    I have an older Lenovo Yoga 2 11 and I'm having the same problem. I am a Computer Tech but, I just don't feel like soldering the small button on the board. So, I just will get another used yoga 2 11.

    If you came here for clues on a more recent Yoga, specifically the X1 2nd and 3rd gen: They have a common fault with the power button as well, but on those, the flat-flex cable connecting the power-button-PCB to the main logic board is the culprit. Just replace that 1-2$ flat-flex and you should be good to go.

    My S1 Yoga switches on, but only the fan, it won't boot and the only way to turn it off, is to use a paper clip through the reset hole, but it doesn't actually reset anything. :(

    What is that tool that blows hot air that shows up at 5:21? I'd imagine its a less powerful blowtorch type thing but I have no idea what exactly.

      It's known as a Hot Air Station. Used for reflowing SMD components!

      @@Adamant_IT thank you! Now I can get what I need instead of trying to jury rig something that might damage the motherboard with too much heat!

    What temperature you have used to solder switch without melting plastic parts?

    • @carlosgarciaoropeza5480
      @carlosgarciaoropeza5480 Год назад

      @Blastboy: The maximum temperature for soldering smd LEDs in most applications should NOT exceed 260 degrees Celsius to prevent damage to the base (resin) where the luminous lens is mounted. You can use if surface space allows a piece of aluminum tape or Kapton type tape to cover the lens (protection). Previously using flux on the pads to be soldered will make the time less than 15 seconds if you use low melting point solder. A good practice is to start with 150 degrees Celsius and 40% airflow if there are no other components nearby (if any, protect all components mainly plastic connectors for flexible cables in the near area and reduce the flow to 20% and bring the smallest nozzle closer to 5 cm from the target).
      Of course using heat resistant gloves is good practice for micro-soldering novices (not necessarily the most expensive to start with, ie there are good cheap alternatives to them). All the best.

    Hi, that is the part number for digikey, etc for the switch as mine is missing entirely? Thank You!

      I don't have a part number, but the keywords you want are "side tactile button"

    I have two of these Lenovo, one died on me one day for no reason power but nothing on the screen another one still powers on but the speakers no longer work these symptoms in these models are pretty common. nobody gives me any hope to fix it some repair places they suggest to me that get new motherboards.

      I have the yoga 500 14isk, replaced the mainboard 3 times now - after about a year of use they switch on then straight off again, wont charge or run off mains. It will gladly run on battery tho. Common on lenovo's. From what I read on forums seemes to be something about the Nuvotron ICU - piece of garbage contoller chip thats the issue??
