My dogs are trilingual. They understand "water" in English French, and Spanish. They understand "sit" and "down" in the same three languages. We're working on "biscuits". I'm just ensuring that, when I die and they must go to a new home, their transition will be easier.

Hey Bill, happy Tuesday selective hearing 👂 👂 you say. I believe that works for people too. We hear what we want to hear and about something we like we’re gonna respond if it’s something we don’t like we’re gonna keep acting like we didn’t hear it but we did. We won’t let you know that. Hehe 🤭

One of cats can tell time. He let us know it wad time a weekly radio program we listen to was about to come on 😹

Wait a minute I got selective hearing too
Even if I'm not talking to him, if my dog hears the word 'ride' or 'walk', he starts dancing around and will beat me to the truck door. This happens even if I'm in a different room so there's no subtle sign that gives it away. The only way to stop him is the magic words 'You stay here.' On the other hand, he's totally deaf when he starts heading over to the neighbor's place.
I talk to my corgis all the time and trust me they know what you're saying if they know before you finish the sentence and they listen better than my husband. 😂😂😂

my Dogs fav was Go...it didnt matter where ..but "Go" usually followed by fun things.... walk ,ride..outside...

no makeup.. put on a few lbs...dogs dont care.. wanna go outside?even when you don't wsnt to they get do excited for simple things and best greeters even when others dont even reply hello when you come in and say hi.... then theres a hsppy wiggly furry bud that can't contain excitement...or maybe its just their pee cuz other was too busy and couldn't be bothered....ok. Lets go!

Hi Bill.... my dog sure knows are you hungry. Also, when I'm laying down on couch watching TV, I want to move I tell dog to trade places and he gets it and moves to other end of couch. Selective hearing absolutely. The cats..... well they don't give a rat's pi-toot what I say. Take care.
My neighbors had some dogs that learned the word ride and so they'd spell it R I D E but pretty soon they learned to spell too.

Dogs are also manipulative .... they will stare at you (DO NOT make eye contact !!!)
If you do make eye contact it's over (even if it's just for a nanosecond). Once eye contact is made the door to your soul is open and they will continue to stare at you until you SAY and DO 'exactly' what they want you to do.
It's that simple.
Now if we could just become as special/awesome as our dogs think we are the world would definitely be a better place.

I think they understand what we say, the proof is when training and talking to them
They can under stand gestures and certain stuff like food emotions they can sence like if we are not ferling good they can tell when we are happy sad sick or in destress they also know when there is danger near by there is a lot that we as humans do not know that k9s do know i learned to trust k9s over my own instincts
I used to walk dogs and there were 2 dogs that were long time sworn enemies. I had a pinched nerve by my hip for a few days and I could barely walk at all, the leg hurt so much I couldn’t get it to respond so there was no way I could take them out separately, and they didn’t live close to each other. So I got one dog and went and fetched the other one and it was world war 3. I told them that they had to be nice to each other because I was in too much pain. They instantly became friends, sniffing at the same spots together, the little dog walked underneath the collie. There was no aggression at all. Their owners couldn’t even imagine that happening, those dogs hated the very sight of each other. They just understood the situation was dire and became like friends from birth. It was incredible. So they do understand.
