The software that they're being displayed in is Sonic Visualizer. Both are freeware!

if it was linear the frequencies would all appear bunched up close to each other, as the brain perceives pitch in a logarithmic way. one octave higher is a doubling of frequency, so the 12 notes in an octave occupy increasingly large frequency ranges as you go higher
