yet. I kind of didn't like how in books like Choices of One, he made Thrawn into more of a nice guy. The Thrawn of his original trilogy was ruthless af and was an excellent villain, undoubtedly filling Vader's shoes. The funny thing is that the Rebels series did a better job returning him to his ruthless origins.
As to why Thrawn continued bombarding Lothal, he did say something like "I didn't want to do this, but it's unavoidable now." Perhaps he had orders to bomb the city. He has a conscience, but Palpy sure doesn't.

@@LysimedVenteel i always thought of thrawn like a guy like snape from harry potter just somone who gets his hands dirty and does things for the greater good even though they would conflict with his personal values
Honestly, Legends Thrawn is waaaaay more of a threat than this version. Give Heir to the Empire, Dark Force Rising and Final Command a read, you won't regret it.
Great point on Thrawn's continued bombardment of the city even after Ezra surrenders. He knew Ezra could just decide to do something sneaky instead of actually turning himself in. Great speech by Timothy Zahn on why we had to move on from Legends. No room for new post-Jedi movies and to go through and a la carte choose things to remain canon would be a nightmare. And yes the stories aren't going anywhere and can still be enjoyed.
The marvel fandom that read the comics and kept up with all of the media(comics, movies, t.v. shows) is significantly larger than Star Wars. Marvel is probably around 30 percent of fans that keep track of everything whereas less than 1% of all star wars fans have read a large amount of the books. Couple that with the fact that the EU had gotten really convoluted and by the end you had to have read a majority of the books to understand what was going on in the most recent books. I read about 1 or 2 star wars books a month and I started last year and I'm still not to the Legacy of the Force and the Fate of the Jedi, which is where the new movies would have had to have been set in the timeline. You can also add to the fact that Timothy Zahn, Kevin J. Anderson, Michael A Stackpole, Aaron Allston and Christie Golden, all authors who wrote for the Star Wars expanded universe, all knew that they were not writing canon in the first place. They were writing media tie-in fiction which was purely for the enjoyment of the reader and to make Del Rey Publishing/Lucasfilm Publishing money. When 150 million people have seen 1 or more Star Wars films, only around 3 million have read the best selling star wars book(Heir to the Empire), and only around 150,000 or less fans have read more than 10 of the books, it really makes sense why you would move it to legends. Especially since the authors themselves are ok with their work not being canon.
+Albert Einstein It's not. If you look up the original A New Hope ticket sales, you will see that there were around 150 million tickets sold. If you listen to what Michael A. Stackpole said at Dragon Con in 2016, he said that Timothy Zahn's novel "Heir to the Empire"(which were #1 on the New York Times Bestseller List) only sold about 1.5 million units(Hardcover and Paperback). That, being the top book in terms of sales, means that ony 1% of Star Wars fans have read that book. That number does get lower when you look at the other books and it drops significantly when you look at people who have read many of the books. The average of the remaining books is typically under 100,000(certain books are the exception such as the Phantom Menace Novelization, The Force Awakens Novelization, The Force Unleashed, The Last Jedi Novelization, and Thrawn Alliances). So, lets say that everyone who purchased those other books have read everything(which they haven't, but for calculations sake then we will say that they have) then only 100,000 people have kept up with the Star Wars Expanded Universe books. That means that 100,000 divided by 150 million is .07%. That means less than 1 tenth of 1 percent of fans have read the novels. If they based the films off of the Legacy of the Force or Fate of the Jedi, they would have to have lots of additional exposition(Ex. the Dark Nest Trilogy, the New Jedi Order Series, the Young Jedi Knights Series, the Thrawn Trilogy, etc) which most people would not understand or follow, which is not condusive to a franchise. Therefore, everything I said is not WRONG, but therefore right. If it is wrong, why is it wrong?
Unlike with Star Wars, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is a completely different universe from the various comics and other stories and was designed to be that way from the very first Iron Man film. Even within Marvel Comics themselves, they'll just set things in a different universe when they want to tell new stories that don't fit alongside previous ones, and I'm not sure but haven't they had their own share of continuity reboots? I know DC certainly has.
Personally, I thought he was fine. Honestly the only people I usually see mad about his portrayal are the people who never really liked Rebels in the first place.
