Nobody has commented in a year?? Come on people...that's fricking outstanding... Now watch a video of how hard Mr. Case and the Plimsouls rocked this song in the 80s....;-)
Time and tide have turned both myself and Peter into people who look less like young James Spaders and more like random hairy beardy old guys with guitars, but when he started singing it took me right back to the first show I ever saw in LA: The Plimsouls at some club I was too young to get into, but the people I was with knew the guy at the door and he let me in if I promised to stay away from the bar, stand by the alley door, and run like hell if the cops showed up. The rush I got from watching the band was better than anything I could have ingested anyway... the band was tight and polished, every note precise, and Peter - who was clearly working for a living, not simply standing about on stages strumming guitars - was sweating so much by the end of the set that every time he flicked the hair out of his eyes the people in front ducked. In the... shit, 35ish years since then, I've been to many concerts with $50 tickets and shitty venues and I always mentally compare them to the perfection of that night in LA. Something about being young, I guess, and unexpectedly running into something so unexpectedly beautiful. Glad to hear he's still got 'it'.
Nexio, you are a talented writer. I grew up in their collective hometown, Paramount, California. My brother was tight friends with the Plimsouls. I became a club owner, including a club that booked Nirvana's last club date prior to only doin stadium concerts. I saw them live in a Hollywood club. Thank you for transporting me back to memories of their day and my youth. When their left-handed bass player David Pahoa subsequently was playing for Rod Stewart, he told the sold out crowd "See you at the Pink Cadillac" A kind shoutout. Unneeded. I was the then hottest club in Hawaii. Be that as it may, you write well and transported me to the energy of a club featuring the best bands in the world. And the spirit I share with you of not being denied the opportunity to experience what later become lifetime memories.
The Plimsouls could have gone further if Peter Case hadn't had a breakdown and disappeared to travel like a homeless man for a year. I used to go see them all the time in the early 80's at local venues like The Barn at Alpine Village. The Zero Hour always got us crazy on the dance floor at The Barn. Almost got kicked out of the Golden Bear for dancing because it was a sit-down kind of place.
The year was 1981 I remember a friend coming up to me my senior year of high school and saying that he won tickets from KROQ to see the Plimsouls and the Romantics live at the Whiskey a Go Go in Hollywood. Boy was that an experience I'll never forget watching the band from a balcony table above the stage, drinking soft drinks because we were too young to drink and tripping out on the audience getting into the music. Those were the days!
Born in SE England and living in western Canada I spent some extended periods in Eagle Rock, Whittier and Long Beach California when KROQ... "ROCK of the EIGHTIES!!! " was playing all of this type music. Sound track to Valley girls etc. Warm fuzzy feels from that time in life.
looks nothing like the 28 year old I saw back then but can tell it is him GREAT job Peter.., LOVE this song and the other plimsoul songs. Always a fan.
The Plimsouls were truly a legendary L.A. band....Sadly the Albums they made never quite captured the magic of their live performances...I saw them the first time performing at Cerritos college and was blown away...later I saw them at the music machine on Pico Blvd and The Palace on Vine in Hollywood...T he last time I saw them was when they opened for Elvis Costello at The Universal Amphitheatre....As one commentor said, peter case looks a lot different (LOL)....but he wrote some of the best power pop songs...Million Miles, Now, Zero Hour, telephone,...all classics....Long live Peter Case and The Plimsouls!!!
One of my fav movies ever valley girl x obsessed with L.A ever since :) hey peter we my band doing a tribute valley girl soundtrack gig in sudney soon ❤️ love if you could be a promoter and get it to la :)
What is worse is not hearing it play a classic power pop song by its legendary singer-songwriter. On whatever. Shoutout to all that are involved in preserving this iconic performance.
Every songwriter wishes he/she could write just one song this great in their lifetimes…👏👏👏
Absolutely.
Well said.
Ain't that the pure truth.

We all unfortunately HAVE TO face the reality and fact this was 35 YEARS AGO! Keep Rocking
Peter Case...
Nexio Septimus well said those were great days indeed.

Dream About You is my fav Peter Case song, a great voice and writer. He's still got 'it' indeed. Hope he gets his due now.
@@joecamacho2708 good stuff
Thnx for sharing
Easily the most underrated band of all time. The 80s was the greatest era to grow up.
Easily one of the most underrated songwriters of all time!
@@madzen112 An American great - his solo body of work is jaw-dropping.

Thank you so much for this tune, Peter. It is Always on my list!!!
One of the songs that define the 80s. Still sounds great - incredible with just a single guitar.
That 12 string sounds like a harbinger of doom, and I am absolutely here for it!
Still sounds good. I was born in 90. My dad was really big into The Plimsouls. Thankful for him getting me into them after all these years.
Your dad taught you well. :)
Such a beautiful song. Brings back high school memories and of course Valley Girl.
Fred!!!😂
Thank you for making my childhood awesome!!
Truly for me one of LA"s iconic songs.

Reminds me so much of 1980, summer on Sunset Blvd, the Whiskey and Starwood. It was a great time in music.
Starwood is long gone. The Whiskey and the Roxy are still going strong. The Rainbow is still hopping, as well.
What an amazing talented artist. Bravo Peter!
Great version. What a great song
He still sounds great! 💜
Love it one of the best bands of the 80’s!
looks nothing like the 28 year old I saw back then but can tell it is him GREAT job Peter.., LOVE this song and the other plimsoul songs. Always a fan.
Best Power Pop recording of all time, especially the 12” single version.
A masterpiece! one of the best songs ever
He’s still got it. 👍
Best power pop song ever!

Easily one of my favorite all time songs. I play it all the time ❤️😊❤️😊❤️😞
Beautiful and reminiscent.
Amazing as always!
YYYEEESSSSSSSS!!! 🎉🙌🫶 Not a single bad track on this EPIC album!!!
Awesome!!!
Amazing song. Amazing composer.
Opened for you in 81 or so at Pacifica High School..million miles was obviously awesome, but Zero Hour was a great song as well.
💯
One of my top 25 albums....just saying.
Awesome..... Great place to buy records and CDs btw...
Peter. Otis Gibbs mentioned you. I'm hear as a result. You have a new fan.
god fucking damn this is brilliant!

My All Time Favorite Song from my All Time Favorite Album. Thanks for posting.
Great song man!
Sweet baby Jesus
Awesome
Going to see him on 10/20/17, stoked! Thanks Drew and Mike Podcast for the heads-up!
Super duper talented.
looks like a shop. VERY GOOD!!!!
I remember when they played at Magic Mountain. Great song/band.

❤️😍❤️
is he doing this half step down? Regardless....incredible version. Very soulful.....!!
Yes. Peter is tuned down a half step. Paul Westerberg does the same thing when he plays live.
That 12 string is turned way down! Too lazy to check. But it could be the B or C below E.
Someone should contact VH1 "Band reunion" and get the Plimsouls back together for a one night show!
that show hasn't been on in like 18 years....
Oh man his 12 string is out of tune. Still he sounds a million times better than me!
Sadly I agree with you it's really out of tune, but his art and soul are in totally.
Is he a drinker????
That 12 string is butchering it!
Green Day version just plain awful!
One of the greatest rock and roll songs of all time.
Nothing worse than an out of tune 12 string.
...and he should have got a Guild F512!!...
What was the amount of your largest check from Electra?
@@mainsblanches8793 Taylors are usually pretty stable when tuned -- this one just needed some cross tuning to touch it up.
LOL

i Knew David O i am from Paramount. are you from Paramount Peter ?
