Gloria Estefan was born Gloria Fajardo on September 1, 1957 in Havana, Cuba. As a toddler Estefan fled Cuba with her family to the United States when Communist dictator Fidel Castro rose to power. In 1975 she met keyboardist Emilio Estefan, who led a band called the Miami Latin Boys. Estefan became the lead singer and the band was renamed the Miami Sound Machine, before going on to score several Top 10 hits in the 1980s and 1990s. She married Emilio Estefan in September of 1978. They have a son and daughter. Estefan is one of the most successful crossover artists in Latin music history. She is a seven-time Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter, actress and author of two New York Times best-selling children’s books. She has sold more than 100 million records worldwide and achieved 38 #1 hits across the Billboard charts. In 1997 she founded the Gloria Estefan Foundation, which promotes education, health and cultural development. Both Gloria and Emilio worked on the autobiographical musical about their lives called “On Your Feet!” that debuted on Broadway in 2015. That same year they were both honored for their trailblazing contributions to music and Latin American culture with the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

I love this woman for 35 years, her music but also her spirit. I know now where it comes from. Kisses from France.
she worked at my local brothel in the 70s. She was very popular and used to do 2 for 1 specials which got her in trouble with the other girls. They tried to get her fired but the bosses wouldn't hear it
Excellent interview! Gloria will always be a positive influence for me. Her music, courage and values have encouraged me and many others throughout her career. I have had the pleasure and honor meeting her and I will always remember her kindness in taking the time to talk with me. Our Conga Queen forever. ♥️♥️♥️♥️ Thank you for this beautiful interview 👏🏽🙌🏽🥰♥️
Gorgeous interview
Gloria is a treasure--amazing woman and artist!
It seems like she's just vanished from the music scene over the years. I wish her outstanding musical legacy was better preserved - a tour every now and then, remasters of her earlier works... We miss you, Gloria.
Her last album is from 2022. Just because the media is no longer paying attention doesn’t mean she has disappeared.
@@miss.wendy.v I guess that's how she wants it to be. I still feel that for a woman who's been so influential, very little is done to honor her legacy.
I love your music and you are a representation of our people. My family is from Central America. You are a hard working woman
Is it possible to meet you with my mother? We go once a year to Florida in 1st week of May. She's 80 and health issues. In this interview, remind me of my mom. My mom is fantastic also
My 3 sons are in military. They just left for Poland. I'm a grandmother. Don't like to put this info but would like my mom to meet you...and of course me!!!!
I hope u get these messagesl I watched Shirley Temple too. Got Bachelors, Master, and PhD. Raised 4 kids with my family's help
Thank you for this great interview. Gloria is not only a great artist but also a wonderful person, that was very interesting. For years she was my number one favorite singer, that's no longer the case but she's still my number two.❤
This is such a beautiful interview, a chance to know her a little more intimately. I used to see her and the Miami Sound Machine at open houses early on.
Her life story could be awesome for a tv serie for sure.❤
Gloria, You are amazing for telling your story! Thank you for sharing ..
Still beautiful
Gloria Estefan as a fellow Cuban Gloria I just saw this while our adopted country USA, is going through unbelievable ‘heck’. I tell your story often. We met at a pre Oscars Party years ago. So proud of you. I speak often about your father often and Agent Orange to people when they ask, Cuba is fabulous. Just knock me over my head. I’m sure perhaps you’ll never read this but it’s ok because our story is the same. Last night I cried over the Grammy win and tonight crying over our story. You explained it so eloquently. You and I grew up in Miami at the same time. I have to have another good cry tonight. But I’m so proud of what you and Emilio have accomplished. ❤
Uno de los más grandes exponentes de la cultura cubana en el mundo entero. Gracias por ser inspiración. !! Saludos desde Argentina.
Wow! You can make a movie !! Es impresionante la vida de esta mujer!!!
Ahh 🤩🥰😘😘
❤❤❤🥺🥺🥺
Strange how that piece of paper ‘coming out of the dark’ was still in Emilio Estefan’s pocket 3 months later.