This is fair. And although I wasn't ever really that big of a fan of rebels, I would hope my quarrels with Thrawn's representation in Rebels are well founded beyond my personal prejudices.
Sam Pines Yea I was never a fan of Rebels. I thought Thrawn was just poorly handled. I’m not mad, I’m just disappointed. Think about it. The strategic mastermind, the one of the only aliens in the Empire, gets kidnapped by an annoying teenager with space whales
Joseph Iorio anything sounds bad when you say it with that attitude. Vader the master of the darkside in a dark cloak and pitch black helmet, dies to a bit of electricity from a 100 year old. See how that works?
Joseph Iorio Zahn said it himself: he wins as long he can control or take into account the various factors, the moment something ineffable like the Force comes in his plans fall apart.
Off topic, but I find it really funny how people 180’d on Rebels now that’s it over. When it was running a lot of people were calling it a “trash show for kids”. Now most of the comments under the Resistance trailer say that it’s never gonna be as good as Rebels was.
DirtyMack Rose tinted glasses. Same with the clone wars. Both were very mediocre shows aimed primarily at kids but people look at them as a holy grail when the next hate bandwagon comes along.
@@olliesloane151 I say more of Clone Wars actually got better over time and played what they got. And had to put out good story material for it's audience. Rebels is fine and all but the show really didn't out do themselves when it comes to good ideas they set up like inquisters or Ezra messing with the Sith Holocron, it's either resolved in one episode and not bother with ever agian, or anything old idea had huge quality drop.
Dave Filoni and Pablo Hidalgo, (and most of the animation team and story group at Lucasfilm,) are big enough Star Wars fans to be just as knowledgeable and appreciative of the E.U. as anyone else. They too had nothing but E.U. novels, comic books, and games, during the, "dark times," after Return of the Jedi, to pacify their fandom with, just like us. They're just the lucky ones who have the privilege of creating new Star Wars content, and how they've handled pulling certain characters and themes from, "Legends," material, is a testament to their fandom. Which is another reason why we're all so automatically comfortable with anything Dave Filoni creates, and why alot of people are just wanting him to be given more live-action responsibilities, like his own, "Star Wars story," or new trilogy, as opposed to some other people, if not just completely running things over there at Lucasfilm. #GiveFiloniTheWheel #CloneWarsSaved #HashtagsSuck
Kinda bold to mention Hidalgo in the same sentence as Filoni. Although Dave has created some things that really break the canon as well. Two words: Inhibitor Chip.
Personally, I thought that Thrawn was handled well, but could have been better. I found myself really disappointed with the finale with the Purrgil, yes it was the only way to catch Thrawn off guard, but it also made it feel as though the victory was unearned to the rebels. A story that only got one episode of screen time comes out of left field and just wraps up the entire story, I just can't feel satisfied with that kind of ending. Other than that, I really enjoyed Thrawn's portrayal in Rebels.
Thrawn, Maul, Rex, Vader and Ahsoka (along with Bendu and and the time traveling episode with Mortis trio) saved Rebels from being goofy disney show IMO.
It wasn't a victory if it was it would contradicts to a new hope opening saying "the first victory against the empire" scariff is the first rebel victory that's why in rebels they used purgil instead of Rebel Ships or reinforcements if they did it will contradict
Glad he found it a good representation. because if he didn't, I'm sure all the Hate channels would have videos like THRAWN CREATOR HAAATATTTESSSS HOW DISNEY HANDLED HIM
Nah, because they don't care that much. That type of people is just disgusting and is no star wars fan. They really don't care about anything starwars.... They just care about their idiocy
@@agustinbaletti A lot of people have legitimately criticism of how Disney has handled star wars. The sequel trilogy was absolutely awful, it's not defensible. Beyond that, people do have criticisms of things, sometimes it seems like they're just looking to find something to criticize, but it's not that often. Oh important thing though, Disney steals peoples art, copyright strikes anything star wars related, and talks down to the fans on a regular basis. The fact that you can't even have the ingame music playing in a playthrough of a star wars video game shows how dumb Disney's copyright war is. Compare this to George Lucas, where parody, fan films, were encouraged and people wouldn't be copyright struck for illegitimate grounds.
