A record store here in Minneapolis, Treehouse Records (which sadly no longer exists) had a SEALED copy of one of the original pressing copies of this album. They had it listed on Discogs for $10k for awhile but no one ever bought it. I don't know what ended up happening to it. I love this album so much.
Tbh listening to the album felt at first disturbing with how dissonant it sounded but as I kept it playing while multitasking it was oddly… calming? In the most unsettling way? I definitely am not pining for a relisten but it’s certainly something I can say I really have never fucking heard anything like before lmao

I never thought about this album as terrifying, but I get what you mean. I think Renaldo & The Loaf's Songs For Swinging Larvea always did something similar to me. You feel like they're having so much fun, but through these clownish melodies and sound effects they make some terrifying and obscure ambiences. And the fact that its mixed between funny / eerie makes your brain freak out a little bit. Maybe you're familiar with it as you made a video about The Residents, but if not I really recommand it, its way more fascinating that The Shaggs. Loved the video anyway, keep on the good work ♥

Mayhems original vocalist isn't Dead. Dead is actually the 3rd vocalist, not including how the bassist and guitarist both did vocals during some demos
