- SCP 2399 is a Keter Class anomaly also known as A Malfunctioning Destroyer.
SCP-2399 is a massive, complex mechanical structure currently located in Jupiter's lower atmosphere. Since its visual discovery in 1963, SCP2399 has been observed to use highly advanced, anti-matter-based weaponry to create spacial disruptions observable as a large red vortex, commonly known as the Great Red Spot.

In the original files, doesn't it mention that the destroyer was ordered to go to planet earth, make some sort of stop and then continue on to its true target?Can you imagine how hilarious it would be if it arrived on Earth and just said hello and asked for help with something?
I don't know why but I just imagined the destroyer landing and playing the Mine Turtle "Hello!" Sound then leaving.

The second most scariest SCP to me. Knowing this SCP can’t be contained, can’t be destroyed, and is on Jupiter just watching us and waiting to complete its repairs in order to complete its mission to destroy earth.
Edit: Fun fact: In an alternate universe Dr.Bright neutralized SCP-2399 by launching Jupiters moon “IO” right on top of it.

Funny thing: the Broken God mentioned in that instance of SCP 001 is not actually Mekhane itself, but a rough imitation created by the Factory.
The REAL Mekhane, in some kind of incorporeal form, took control of the Malfunctioning Destroyer in order to erase this copy.

SCP 343 is supposedly god, he seemingly has infinite power, and this comment is poking fun how they should've just asked SCP 343 (God) for help. Sometimes he simply refuses yo dot hints despite his claim of his undying love for humanity.

I know I'm late to the party but there's always the distinct possibility that 343 is simply an incredibly powerful reality bender with delusions of being "the" god, creator of the universe, but yet still not actually him. At least within this particular series on this youtube channel, 343 occasionally slips up and acts out of character such as with his adamant refusal to do anything about The Hard to Destroy Reptile because "It's not one of mine" despite that only making it even more his responsibility to protect humanity from if he is indeed their creator, and also with his apparently incorrect diagnosis of The Pestilence as "free will", among other examples. While there could be explanations for these types of things it leaves the door wide open for him possibly not being who he says he is, even if he truly believes himself to be who he says he is.
Just remember, all of the dubious experiments and atrocities committed by the foundation in the pursuit of knowledge are all done in the vague hope of finding something that can stop SCPs like this one

I think that the drones would outnumber that SCP, but the satellites can be replaced with ones that have protective power channeling, which charges a Thorium- based nuclear battery, the overload of which can be prevented by a hydro- bomb launching railgun and the EMP cannon.

Believe it or not, Jupiter is one the reasons life on Earth has been possible: its size and orbit are curiously convenient at protecting Earth from comets and the like.
This has led many researchers to theorize that life on Earth has too many coincidences to be an accident, and that the entire solar system is somehow designed to allow life on Earth
Isn't there also another SCP protecting the earth. I forget which one it was. Something to do with the sun keeping us from beings eating the rest of the universe.

Regardless of Jupiter not having an actual solid surface ( that we know of ) this is still an amazing SCP story. There is life out in the deep dark and the only 2 types we would meet would be peaceful advanced life ( Not until we smarten tf up ) or the type that would want to cause us nothing but pain and death.. so this SCP is one that could be realistic and would be terrifying af if so.
Actually knowing the density of gas in jupiter it would actually feel solid after few hundred KM's of gas layers

If SCP-001-TwistedGears is to be believed, it seems SCP-2399 is somehow associated with the Broken God. When the Broken God, or whatever SCP-001-TwistedGears is, woke up, SCP-2399 tore a rift through space to bombard it and destroyed it. Of course, it is because of this registered event, and the supposed objective of SCP-2399, that I believe SCP-001-TwistedGears to be one of the events filed in SCP-001 to confuse us. Certainly if SCP-2399 had the power to rip through space-time it would have received instructions to begin bombarding the Earth, long before we were able to send up satellites to intercept those messages.
Of course, there can be another theory: That SCP-2399 is not here for Earth itself, but for the being we know as the Broken God, Mekhane. This would explain its sudden use of power to retaliate against Mekhane when he woke up. So then, what relation does SCP-2399 and its creators have with Mekhane, and do they have any association with Yaldabaoth?
It's explained that the broken god is broken for a reason and it must stay that way, SCP 2399 is a piece of the god and it makes sure it is never rebuilt otherwise yaldabaoth will awaken and destroy the universe
That scp 001 file was talking about a copy mekhane would never ever re-assemble himself his incorporeal form lived and took control of the destroyer and blew the copy to kingdom come

Assuming SCP-2399 has occupants and assuming SCP-096 can really go 'anywhere', even space, they should broadcast a photo of its face to the destroyer so 096 can super jump into space just to reach them.

Has there ever been a test with SCP -682 (hard to kill reptile) and SCP-242 (self-"cleaning" pool)? Since 242 appears to transmute any material submerged in it into clean, purified, ordinary drinking water, I doubt the big lizard could come up with an adaptation for that.
Maybe, but most likely will not work. 682 once “adapted” from being erased from our timeline and then Uno reversed the erase onto the knife that did it. If the lizard can come back from that I don’t think anything in the main timeline can kill it.

This is one of the first SCP I read a long time. Crazy read this one is.
I want their telescopes where they can see even remotely close to that detail on Jupiter in the 1600's.
Just in case anyone gets pissy about a spacecraft impacting the surface of Jupiter. It IS possible, as gas gets denser it can feel solid in a gaseous state. Please watch videos on what would happen if you were to fall on Jupiter or Saturn, you'd be surprised. The first several layers of gas would act just like regular gases, but as gravity grows more intense the more you'd be able to _swim_ in it until you reach a layer you can no longer sink into. You would be standing on the densest layer of gas and you still wouldn't be at the core of the gas giant yet. Not that you'd be alive to experience it anyways, the atmospheric pressure would have long since killed you around the third or fourth layers.