I think the character of Thrawn was perfectly executed in the show, I just wish he would have had more victories over the rebels. It feels like when he finally made his move against the rebel base he was defeated and then after that had no major victories. However, like Mr. Zahn said, in all instances he lost because of things he couldn’t control or anticipate. The bendu, space whales, and admiral Constantine disobeying orders.
The Battle of Attilon was still a major victory for the Empire. It just wasn't the total victory that the Empire was hoping for it to be. It's a lot like the Battle of Hoth in that respect.
I loved the portrayal. It had to be paired down a hair for the kids but ultimately, my adult brain loved the character in rebels. Reading Alliances now.
When I was 7 years old in the '90s, the original Star Wars trilogy changed my whole world. Then my old man blew my mind when he said there were Star Wars books that continued the story. Then I read this masterpiece called Heir to the Empire. Since then, Thrawn is my all-time favorite Star Wars character.
I love Timothy Zahn, but call me skeptical. Even if he had issues, I realize that he can't exactly be candid when he's still writing books for Star Wars.
I have started reading the Heir to the Empire series, and I like Thrawn's Canon portrayal way better than his Legends portrayal. I Legends he was a genius, but other than that he was pretty one dimensional. In Canon (and a little in Outbound Flight) Thawn is more interesting because of his torn loyalty to the Chiss Ascendency.
@@GAdmThrawn Perhaps "one dimensional" was the wrong word, but, in Legends, Thrawn was just as arrogant and self centered as any other Imperial officer. In Canon, he has a degree of honor and a complex commitment to both the Empire and the Ascendancy.
@@obi-wankenobi2356 There are things in the universe that are simply and purely evil. A warrior does not seek to understand them, or to compromise with them. He seeks only to obliterate them. ITS FUCKIN’ OBI WAN KENOBI is a perfect example
LTDLimiTeD1995 same. I would be very happy if they continued legends as a separate continuity. I really don't like the majority of the new canon stuff. Especially the Mandalorians and the post Endor period.
Vexkun at least we still have some fan made stuff. The mods for Empire At War are pretty cool and most of them follow the legends timeline. A lot of them are still being updated too.
They knew Thrawn couldn't win, otherwise he'd have destroyed the Rebellion completely and that can't happen. If he's gonna be there he can't be his usual, damn near psychic self. I thought that was why he'd been brought in here before the Battle of Yavin, when he's younger, less experienced, and has never had to deal with anything like the Force before. That plus people disobeying orders is a recipe for destruction.
@@brennantorretta7749 but he's never seen the force used like it is in Rebels especially in the last season. Thrawn himself is not force sensitive and aside from Chiss skywalkers he doesn't experience it on a regular basis, as such the force was something he simply couldn't prepare for and thus it's by the force that he's beaten.
Is it possible that Thrawn bombarded Lothal on Palpatine's orders? After Ezra was brought before Palpatine on the Chimaera, Thrawn had no reason to continue the assault on the city. I think that (at least in Rebels), Thrawn was portrayed as fiercely loyal to Palpatine, he often referred to him as "my Emperor" and during the Battle of Atollon, Thrawn said that he doesn't need glory, but only results for Palpatine. So if bombarding civilians is not Thrawn's style, why do it after Ezra's surrender? That definitely seems more like a tactic Palpatine would employ: inflicting terror on the Imperial population. Someone willing to allocate unimaginable amounts of resources to construct two battle stations that can destroy entire planets surely isn't above having one of his top personnel fire laser cannons on a city from the sky, possibly to make an example of Lothal to the rest of the galaxy. And while outside of Rebels (meaning in the Thrawn books and comics), who Thrawn's allegiance truly lies with is ambiguous and the extent of his loyalty to the Empire is more questionable, even then, I can't picture him doing that without being told to, and I can only think one person capable of giving Thrawn orders: Emperor Palpatine. And I doubt Thrawn would defy Palpatine even if he wasn't truely loyal to the Empire. I hope that makes sense to anyone reading this.
