There's a cool story that happened right before Strive came out. The old Guilty Gear got a netcode update, and a lot of players came back to it. One of them, a very strong Chipp player that never made too much noise for himself before, took the ID "Joe Biden" and started just dominating a lot of tournaments. Nobody knows much about the guy, the only social he gives is straight up @POTUS. Someone pretending to be the President of the United States, playing the character that wanted to become President of the United State, and being really fucking good at it, is just really funny.
I really like how the lyrics in some songs fit both the character's backstory and gameplay, like Potemkin's speaks about "your society" like he is different from everyone else and he actually is, as the sole grappler with the inability to do such extended combos and air dash like everyone else, or Ky's theme "that's right go forth don't look back" fitting his dash in gameplan.

As a new GG player and trying out Chipp for the first time he's really the first character in a fighting game that really FEELS like a ninja so to speak. He's fast, deadly, not a ton of health but still decent, and hes just about screwing with your opponent. That along with the fact he has insanely fast moves and is super high pressure just makes him so much more fun to play than lets say Scorpion or Sub-Zero from Mortal Kombat where all they do is punch and use their specific elementals GG in general has a lot of flair to it and its just a treat to look at really. GG in general has a lot more to it in terms of the wacko stuff you can pull of with its systems and I'm having a blast with it. Strive is my first foray into the franchise and I just love how over the top every character is, its really a game thats like "nothing can be broken if everything is" and Chipp is a big part of that in that hes just stupidly fast and puts immense pressure on having a command grab and the ability to get across the screen nearly instantly, just not typical things you see with a character like this in other fighting games, I know this is a big blurb but really its so nice to play a game where there isnt one dominating character or theres only a single playstyle that works Strive just allows you to play any character you want and you have to be hard pressed into playing your game and not the opponents.
I still find it very funny that in a game full characters of different nationalities, including multiple americans, Chipp is one the few with an accent.

Easily the most understandable guilty gear theme.
my head cannon is that chipp got addicted to the same type of time drug from katana zero and thats why hes so fast. In katana zero the drug lets him think into the future and slow down time, maybe when he got off he couldn't read the future anymore but he could still move fast. i also dont know that much of guilty gear lore, i just thought it was a cool idea
