    I always like to listen to prof Ilan Pappe's lectures/speeches, but this time he was very personal about it and I don't blame him. Unlike Finkelstein and Chomsky, he's an Israeli.
    Just dunno about Israel being so mighty and powerful, that it would not need US for its own survival (58:50). If it were not for the US bullying and meddling for decades in the region, a lot of those countries rich in oil, would have already built a respectable defense, including nuclear defense by now, that would be able to put Israel on an equal footing, making it finally grow up and behave as a neighbor country and not as an artificial entity put there with no relations or regards to the region.
    Israel can kill some nuclear physicists from Iran, but it's the US bullying and meddling that's keeping middle eastern countries, from prospering and developing to their full potential, economically and militarily.
    It's like a bully kid holding another kid down, with its hands tied to his back, telling another kid: "here, hit him, there's nothing he can do to retaliate". It's not difficult to figure out which kid is the US and which one is Israel.

    The King-Crane-Commission (1919) adressed consequences to which people of Palestine suffer today. Other commissions reached similar conclussions, but the colonial power of abuse and supremacy were so powerful, they too were shelfed.

    When that person asked how sure are we that Palestinians would support democracy in one state, it reminded me of apartheid apologists who argued that the Africans would make SA a barbaric state if they were granted freedom. The funny thing is that these people ignore how the rise of extremist Islamic movements in the Middle East is due to euro-american imperialism, which Israel is instrumental in. Settler colonies all try to pathologize and dehumanize the people they oppress, whether in South Africa or Israel.

      Yep----Years ago South Africans and other racists screamed that Black equality would bring on a bloodbath. Nothing like it happened. Now we hear the same from Zionists so guilty with their own crimes that they cannot imagine anybody living in peace beside them. Time to grow the fuck up!

    The story about the Peel-commision (formally known as the Palestine Royal Commission), david gruen and the zionost historian essentially incapsulates a core neo-con position;
    "It is easier to ask foregiveness, than permission."
    Maybe david gruen was the first neo-con,- or at least the neo-cons' founding father?

    I have read there were many Jews in the region since Roman times-- and there were hundreds in Middle Ages on-- I wonder too about the idea how he define Islamic secularism-- try and be another religion in many many Islamic nations, Pappe: even Indonesia.... I think he should move to Iran--Yemen? Pakistan-- etc.

    I only heard 12 min' and already see that Mr Pappe has forgotten to mention the third and probably most important reason for Jews to choose Palestine.
    here are the first two he did mentioned:
    1. A growing anti Jewish hate and programs in Europe
    2. A wish for reinvention and nationalism
    Now why Mr Pappe has forgotten the Jewish part here? that every Jew pray every day for the return to Zion, to Jerusalem.
    Any idea why he would not mention this? as if he is not aware of this force in the Jewish daily prayers?

    • @TheChutzpahGirl
      @TheChutzpahGirl 9 лет назад +8

      Nevo Yatom Most Jews are atheists, and those that do pray do not believe in a military conquest of Zion.
      Israel is finished.

    • @Nevo1568
      @Nevo1568 9 лет назад

      Palestine Today wrong wrong and wrong. Atheist jews are no less Jewish then the religious ones. Ask any israeli if they are jewish. There are plenty of religious jews who serve in the army so you don't know the facts and no it is not an army of conquest but defence. Finished or not you and so many others are under the influance of the powerful drug of propaganda

    • @TheChutzpahGirl
      @TheChutzpahGirl 9 лет назад +7

      Nevo Yatom You have no right to claim a right to a country on the basis of a religious belief, if you do not believe, as is the case with most Jews living in Israel. As non-believing Jews, you have a moral responsibility to respect the title deeds held by the Arabs of Palestine, who really did purchase the land you folks are living on, whilst you use military force to prevent the Arabs from returning to their land and homes.

    • @Nevo1568
      @Nevo1568 9 лет назад +1

      Palestine Today your 'knowlage' come from propaganda and you believe it blindly. In reality Jews bought most the land which was waste land and transformed it. The rest Arabs lost with every war they started. Get the facts right.

    • @TheChutzpahGirl
      @TheChutzpahGirl 9 лет назад +5

      Nevo Yatom Israel was founded on propaganda, and can only stay afloat whilst the propaganda of Jewish vulnerability remains. Those days are at a close.
      *There will be ONE State with equality for all, compensation for stolen land, and the return of ALL Arab refugees.*

    There already are 2 states, Muslim & Jew. The Palestinian Mandate was divided between Palestinian Muslims & Jews: Jordan got bigger part, Israel got the smaller part. Now go convince Pakistan to give half of Pakistan to India. Palestinians occupy a large part of ancient Israel (Reuben, Gad, & 1/2 Manasseh). One state wud mean Israel annexed Jordan.

    • @abokareem7586
      @abokareem7586 3 года назад +6

      Jordan is Jordan and Palestine is Palestine , two different Lands. why should we divide the Land with those who (most of them) came for just 3 years ago? The history of Palestine and Palestinians and people who lived in this Land and civilizations which passed here is much much much bigger than the history of Jews. Why do you want to start history of Palestine from the point "ancient Israel" which failed archaeologically, i want to start history of Palestine 1000 year earlier than your starting point, do you mind?