Great video! I was also impressed with TV Thrawn. Aside from how his character works in the show I refer to the animation design of Thrawn, his eerie soundtrack, his controlled movements, and of course Lars Mikkelsen's voice sent shivers down your spine. I have two theories about the bombardment of Lothal. The first is that when Thrawn was on Coruscant, the Emperor agreed to support his TIE defender project on the condition that Thrawn bring Ezra Bridger to him. Thrawn knows Ezra's weakness is his people and that's why he attacked the city to make certain the Jedi would do exactly as he said. Second, this isn't the same Thrawn who started off in the Empire trying to minimize civilian casualties. In "Rebels" he has been defeated by forces he can't understand and the Ghost crew has been a thorn in Thrawn's side for far too long. So it makes sense to me that he'd go to brutal extremes, telling Ezra that Lothal will be destroyed even *after* Ezra surrendered to him.
I actually enjoyed his presentation in Rebels more then in Zahn's last two books. Remember that Thrawn in the Heir Trilogy was polite, but also completely ruthless. He's a lot closer to Tarkin in those three books then how he was in his later appearances. I'll let Zahn himself describe Thrawn "The Lady Vader they would take alive, and save as gift for their lord the Grand Admiral. Who would smile, and speak politely, and take her children away from her."
Timothy Zahn wrote the only Episode 7, 8, and 9 that I acknowledge. I just listened to the Thrawn trilogy on Audible. I haven’t read the books in years, but it was pure gold. Truly a great Star Wars author.
I personally think that Thrawn was generally handled well on the show despite a few nit-picky gripes I had with the portrayal that didn’t seem entirely faithful to the Legends counterpart.
What do you mean? Thrawn stopped firing once Ezra surrendered. Although he did intend and attempt to completely destroy Lothal later in the episode, but he said it wasn't something he actually wanted to do, implying it was something he was ordered to do by The Emperor. Or, perhaps, it was something Thrawn felt necessary as to make an example of such rebelious actions, and in his corrupt mind, justified it as such. Coulda also been to prevent an uprising on the world, especially after the citizens had already witnessed an ISD open fire on them for no reason (from their perspective anyway). Regardless the reason, Thrawn is a villain. He isn't a complete monster, but he is ruthless and will do what it takes, that is his character and I don't see how Rebels went against it.
They kinda can’t bring Mara back. The way Lucasfilm’s story group has explained it is because in Legends Mara was a dark Jedi. And they don’t agree with the concept of dark/grey jedi because it’s a contradiction(and it is). And with the creation of the inquisitors as the emperors assassins, Mara wouldn’t fit in there either as she’d have to be pretty damn evil(which Mara never was). So in order for her to be re introduced into canon her character would have to be altered tremendously. BUT there is some good news on this front. Story group has given Timothy Zahn partial creative freedom over the character. He can re-introduce her at any time as long as it’s a mutual agreement between Zahn and Story group.
@@Prof_Tickles92 Mara was one of the Emperor's Hands. They were assassins that only took orders from the Emperor. Very few people even knew they existed. The Inquisitors are and always have been Jedi hunters, not assassins. They are an official branch of the Empire and are pretty well known. There is no reason Mara couldn't be reintroduced as one of the Emperor's Hands or something like that. Emperor's Hands still exist in Disney canon btw, so there's no real issue with it.
What is he supposed to say it was badly done. He works for Disney of course he going to say it was well done They showed Thrawn to be stuiped he is a master at warfare Instead of rebels. Should have done the thrawn trilogy it is 100 times better then what we got
I really love this format where you debate about quotes from authors/creators! Very interesting to hear their point of view on many different things and say "yeah I agree" or "nah that's not my opinion"
I want to see more from Drew Karpyshyn. He was one of their best authors IMO. And I'd love to see some new canon stuff from him. It'd be great to see him write a book that reintroduces the old republic and some of those characters to the new canon.
Does anybody knows what Legends materials can I learn about the Yhuuzhan-Vong and the Chiss ascendancy?? I've just read the Thrawn trilogy, but I feel really lost about what to read next. I want to know more about Mara Jade and the future of the Solo Twins!
One of my favorite Thrawn moments in rebels is the Patton reference. Where he is standing there shooting at Sabine making a strafing run in a tie defender then complamenting her skill. Just like Patton did to 2 German pilots after doing the same thing
As well as he could be. The writers and directors were long time Star Wars fans who grew up with him. Sadly... Thrawn just works better in books than on screen... and yet he still came across as competent and several steps ahead of the heroes so well done overall.
