    No one every addresses how strange it is that the old kids and new kids had no relationship. That's always a bad sign. You could say that's because the old kids were too dysfunctional and wild to be around the new kids but then we get back to the question of, how did all four boys get so messed up? Lots of questions.

      There is a good explanation to this - the first Crosby family had indeed many problems which the 2nd family didn't have, but it was not due to the alleged abuse (which did not take place). Bing was afraid of the bad influence his older sons could have on his younger kids and that's why he tried to keep them apart. That doesn't mean though they weren't in contact at all. The three younger kids had a lot of contact with the children of Bing's older four boys - they were their age. Consider the generation gap. All this and and the whole context is thoroughly discussed in the main video:

    It is so easy to think the worst about people we have never met. Most people, including family members, are only after resources of one kind or another from successful men.
    Negative speculation and gossip is a path with the least resistance to a bored and lazy mind, this was true even in the past. We are lucky with Bing, in that his life was much researched by assiduous authors such as Gary Giddins, in his books 'Pocketful of Dreams' and Call me Lucky'.
    From Mr giddins detailed and entertaining books we can get a feel for the life and times of Bing Crosby. They were different times, and people were more inclined to be serious and respectful towards each other.
    We are lucky that Bing Crosby became an entertainer, and should simply be grateful for the day he stopped a' lawyering and started a' singing. This is a great channel for all things Bing. Thank you E.P..

    Did Bob Crosby ever offer his opinion on Gary's book?

    • @ep8324
      @ep8324  Год назад +3

      He did, privately and publicly in a documentary called "Bing: The Truth Behind the Legend", where he also criticized Gary for making up stories. Unfortunately, at the moment, I personally don't have access to that documentary, so I couldn't use it as a source. I hope I'll get my hands on it someday.

      Somebody who seemingly picks up Bing's apparent coldness via the screen appearances, forgets that Bing's personal image reflected warmth, easy going goodness for millions of fans😂during a fifty year career.

    Nobody in this interview were in that house after the doors shut. The younger kids knew Bing when he was 60. Also the pbs documentary they play a tape where Bing is dictating a letter where he calls Gary fat and lazy. I come from an abussive family just because in public he seems like a nice guy that doesn't mean he is not an abuser at home

    • @ep8324

      Apparently you’ve missed Gary's own admission to lying about abuse. Also, have you really heard the entire tape? He neither calls Gary fat nor lazy. He lets him know that he wants him to work on his diet and sports to avoid becoming fat and unhealthy.

      About the tape message from Bing to Gary - your memory has blended out the exact wording and it seems you've only heard the cut part of the tape. Bing says he wants to "prevent" Gary from becoming fat because Bing himself had gone through weight problems which had been a burden for him for years. He was clearly attempting to prevent Gary going down the same path as him. Also, I hope the following information will make you at least a bit more critical of Gary's stories:
      The abuse claims stem from Bing's oldest son Gary Crosby's and co-writer Ross Firestone's book "Going My Own Way", published in 1983, 5½ years after Bing’s death and 5 years after the first big negative "tell all" book about a Hollywood parent. Gary's book contains some over-the-top-stories of regular heavy corporal punishment and psychological terror.
      Fact is, while nobody denies that corporal punishment took place if a Crosby child did something bad (executed by Dixie, Bing, or a nanny; as expected in 1930s & '40s society from a good parent), all of Gary's immediate siblings and half siblings denied the abuse claims. Objective research has shown that the book is filled with inaccuracies and contradictions, but also that except for a bunch of passages, the book is just Gary's direct self-critique for "leading a war" against his father for no reason.
      While Phil, Mary, Harry and Nathaniel were always very direct and clear about the matter, Lindsay and Dennis were rather vague about it to the press, but they also denied the alleged heavy violence. Some people make Bing responsible for Denny's and Linny's tragic suicides after financial losses and a difficult divorce over a decade after Bing's passing, thus ignoring their real struggles. The only "primary source" with the abuse allegations is Gary Crosby. [!!!!!!]
      Unfortuanately, all this can quickly fall into a silly discussion of who said what and who did what to whom. The most revealing proof of Gary not being a trustworthy source are his own words:
      a) a conclusory statement in "Going My Own Way" [see comment beneath]
      b) what Gary used to say BEFORE writing his book [see comment beneath]
      c) his easily debunked lies about his inheritance (in his book & on the Joan Rivers Show) [see comment beneath]
      d) various reports of Gary conceding the untruths [you've already seen a part of it]

      Please, to understand the comment above, take into account the visual material (videos, documents, numbers) in the various slides which my above comment refers to:
      instagram.com/p/CpLAytTo7nr/?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==
      It is easier to give you this link for it. If you want, I can send you the sources.
      This is not to convince you about anything, but for you to maybe consider the possibility that Gary may be the one who has thrown himself into a net of lies and contradictions. Would you trust a man who loudly and repeatedly lies about his inheritance when there actually are documents to show what large sums he really received?

    Look up the Video on Denise Crosby it speaks volumes. She said she never met Bing. That's a little weird I would have at least given Him a chance.

    • @ep8324
      @ep8324  Год назад +7

      Do you even know why she didn't meet him? Of course, she didn't tell about it. She was Bing's son Dennis's daughter. She was born as an illegitimate child with a woman Dennis was only briefly acquainted with. Dennis, her own father, didn't have anything to do with the child after she was born. The mother filed for a paternity suit only days after Dennis married another woman. Denise was already a couple of years old. It was a terribly embarrassing procedure for Dennis, her father, who hadn't even seen her before, as well as for Bing, embarrassed for his son, especially as the devout Catholic that he was. It was recognized that Dennis was the father, and he had to pay money to the mother, but beyond that, he didn't have anything to do with his daughter. Of course, how do you expect her to ever meet Bing if she practically didn't have anything to do with her biological father, the link to Bing?! Otherwise, Bing had close relationships and regular contact with all of his grandchildren.

    You clearly are trying to justify an abuser.
    As a child of abuse, parents can put on an air of love, yet knowing say things that destroy your mental and emotional health.
    But hey, plus on taking things out context to fit your narrative.

    • @ep8324
      @ep8324  8 месяцев назад +3

      You have clearly not examined all of the material and neither have you looked into the main context video. The only source of the abuse claims itself has admitted to lying for money. I'm sorry about your own experience, but that doesn't make the (admitted) lies of one unrelated greedy, attention-seeking person true.
