On one hand speculation or a "blind reaction" can be an interesting display, but if they totally lack context it tends to boil down to monotone expressions and short expletives. I prefer more detail myself, though it should typically be couched in uncertainties from the speaker in case the information is inaccurate. For instance, the living toys are not all children, and they are NOT dead. What was done to them was worse. It's effectively primative 40K servitorization. Their vitsl organic bits are plucked out and transferred into a drug and preservative solution that effectively makes them unable to die, which is then used as the core of the toy cyborg. Said children are likely not fully unconscious, so... they vivisect the test subjects, possibly while they are still aware enough to witness everything and yet unable to move.

There should be some speculation from the characters, otherwise it boils down to a simple set of "oh, so thats what that looked like" reactions. Being informed is nice, but being told everything is just boring. Its the difference between someone telling you the very basics of a new game to get you interested in it, and someone telling you everything there is to know about the game before you even played it. Its boring. If you already know everything, then theres no need for a reaction. Part of why i love reactions is the fact that the characters make their own theories and vonclisions, and those may not always be correct. Thats why if you need the characters to know exactly what happened in the world they reacted to, you wait untill the reaction is over and they can share all their theories, and then tell them the truth, vonfirming some theories and disproving the other.