They really flattened him. Regardless of whether or not you think Thrawn is evil, he had *personality* in the books-the guy dresses up as a Mandalorian, drinks beer on the job, gets all wistful about coral art, shrugs, scoffs, smiles, etc (and NOW we know he brings his closest friends tea). Rebels Thrawn’s personality is “smart cultured evil dude who has a Thing for art.” A mustache twirling Bond villain. He’s lifeless. And unnecessarily creepy. A blue Nosferatu (complete with spooky organ music! XD) lurking in the darkness instead of the dignified, intimidating, darkly charismatic figure in the books. And I can’t say I’m fond of the new character design, either. One thing I will say Rebels got right was the sarcasm and subtle sass he delivers when an associate does something he finds particularly stupid. Edit: also, I’m highly suspicious of Zahn’s approval of how Thrawn was handled because a lot of the character’s actions in Rebels are directly contrary to what he does and says in legends books. I mean, what’s Zahn going to do? Say he doesn’t like how Disney treated his character? Career suicide right there, lol.
I personally quite like that Thrawn wasn’t just easily killed or defeated tactically. He wasn’t the perfect guy either. I love how he actually has faults and weaknesses in Canon and he’s only defeated a couple times by creatures he possibly couldn’t have predicted...
Never seen Rebels and despite considering myself a SW nerd for years, I gave up on the movies after TROS, but personally, Star Wars has never been so engrossing as the original Thrawn Trilogy books. That was an Author who GOT Star Wars as it was for me back then (late 90s when I first read them, and again around 03-04). I've never read Zahn's other SW books but I highly recommend his novels The Icarus Hunt and Angelmass. Both of those books are stand alone epics in their own right but if you still have that romantic 70s-90s Han Solo style vision of science fiction, both of those books will please you. i say that even being really anti-novel (I find it hard to relate to any protagonist fir even the most minor of things, which means I very rarely read or stick to novels. Zahn is different).
He went from being pretty much the emperor to such a minute small role, he helped reinvigorate Star Wars as a whole and is debatably the biggest legends character and he became this small time little character on a very okay kids show, I’d rather him have just stayed in legends than become a super watered down version of himself
I never grew up with being exposed to Thrawn as a kid. What I looked up about him and what glimpses I seen of Thrawn in Rebels it felt like they did understand him, but he was significantly de-powered for his initial incarnation from before. He was basically like a force of nature in the old material in which the older generation talks about. I am not surprised they done this, though, in a kid's show. The Clone Wars already shown proved to me Star Wars cartoons will water down stuff from what they were originally. When Thrawn came around I didn't expect him to be at that level of o.p. I did see him being portrayed as a powerful threat closely living up to the rep. he had before, but not to the same intensity. It's just that the series I knew would just dumb him down enough where they do not have to come up with a complex plot of how the characters would defeat or make it out alive against him. In other words I knew the series wanted to make a cliche Saturday morning heroic adventure plot. You know. Kind of like Skeletor or Thundercats. The villain would be threatening but at the end of the day/episode he always devolved to being undermined or defeated by the hero in a simple way and they yell out, "I'll get you next time, _____ (insert name.)!" The thing that made me say cootos to the production staff is they didn't water him down too much like they could have. It was clearly a compromise in between level to suit them, and not too much where it undermines the fans memory of the first Thrawn.
I have a question for the next Q&A that I think a lot of people would be interested in your thoughts on... what do you think would happen hundreds or thousands of years in the future after episode IX? We have good prequels that take place thousands of years before, and something a long time after shouldn't cause too many conflicts with the canon story line.
Thrawn was portrayed very well, however, because of the nature of the show he could only win so much despite his overwhelming advantages. It can be hard to watch a character so good at what they do always get bested because the good guys have to win in the end.
Watching thrawn in rebels after reading the book gives so much perspective to him and Governor price. It makes it a lot more enjoyable than it already was
Lars Mikkelsen’s Thrawn is the Hannibal lecter of Star Wars. Minus the cannibalism and murderous tendencies. Which is why I love the character soooooo much
Not really. Compared to how great he was in the Thrawn trilogy I don't think having him in a kid friendly show was enough to show off what he can do because they're so limited. Thrawn's brutality was masked because it HAD to be on Disney channel. Had it been on Cartoon Network like Clone Wars then they could've gone all out with him.
