great video and great topic, i was going to make one on this topic also :) but you've explained it very clearly and well, this will help a lot of new caridina shrimp keepers. i cringe at the term tap water since everyone's tap water is different and you're right, throughout the year it can change, in my area when there's heavy water falls, the water changes. keep up the great work, can't wait till your channel grows to 100k+ subs!
Thank you so much for the comment! It means a lot to me! I really hope it will help a lot of people who aren't sure. 😊 And I agree about tap water. It's scary how the water quality fluctuates with rainfall and in general. Overall it's just a really bad idea to use. I don't even use it on my houseplants...
Great video. Clear, Concise and to the point. You are bang on with focusing on GH. Way too many people chase TDS and drive themselves nuts as it fluctuates all the time.
I've recently changed my high-tech tank over to Remineralised RO with GH+ salts, since I would like to add Blue Bolts to the tank. Do you think they will be fine with the CO2 injection?
Thank you so much! 😊 I use Akadama in all my tanks. It's not the best for rooting plants, but it works very well for epiphytes and also for Caridina because it buffers the pH.
@@ellies_exotics General hardnes is 2,4 where I live and it is considered quite hard. Ph is 8,2 so that would need adjusting. KH is 51, can not remember if that is good or bad right now, and of course 0 Fluoride.

I miss you, truly.

Thank you, Jon! I really appreciate the comment 😊
I have Neocardinas in RO water, should I be worried? It's day 3 now
Wise words and served in clear way. Thank you!
Just got a tank with shrimp last year and I think there is the greatest little guys. How to keep them alive and thriving.
Super smart
Very cool setup and presentation 👌
Thank you so much! 😊
How do I lower KH? I really enjoy your videos ❤
Very helpful information. Thanks for sharing. 😉
Thank you, Reggie! 😁
Great video. Thank you
Thank you, Rikkie! I really appreciate it! 😊
fascinating, thanks
Hey! I was just wondering where you do you get your akadama soil from
Hi Jonathan. I got it from an online store near me, but most nurseries sell it if they sell Bonsai trees as it's a Bonsai soil mix.
I've recently changed my high-tech tank over to Remineralised RO with GH+ salts, since I would like to add Blue Bolts to the tank. Do you think they will be fine with the CO2 injection?
I've never had issues keeping shrimp in CO2 tanks. As long as your CO2 levels are within the safe levels they should be 100% 😊
Hi Ellie. Great information here. Just curious how often do you do water changes. .? For both breeds thanks. 😊
Hi Ken, thank you! I do water changes every Sunday on all my tanks 😊 shrimp tanks only 10% weekly.
Hi, love your videos. What type of substrate are you using?
Thank you so much! 😊 I use Akadama in all my tanks. It's not the best for rooting plants, but it works very well for epiphytes and also for Caridina because it buffers the pH.
My tap water is very soft! The pH is 6.0,KH is 2 and gh is only 3! The tds is also low being only 53.
That's good quality tap water! KH and GH are still too high for Caridina though. GH is fine but they prefer a KH of 0-1.
@@ellies_exotics The tap water also doesn't change from month to month and I prefer to do very small water changes too.
@@_invertico_ you're lucky!
@@ellies_exotics does your tsp water change often or change here and there?
@@_invertico_ yes, it's different every time I tested... Which is why I don't use tap water for any of my tanks 😐
❤youre Videos
Thank you, Volker! 😊😊😊
my pleasure Ellie😍
I think tap water follow a different standard in Sweden
What's the parameters of your tap water there?

@@elinjansson8638 pH is definitely way too high for Caridina but that's a nice GH. You'll probably be able to keep Sulawesi easily.

Thank you 😊😊😊
Great intro…😂
🤣 thanks Mike!
Soo fine 😍😍
