Yes that's a fair guess.Or it could be some kind om exogami, which was common in the past, where his mother comes from southern Scandinavia, and travel far to marry his father. I wonder if its possible to get his mtDNA?

Visigoths are said to have been a very complex coalition of various Germanic groups already when in the Balcans but I'll grant you that I also thought of Suebi or even Burgundians (neither of which should be "Southern Scandinavian" anyhow, should they?)

I'm a Spaniard from the East Coast, my paternal Haplogroup is I-Z60, really interesting DNA results i got.

According to FamilytreeDNA my ancestor lineage traces back to a man from the area of Northern Germany or Denmark during BRONCE AGE SCANDINAVIA 2000 BC approx. , I guess the I-z63 and the others all trace to a similar.
I don't know when my ancestor came or under what circumstances as my results show that even thou im 45 % Iberian, specially East Iberian im also French, Irish, Balcànic, Sardinian. in huge chunks ... One thing i learn is that im genetically more similar to all Iberians in all coastal regions of Spain way more than the hinterlands.
By the fact of being on the coast you can access better the peninsula which is geographically difficult to cross depending on the level o f development.

@@MrI1-M253 I'm saving to get that one next.
You see, 6 years ago I did the MyHeritage & 23andMe tests (before the whole stuff about obfuscating data to people of Western descend; the google woman or something... 1rst results were very similar to what MyHeritage showed me. 5 or 6 ethnic groups from Northern, Central, Eastern and Southern Europe... BUT a few years later they "improved" the results and suddenly I was just Iberian and Italian... ¿?
Which was odd, but, Hey I get that this is not an absolute thing and it evolves as we learn... AND at the beginning they allowed to see both results and compare and made excuses etc... BUT NOW finally they only allow the "latest's improved " results. And now this whole thing comes up about Google... whatever, its sad that people is so afraid and ashamed of their legacy because of idealism.
Whatever the case, I learned that you could download the raw Autosomal Data from 23andMe and can bring it to MyHeritage and other companies, to complement the results, so I did that, and then MyHeritage results became even more "Western European as a Whole ".
Then I researched FamilyTreeDNA and i opened a free account, uploading the data from MyHeritage/ 23andME for free they already can tell you stuff.
That's how I learnt more about OUR haplogroup and how it ended up in me :D
Back then I already thought of doing the FamilyTreeDNA general test to see how similar were the results to the other companies, NOW im very interested in investing in the big one if i can afford it soon. :D
      Thanks for the comments.

@@AndrwsAnimatics Yeah I definitely recommend Big Y if you want to have a better idea whether your I-Z60 branch is Visigoth, Vandal, Suebi, Viking etc.

My father, who, like me, is positive for I1, obviously, has 20% Germanic and 15% Balkan autosomal DNA, which is only justified by Visigothic heritage, I imagine, since my paternal grandfather is from the border between Portugal and Spain. There was no modern immigration from the Balkans to Portugal/Spain, but on the other hand, it is known that the Goths remained in that region for a few centuries, between leaving Scandza and entering Iberia. And that the Suevi founded the kingdom of Portugal after 409 AD. He also has 42% DNA from northern Italy, which also had Visigoth influence. And he also has no direct Italian ancestors that we know of. My mother has it.