Well make it worse it the channel they just throw shows away when it's not a live action sit com. Alot of good Disney cartoons is thrown there because Disney main focus is live action shows.
i mean its not like he can say he hated it but i do agree, i personally feel Thrawn was handled perfectly i just wish he was in it more but he's not dead yet so obviously we will see him again soon.
Rebels never let the Empire win, the good guys always won. It's nonsense. Even Attolon was made a loss in Thrawn Alliances. How do you not give the all powerful Empire one significant victory over four seasons?
I agree with this. I enjoy Rebels for what it is, but Thrawn never really comes across as a significant threat because he keeps losing. I think the show would have worked better if the Empire and Thrawn had won a string of victories in season 3 and early 4, and then only at the end the Rebels manage to turn it around.
Exactly. That's why I loved the Clone Wars. Cad Bane actually won and was a terrifying threat. Also the Separatists actually had competent admirals, like Admiral Trench. Some would go as far as to say that the villains sometimes won too much lol.
Albert Einstein or if the villains didn’t win, they exacted a real cost. Maul killed Satine, so even though he was overthrown it still felt like the good guys lost something important to them.
But even Thrawn didn't lose Attolon. He was utterly smashing the rebels and destroying their fleet, and it was only Admiral Constantine's actions that allowed Ezra to escape.
I wonder if he'll be related to Snoke in some way. Not to sound rude, but I think Smith has a very roughly handled made from clay sort of facial features, which they could accentuate and alter with makeup and whatever else to bring his appearance closer to Snoke's(check out his old Doctor appearance for what I mean) He'd also fit as a First Order officer or even a Knights of Ren. Or he could be a Resistance member.
NO he wasn't handled that well (personality n looks) but Tim has to say yes bcos Disney owns everything, including thrawn. They could just tell them not to use thrawn anymore if tim isn't positive
He stopped a sabotage effort on lothal, put the tie defender into production, discovered callus was a spy, found their base and drove them out of it, severely damaged the rebel fleet and very nearly defeated the rebels at lothal but the pergil showed up. Zahn himself said that thrawn can only be defeated by something beyond his predictions
My only addition is that..as much as I love Zahn... you gotta take what he said about how they used him in Rebels, with a grain of salt..What is he going to say "No, I don't like it, these people paying me, completely trashed my character!" Zahn and with all interviews like this...they sort of *have* to say certain things or come off as being atleast happy with it.

I like how he was handled in every episode. Except the last two episodes. I hate how they treated him there. Tactical? Yes. Somewhat uncaring? Yes. But I disagree that he would have bombarded a city. His shooting at Lothal was something I fully disagree with. His scolding of the Jedi ideology was also something I disagree with.
As a character? Yes they did him, Justice. But as Credible Threat? No because of Plot armor the main cast had protected them. Thrawn was no different in this show than any other villains who keep losing or have their plans foiled like vader, inquisitors, other imperial officers, Tarkin, the emperor, etc. because the show being kid-friendly in my opinion if Thrawn would have been better introduced in more mature show.
When he said one of the founding fathers of the Eu at first I thought wait a minute why is one of the founders of the European Union talking about Star Wars, and then I was like ohh wait it’s the extended universe…ops. Lol my brain sometimes
Why was Leia scheduled for execution so hastily? Did the emperor know that they had her? Surely the emperor could have read her mind and gotten useful information about the rebellion.
Honestly I disagree with Timothy on the matter. I feel he was looking at it from a surface view and kinda obligated to say positive things to keep working with Disney later as Disney very much so will hold a DEEP grudge against you. I feel they made him less of a deep character by changing his motivations and having him defeated by such well? Honestly nobodies this time around.
I feel like he was done excellently, tho they seem tired of him by the end and the writing becomes more generic and Thrawn a more bland baddie. But I was surprised how many elements of his character actually made it into Rebels even tho they were basically bonuses for the superfans. His love of art, keen study of other races and cultures, superb fighting ability. If he recruited and chatted with people a bit more often he’d have been perfect.
Instead of making this interview please make a video answering these questions: 1) Is James Bond 007 agent beter than Luke regading fighting? 2) Was Leiah a nice woman? 3) What if Gallius Rax results to be Snoke?

