The movie is full of things like that. During the lot owner's heart attack when he's laying on the floor, Kurt Russel has a handful of money and the owner grabs it out of his hand while he's dying on the floor.
Yes. He was also in a serious drama about the sniper at UT Austin of the mid 1960s in a criminal role. He has an extreme acting range from comedy to crime drama and even Disney films.
As a car guy, one of the things I appreciate about this move from 1980 is seeing the real mix of automobiles that were driving around on the streets. Mostly from the 1970's but still a lot of 1960's and even a few 1950's. And they're old, well-used cars. Not a "set in 1980" movie made today, where every car is beautifully clean and from the year the movie is set in.
Yes! This is genuine 80s. My dad tells me how the junkyards back in the 80s were just FULL of 50s cars! And it wasn't worth owning one since you had to buy and put some gas additive since these cars were made to run on leaded. Its actually really intriguing thinking about the cars of the era, to think that what is us today a 1998 Camry, it is a 1955 Bel Air to someone in 1980.
@@derkommissar4986 When The Dukes of Hazzard premiered in 1979 the producers chose the 1969 Dodge Charger for the General Lee knowing the car would be destroyed by jumping, so they wanted a cheap plentiful model. At the time a 10 year old Mopar was just a beater that got lousy gas mileage.
@MrJeffcoley1 that too! He tells me how he sold some Charger for $300 😂😂 ah my dad got tons of stories Yeah what to us is now gold, it was shit to them. Tell me why the Mustang II was popular back then, but now is looked down upon? Same issue 😅
@MrJeffcoley1 its interesting how a 1968 Charger was the front cover in the Bullitt movie. Is it just me, or did cars age faster back then? Thats another certainly interesting thing. A 2013 Civic in 2023 is way different than some 1969 Oldsmobile in 1979. I saw the movie Christine which was set in 1978 or something, and the evil car was from 1958. Only 20 years and it was considered a classic. But a 2003 Honda is just a beater/regular car 😂 its so fascinating, I tell you!
Just bought this Shout Factory Blu-Ray and it's excellent. One of my al time favorite movies. The director's commentary track, is almost as funny as the film itself.
Classic moment in my life watching this on HBO back in the 80s. Loved this scene, even want to use the fishing technique in a film project, if I can ever get it done. Very funny.
I burst out laughing at a car lot in the 90's. The salesman was exactly like Kurt. I was young and looking at a V8. When I walked off the lot he zeroed in on an old lady who had foolishly walked in. He was amazing in that he was able to completely change tactics and mannerisms to suit the old lady.
Kurt Russell's name in the film is Rudy Russo and there's a stretch of road where I live that has car lots and salespeople just like in this film. I refer to it as The Rudy Russo Memorial Express Way.
My first car was a 1972 Buick centurion. Bought it in 1989 for 300 bucks at 17 years old. Big buitifull car. Big Block 455.4, all 5 Rally Buick wheels, rockin Poineer stereo. It was loaded. Had that car for 12 years untill a drunk driver hit me. To bad that prick lived.
I've worked closely with these types in my business. This is not too far off. Make you feel like they're doing you a service, but could really not give 2 shots. And, they live the persona. Ive had to tell them....cut the act, im not a customer.
As a car salesman, I can say, you do sometimes have to catch yourself when you start speaking too fast; it's not a good look and it has to be dialed back.
But at the end of the day it's a Buick Centurion convertible!!! Try finding one of those these days. Besides that, the guy was originally looking at a Vega across the street!
I love how he starts to hand him the $10 and then transitions into a handshake without giving it to him.
I never noticed that!!!
He does it SO fast like a magic trick!!! 🤣

That’s how it’s done.😂
Good catch!
I like the big dent his head made in the door.
I don't think Kurt Russell gets enough praise for his acting talent as he deserves.
He’s always been so awesome...👍
He really does have a wide range , certainly not pigeon holed into just one character.

Legendary man
Nothing but a pretty boy
As much as people respect him as a dramatic and action movie star, Kurt Russell’s performance captures the essence of a used car salesman.

It helps that it takes place in a desert

Love how he already put a huge dent in the door when he hit it
Rudy Pulanski, Rudy O'Brien, Rudy Garcia, and Rudy Washington Carver! LOL!
Just bought this Shout Factory Blu-Ray and it's excellent. One of my al time favorite movies. The director's commentary track, is almost as funny as the film itself.
“Great shoes, LOVE em’...”😂
This is a great movie!!! ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!!

If not the funniest movie ever made, it's damn close.
you think you hate it now ; but wait until you drive it...😅😂🤣...Eugene Levy
Love this movie.
I think Kurt did this whole sign in one breath. 😂😂
I can see why tarentino likes him. Hes perfect for tarentinos style of dialog and characters

Great documentary on some of the qualities necessary to run for Congress.
This morning this man Royal Fuchs this man doesn't lie
Roy L Fuchs!
10 bucks never killed anybody.
Russell seems to be channeling Jay Leno for this scene lol

Coffee is for closers.

Hilarious movie!!!
A really fun movie.
Jesus that whole scene was ADR’d. Must’ve been a windy day
One of the funniest movies...EVER.
A young Kurt Russell 😊
I agree where I can ..my compliments .. praise first
Hey that's the "disguise" Kurt Russel wears to the brothel in "Big Trouble in Little China"!
0:20 I got the same Fishing Rod at home.
When he drives off the lot the rear bumper falls off..
Custom feature that, reduces drag and tire wear. He could have charged him extra for it, but he didn't, that's the kinda guy he is!
Had no idea Kurt Russell could talk that fast. 😂 Just like a real car salesman lol
So we write it up😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

He sounds like Jon Gruden.
Leo DCaprio in Wolf of Wall Street acts just like Kurt Russell in this film. Leo owes Kurt a used Buick. 😆
The speed of his delivery of pure BS is amazing, wonder if it was written or ad lib?
Don't worry about Royal Fuchs I'm Rudy Polanski😂😂
Roy L Fuchs!
I wonder where you can get this on Blu-ray?
Thank you. People from sctv. I didnt know this was on dvd. Im watching with law enforcement.
I know it’s a different scene but…..Hi Friends! Marshall Lucky here! lol
He blows the living shit out of high prices!
Donde esta la película completa?
In the shops, on DVD! Or even eBay!

Still same way until now lol...
As a car salesman, I can say, you do sometimes have to catch yourself when you start speaking too fast; it's not a good look and it has to be dialed back.
Ok. That Buick has a CR of 4.9 and is way over MMR. Just saying.
😂😂
Is that captain Ron?
Filmed in 1979 in Mesa, AZ outside of my hometown of Phoenix. Got to see some shoots but not this scene.
I'm going to make it easy on you staying you can't afford not to buy a car like this😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Suban la al RUclips por fabor
Buy the DVD for a few pounds/dollars/pesos etc
Gas savings lol....12mpg
When it was new. Likely under 10 in that condition.
But at the end of the day it's a Buick Centurion convertible!!! Try finding one of those these days. Besides that, the guy was originally looking at a Vega across the street!
As much as i wanna watch this film, the year of its release surprises me, as one of my favorite voice actresses was born the same year.

Kurt Russell will always be an American legend of acting. a great looking guy that looks like he’s probably a real cool dude to have a beer with.
