In order of preference; 1956 VW Beetle Oval Window, 1960 Ford Consul, 1972 Renault Estafette. This is a lovely van and in really good order as are the VW and the Ford. You cannot fail to like any of the Austins and again they look in great order if you ignore the fact of missing engines which I am sure were found . If not I reckon you could easily get one! I think they have all had a good life and will go on to have a further good life. I do hope the Renault doesn't become a catering van, that will spoil it in my opinion but My guess is that it will be its 'next life' , Oh well! Thanks for filming Claire and Elton. 👍👍
Hi Stephen, the Beetle looks stunning in person, beautiful car. The Estafette is indeed lovely, the more I looked at it the more I liked it! Know what you mean about it’s possible future use. Would be lovely if it was converted to a camper. Thank you so much for watching it’s really appreciated ~Claire
What a wonderful collection! My favourite would have to be the van. It's quirky and cute at the same time. Thanks again for putting together a great video for us to watch. Hopefully when the auction happens you can give us a run down on what they sold for. Cheers from the west coast of Canada
Hi Robert, agreed it is a great collection. Mr Lewis had fantastic taste! I dare say we will post the results on our Facebook page. You can also watch Anglia Car Auctions coverage, either live or after the event 😁~Claire
Stunning find , all looked after… hey my first car was a 3spd column change… fabulous when all the bushings are good, you can imagine the gearbox is a long way from the steering wheel for rods , clips, pivot bushes etc etc… 😊
Always a good day when a new UK Barn Finds video lands! Of those, the Ford Consul for me, but they were all charming. Another great video, thanks guys 🙂
@10.09, Quite correct Claire York C.B.C to be exact 5211 was issued in 1934, the first number in 1934 was VY 4874 & the first number for 1935 was VY 6003
Hi Clair my first car was a consul with the column change and was easily mastered no problem. One of the quirky things about it was the wipers they were pneumatic and increased in speed along with the engine, however useless if caught in a downpour whilst in a traffic queue!!
Absolutely, it’s a shame the pre-war stuff doesn’t get the amount of traction it deserves. I absolutely love them, a challenge to drive, in the nicest possible way, always get attention and are an incredible piece of our automotive history~Claire
I love them all but my favourite is the Consul, very glamorous. The Austins are so lovely and it's wonderful to see barn find cars in such good condition. I'm sure there will be many eager buyers in November. Thanks for the video, quite touching. ✨
Thank you so much for your lovely comment and for watching ❤️ The Consul looks great on camera but in person it is truly stunning as you rightly say, very glamorous. Fingers crossed the cars do well at auction they deserve to 😁~Claire
Hi John, hope you are well 😁 yes it does appear that the Consul and Beetle are firm favourites. I’m still not shifting from Ivy the Austin 7 though 😂😂~Claire
Stunning cars . We should bring the designs back that WORKED on the eye and simplicity is reliability especially with modern replacement parts which are of the best revisions 50 years later
It was quite sad to see the empty garages at the end of the video. But hopefully, all the cars will find loving new homes. I wish the Beetle could come home with me, but i wont be able to afford it at today's values! Great video, very enjoyable - looking forward to seeing how the auction goes!
Fingers crossed, they will now. Hopefully, this video will get shared in a few of the right places. Each one of those cars was special in its own way. Which was your favourite?
good night Caire and Elton i love watching your you tube videos on your you tube channel I hope that you are all well and enjoying your barn finds please keep safe and warm please keep up your good work on your you tube channel I have missed yo u and your videos I am glad you too are back
Brilliant video Claire and Elton, really looking forward to ACA as always in November and hopefully these loved cars will make good money, that Beetle......wow!!!!
Me too I love the ACA auction, trouble is I’m glued to the live stream and don’t get anything done 😂 The owner is one of the loveliest people you could meet and as you say I really hope the cars do well for her~Claire
What a great collection, looks like they're in better condition than most barn finds. You should keep that Austin that you like. My dad in his youth had a 7. As far as synchromesh is concerned, I learnt to drive in 2 different cars, one was a Morris 1100 with 4 on the floor, and a FB Holden 3 on the tree, no synchromesh on first.
👍Great video, well narrated Claire with some great B roll footage! For me, has to be the Consul as my Dad worked on them when new as a Ford main dealership apprentice mechanic.
Thank you 🙏 it was so lovely to meet you and have a chat at Rustival 2. The Consul is awesome not sure how I’d get on with that column shift though😂. Are you going to the NEC show?~Claire
I had two mk 2 consuls 1957/1960 the column change was so easy to use and with the dash handbrake you could easily sit three in the front, the filler cap was behind the rear number plate.
Good to know Les, must give the column change a go 👍 I didn’t know the filler cap was behind the number plate, that is so cool. I’ll have a cheeky look when I’m at the auction ~Claire
I love the consul as I had one in my teens. The column change is great and in all honesty you do not need to change gear much once on the move. I have a mk2 Zodiac Estate these days so I am a touch biased
We can see you behind the door Elton . . . Have you taken over from Johnny English 🤣 Great to see you back team . What a nice collection . Consul or VW for me . . . The van id restomod . . . Nothing outragious . . Beefed up running gear etc . . Take care till next time . Bye from NZ👋🇳🇿👍🍻twa
Oh my goodness may have to go to kings lynn and see these little honey's I've always wanted an Austin 7. Must have been so sad for the owner to part with them. Thanks for sharing them with us. Dangerously I am only 21 miles away from the Auction lol.
Thank you Sally, I love 7’s too. I’m yet to buy one but it is firmly on the bucket list. We’ll be at the auction would be lovely to see you there 😁~Claire
You DO get used to a column change very quickly. In fact you get used to wildly different control locations. Motorcyclists, for example, usually change gear with a foot and operate the clutch with a hand.
It's great to see cars in good condition, which shouldn't take much to get back on the road. Consul is the favorite. BTW, whatever happened to all the cars you pulled out of that overgrown rural property? Did they reach auction or get scrapped?
Hi John, yes it’s a bit of a deviation from our usual fodder! In regard to the field find, we have saved most of the cars that we can get on the truck. Soggy weather and the need for a telehandler has put things on hold for a bit~Claire
Hi there, Elton has been disappearing up to the workshop of an evening to tinker on it. Not sure where he is up to but there has been progress 😂😂~Claire

