Ornella Vanoni & the italian Jazz Stars, "Mi sono innamorato di te" live @JazzAscona, June 25th 2013

The JazzAscona Festival presents, on Tuesday 25th of June, a legendary Italian artist: joined by a formation of great jazz musicians. Ornella Vanoni will be one of the guests of the festival, surely one of the most impressive interprets, one of the most important leaders of the Italian music scene. With over fifty years of career during which she performed at high standards in various music genres, from easy listening to jazz and bossa nova, always amongst the most known thanks to an interpretative style and a recognizable tone.
Ornella Vanoni got to fame at the end of the 50's with "Canzoni della mala", original productions created for her especially by Giorgio Strehler, director of the Piccolo Teatro of Milan. The encounter with the sing-songwriter Gino Pauli in 1960 allows her to further connect to original song writing and is the beginning of a long lasting personal and artistic collaboration between the two, finalized by songs, records and memorable concerts.
During the 70's and 80's Mrs Vanoni is a confirmed and very popular singer. Intelligent and sophisticated, she experiments and explores new sounds: first bossa nova and Vinicius de Moraes and Toquinho's Brazil and later jazz with the album "Ornella &..." recorded in 1986 in the US with George Benson, Herbie Hankock, Steve Gadd, the Evans, Michael Brecker, Ron Carter. As from the 90's a fructuous collaboration with the producer Mario Lavezzi, distinguishes the work up to today, with concerts, successes and quality albums such as "Argilla", recorder in 1997 with Paolo Fresu or the most recent "Live al Blue Note" released in 2010.
Ornella Vanoni will interpret some jazz and boss nova tracks as well as hits of her own repertoire and covers. Joining her on stage in this occasion the Italian Jazz Star Reunion: Flavio Boltro on trumpet, Max Ionata on sax, Dado Moroni on piano, Rosario Bonaccorso on bass and Roberto Gatto on drums: all musicians with a prestigious career and international collaborations which vary from Wynton Marsalis to Elvin Jones, from Michael Breker to Pat Metheny. Furthermost, not just virtuosos of their chosen instruments, they all are leaders of their own jazz bands and perform at the major festivals in Europe, America and Japan.