This is why I like Zahn as a star wars writer, he likes what lucasfilm is doing and he compares legends to literal legends and myths, I love it
Rebels was my first exposure to Thrawn, so it's literally all I know of the character, and I can see why he is so loved from Legends.
That's bullshit. Marvel has no room and do old stories, why the double standard for Star Wars?
@@jonathankoan Nope. Everything you said is wrong.

Off topic, but I find it really funny how people 180’d on Rebels now that’s it over. When it was running a lot of people were calling it a “trash show for kids”. Now most of the comments under the Resistance trailer say that it’s never gonna be as good as Rebels was.
Because people are dropping their standard of quality to accommodate. Garbage shows like Rebels and Resistance are now called average.
DirtyMack Rose tinted glasses. Same with the clone wars. Both were very mediocre shows aimed primarily at kids but people look at them as a holy grail when the next hate bandwagon comes along.

The Purrgil are now the Eagles from Lord of the Rings.
I feel it was a good way for Ezra’s connection with nature that they’ve been building up for the whole series to finally pay off

It wasn't a victory if it was it would contradicts to a new hope opening saying "the first victory against the empire" scariff is the first rebel victory that's why in rebels they used purgil instead of Rebel Ships or reinforcements if they did it will contradict

"But...it was so artistically done."

Me, one dimensional? You need to read those books a lot more carefully.

The chiss have force sensitive navigators, and he met anakin during the clone wars
I’m really liking these shorter question videos! Keep up the good work!
I actually enjoyed his presentation in Rebels more then in Zahn's last two books. Remember that Thrawn in the Heir Trilogy was polite, but also completely ruthless. He's a lot closer to Tarkin in those three books then how he was in his later appearances. I'll let Zahn himself describe Thrawn
"The Lady Vader they would take alive, and save as gift for their lord the Grand Admiral.
What chance would you give the Yuuzhan Vong being made canon and in what format would be best live action or animation
I agree that it did feel a little "We'll let them go this time" but overall i liked him, and his voice actor was awesome
I want Mara back in canon :(
They kinda can’t bring Mara back.
Professor_Tickles 92 remake Mara Jade within canon can be done, as a different badass character but fighting the Dark Side.

Look up both scenes and you'll see what I mean lol

All of The Factions mentiones use
their repective military/polive equipment of every kind and with their respective military/police uniforms, military/police equipment of every kind and military/police colours/emblems.
and
Will the Rogue Squadron Missions that were played in Rogue Squadron Games in N64, and Nintendo GameCube vetween Episodes 4 and 5 and 6 included in the Star Wars disney cannon?
Thrawn has a lot of trouble with space themed earth animals
Thrawn and Vader are easily the best parts about the show.
Legends always has and always will be better than the Disney's story line.
If you exclude the sequel era canon is actually really solid imo, especially the era between ep3 and 4 is full with great content
The EU will forever be in my heart
As a character? Yes they did him, Justice.
But as Credible Threat? No because of Plot armor the main cast had protected them.
Thrawn was no different in this show than any other villains who keep losing or have their plans foiled like vader, inquisitors, other imperial officers, Tarkin, the emperor, etc. because the show being kid-friendly in my opinion if Thrawn would have been better introduced in more mature show.
Thrawn was only defeated in the finale
Lars Mikkelson was the best voice actor for Thrawn so far.
Oh yes. Oh god damn yes.
You guys are so cute together...
"Hello there."
No fighting
But still half people go they did it right
And other half go THEY MESSED UP
Whats the big deal with purgills???
Bendu's species name confirmed
Honestly I disagree with Timothy on the matter. I feel he was looking at it from a surface view and kinda obligated to say positive things to keep working with Disney later as Disney very much so will hold a DEEP grudge against you. I feel they made him less of a deep character by changing his motivations and having him defeated by such well? Honestly nobodies this time around.
I felt Thrawn was a tiny bit off in Rebels, but if Zahn himself is OK with it, then I guess it's just me being silly
Other than the "we'll let them go this time" he was pretty good.
I was a little disappointed that he didn’t expect Konstantine to disobey him, but otherwise I LOVED everything about Thrawn in Rebels.

The only way to defeat thrwan, plot armor