I am now more curious about the moon "IO". Humanity is lucky, more so then probably deserved as a quick skim of the SCP files would show, but it is always a little more then luck. This advanced world breaker couldn't see a relatively, for the speeds it had to be going, stationary object in it's way.
Maybe, or maybe IO has it's own secrets to tell.
The Great Red Spot’s getting smaller, so maybe the repairs went smoother than anticipated. Hope the Foundation has some contingencies.

The amount of times life on earth has been protected by Jupiter is truly unknowable. Without our cosmic shield we wouldn't have a chance. This is something to take into consideration when thinking about inhabiting new worlds.

Couldn't you use the power source from SCP-2700-3 to potentially fuel whatever would be needed to stop it? Isn't it like an infinite source of power? Granted, it would be dangerous, but the alternative is complete destruction, regardless. I think there's at least a basis for an idea there.

Dangerous but probably effective idea (for a situation when Legionnaire fails/isn't completed in time): Take a nuke, feed it to 914 at V. Fine, and launch whatever the result is at this thing. Would probably be powerful enough to wipe out stars, so should be enough to do the job, repercussions not withstanding.
The terror of this SCP is actually made worse by the fact that the Red Spot is actually shrinking.
This was the first acknowledgment I saw of the new classification system. i don’t know what other people think, but I am not a fan of it at all. The vagueness of the old system allowed the “story” of the SCP and its complications to unfold over the reading of it, instead of front-loading a clutter strange, coded jargon and series of odd symbols on each file that, even if understood, gave much of the discovery and mystery of an SCP away.

We've seen that this scp has no countermeasures against the forces of gravity. So a weapon that increases the gravity around it so much that it gets crushed like a tin can seems like the right direction to me. As for whether the scp foundation has that kind of technology is another question
Either the material it is made of is too strong that even Jupiter's gravitational force cant affect it, or it does have the contermeasures you are mentioning. Otherwise, it would have already been crushed like a tin can.

I have an idea for neutralization. Two in fact, first rests on a possibility, Is the machine capable of concious perception? As in capable of interpreting images. If the answer to that question is yes... Why dont we send it a signal, disguised as one from its creators with the same encryption, and signal wavelength, Containing an image of SCP-096. We already know SCP-096 can reach just about anywhere in the universe at increasing speeds based on the distance, so it would be able to enter the great red spot and tear the machine to shreds. Another plausability, is to send SCP-096 itself to the ship, and put it near its camera. It would then beam back the image to its creators, the image of SCP-096's face. Then it would likely catapault itself to the triangulum galaxy and slaughter our attackers.

I have three. None of them involve 096, I didn't even think of that. My thought process was that if we can intercept and interpret the signals, we can make our own. There are two paths I saw from here
1. Tell it to not listen to any further signals and shut down all systems. Then we reverse engineer it.
2. Go full ape-man and DDoS it.
The third solution involves something like 10000 nuclear bombs. Except, they will be the power source this time, not the payload. The nukes would each power an X-ray laser, and if you're precise, one inch of the destroyer will be hit with about 8x10^18 joules. A large chunk of the destroyer would instantly turn to plasma. I don't care what it's made of. It would turn into plasma.

Why do I have the impression that some of the Ends of the World SCP would step up to protect their favorite playground.
Everyone always assumes this thing came in-system to wipe out Humanity (because anthropocentrism is a thing). But Humanity (especially in the 17th century) doesn't rate enough to send that much firepower (unless the irony is that was the *smallest* thing in the fleet/arsenal). But what does rate are entities like the Daevites, Yaldabaoth, and even Mekhane. It's even possible that someone(s) or something(s) became aware of Yaldabaoth's involvement with Life on Earth and said: "No."

I don’t think SCP-2399 wants to destroy humanity: it just wants to stop by and ask for supplies.
I believe that there is no SCP-001, and the real SCP-001 is SCP-184.
The real SCP-184 is at the center of the universe, resulting in it’s expansion.
The reason we have an exact copy is because it accidentally created a duplicate of itself due it’s properties when affecting stuff from a distance.
Pocket dimensions and anomalies are the result of SCP-184, and there will be countless other anomalies on other planets.

One kinda did, in one incident involving the church of the broken god, the church accidentally created a mechanical monster that the foundation couldn’t defeat, then a woman (whom some believe is the the incarnation of the broken mechanical god) raised her hand to the sky and the destroyer suddenly appeared and fired at the monster destroying it, then the destroyer returned to Jupiter and the woman disappeared
So we've tried EMPs and nukes, and our back up plan "Protocol Legionnaire" is...

Let's pull McAllan off this and get someone with a little more lateral thinking.
I think it's because the previous EMP (Nukes were good enough since there were a lot) were too weak. They couldn't pass through the shield or didn't weaken it enough.
The project : Legionnaire, is about having such a power weapon EMP that it would disable the shield through it or just so strong so the whole SCP-2399 is shutdown for a brief moment
so the nukes can take it out with no problems.
Because SCP-2399's whole problem is it's shield.
But yet again, what they're looking for really, is to find a way to have an EMP weapon with such power.

If the foundation can intercept and decode transmissions to the destroyer, then they could send their own transmissions to it. Maybe even a good old return to sender, with additional orders to destroy it's reciever to prevent new orders.

It's interesting that the narrator realizes Jupiter is a gas giant, but the illustrator who shows the destroyer crashing into the "surface" of Jupiter does not seem to know it's a gas giant.

If you can see it through its shield the emp and heat effect of several nukes should penetrate. I think that is bit of a plot hole. If the radius of the shield isnt like + 10 km
