Awesome! I was trying to see what the spec of the new shadow was versus the Hyperlite 2. Just managed to pick up a HL2. Glad I didn't get a shadow.
    So (retail) stiffness:
    HL & HL 2
    Mach
    Ultrasonic
    Shadow?
I thought HL were 'lighter', and softer than the 'heavier' Machs?
love your show/testing. Someone from a manufacturer NEEDS to hire you. There is no-one doing this - maybe inside the manufacturers. Also, you should set up you're part time business as a consulting firm, and do reports. See what Sandy Munro does for cars (his is more assembly/costs/engineering), but you SERIOUSLY know your stuff and have years of experience. Great work, thanks.

Ps, i'll send some $ your way once my funds are flowing. Thanks for everything.

So, according to Bauer the stiffness profiles goes like this from softest to stiffest - Hyperlite 2, 2X Pro, Shadow (Ultrasonic used to be here but mine felt stiffer than Shadow), Mach, X-Stiff.
Thanks for the kind words! I unfortunately don't have the engineering background and ability to test things at a point I'd be comfortable doing that! I also make it a point to never take money from companies! But I do love showing these tests off and hopeful I can get access to more gear to test in the future :)

Great, thanks, kid might not like these HL's then, might need to find some low use Mach's.
I meant as a 'marketer advisor' (similar but different than what Munroe does for engineering, you do for product market advice). Manufacturers buy his reports to save themselves time doing it themselves. Think about what a HR in depth report would look like. Maybe the big guys would buy it, if it saved them some time and effort and got em some good info.

Hi Matt, 12:40, I noticed that right away. Did you use your standard toe ties on the shadow ? I was wondering if the fact that you put a lace loop + bungees is a contributing factor to yor hyperlite 2 boot moving. Nobody does that anymore, but i feel like a standard laces with one knot length would probably help keeping the pad and the boots from moving a tad.

I used stock toe ties on the Shadow, so they are the bungee ones that they come with.
All of the thigh rise tests I have done you can see the boot moving when it is impacted, I feel like it is just exaggerated more in the Hyp2 here because they are so much stiffer.
