    You guys just saved me $300 with this video. I'm going to order a set and install them myself. Thank you!

    Great video, thanks. I recommend re-tightening the bolts on the rails, front-to-back again after you tighten the first time, as you will be able to tighten them an extra half-turn the second time through.

    Thanks for the video. I ordered the exact rails and cross bars. Just an fyi, when I was installing the sidebars i notice the back didnt align so I had to loosen up the screws and start from the back!! Thanks for the video! It saved a bunch of headaches

    Thanks for sharing. Just installed the racks this morning. Same ones from you link. Super easy install. The side mount bolts were a bit hard to tighten if you don’t have a ball type Allen wrench. Very happy!

    Thank you so much for this video. I bought the same roof rails and cross bar off amazon and your video instilled me with much more confidence than the directions did.

    I’m pretty sure I purchased the same rails/racks. The back rail was a bit more then just difficult. It was very difficult. I actually had to modify the gasket a bit because it wouldn’t slide past the mounting holes. But after that and some banging back and forth with a rubber mallet I finally get it to fit. Tight is and understatement.

    Why not tighten side rails after you get cross rails in . Seems like it would make it easier to get cross rails on.

    Thanks for this video. You were wise to their away those instructions. They were worthless. My big was missing the hardware for all the bars, so I needed to buy more. Also, their instructions didn't mention how to remove those plastic caps on the rails.

      How did you remove those plastic caps? I had one little screwdriver that somehow got one off but it won’t work for the others

    Hey! Love the install video, my roof rack comes in this week- any idea what size torx bit it is? I’d like to get a socket instead of struggling with the tool

    Would the process be the same for a 2021/2022 CX-5?

    How's that lift holding up?

  • @nathanielwagner867

    Just out of curiosity, what is the approximate distance between the cross bars? Is it about the same as the OEM roof rack?

    Thanks! At the 6:36 mark, there's a plastic piece at the bottom right of your video. What is that for? It's part of my package but not sure where it goes and the instructions don't mention it.

    • @chrischeung1895
      @chrischeung1895 9 месяцев назад

      Thanks. I finished it and it's great. Keep one side a little loose before you slide the rear bracket in. it's a tight fit.

    • @williewade1
      @williewade1 7 месяцев назад +1

      If you go to the 6:15 mark, you will see the end bracket underneath the top rail that has that piece inserted into it. It looks like a little rear diffuser. It is like a gasket that keeps that end from rubbing against the side rail when it is in place.

      @chrischeung1895 7 месяцев назад

      @@williewade1 sorry, I'm not seeing what you're seeing. But for that plastic piece, I didn't use it. It seemed like either some padding for the brackets during shipping. Or it's to be used to help guide the crossbar in.

    Too easy. Not only did you save me installation costs and headaches, you showed me an after-market rack... I hadn't been able to find one before. The $1100 CAD job became a $500 CAD job.

    Is there a slight gap in between the rail and the roof of the car even after securing tightly?

    • @williewade1
      @williewade1 7 месяцев назад

      Once you tighten those side rails down, there is absolutely no gap. I put the rails on my CX5 this morning. As easy as they make it look in this video, it is not. The screws that hold the rails down are not steel in the sense that you can use a magnet to hold them or pick them up if you drop them. The torx wrench will not fit securely enough into the the screw to hold it like he did here. The screw WILL fall off and you are left trying to fish it out, or take the rail off and shake it around so it can drop out. I took some double sided mounting clear molding tape and wrapped it around the end of a screw driver(the type with removable bits) with it extending slightly over the edge. I lightly pushed the back of the screw against the tape to hold it while I put it down into the screw hole. I used the torx wrench to put down in there to help hold the screw into place while I pulled the screwdriver out of the way. It took me about 45 minutes to do it because it is very tedious. I will put the cross bars on at a later date. The rails are absolutely gorgeous and good quality. I got the piano black ones like these in the video.

    Did you actually just try and torque those bolts up with an allen key by feel in an instruction video? that is super irresponsible!

    • @williewade1
      @williewade1 7 месяцев назад

      Really. You are a jerk. That is not a safety item. He did not use the instruction manual at all. This video saved me a ton of time of installing mine. I did not use a dam torque wrench either.