I have found your videos again great videos Elton and Claire
My favourite was the Austin 7. I fell in love with that style of car when I was young. Watching chity bang bang.

Hiya Elton and Claire, I liked all the vehicles found, that's all I have to say about this amazing Barn Find, this is Choppy
My favourite was ivy. Beautiful red spotless interior, the console was in nice nik too. Great video guys cheers.
You have excellent taste 😁~Claire
Emotional discovery 👍

Hi Nick 😘 that’s brilliant thanks for that. Can you recommend a book/resource where I can learn more about the older plates? ~Claire
What a great collection of cars, do like the Consul.
Hi Clair my first car was a consul with the column change and was easily mastered no problem. One of the quirky things about it was the wipers they were pneumatic and increased in speed along with the engine, however useless if caught in a downpour whilst in a traffic queue!!
Some bloomin' nice cars there.
Another wonderful video. I loved all the pre war Austins. What a collection. I hope they find loving new homes.
Thank you 🙏 Me too, the Austin’s are amazing, I really want to bid on Ivy 😂😂~Claire
@@UKBarnFinds Ivy is a lovely car. Don’t tempt me 😀
Fabulous video!!! All beautiful cars! What a collection they had! Must be sad to see all those memories go!!!😢😊
Thank you 🙏 it is a great collection, the owners had great taste!

I would love the ‘56 Beetle first, second would be the ‘33 Austin 10/4 as my father ran one into the early 60’s as our family car, fond memories.
What an awesome group of cars. Good to see you back producing content. The Ford would be my favourite. Have a good week. Marc from Australia 🇦🇺
Hey Marc 😁 yes the Consul is amazing!
Glad to see you back... it's been a while... 🥰
Thank you Alan, things have been a bit hectic lately but maybe one day we can get more consistent with uploading videos 😂😂~ Claire
@18.59, It's got the later MK1 Escort hub caps on it circa 1973-75
hope those lovely cars all get a good home !!
Fingers crossed, they will now. Hopefully, this video will get shared in a few of the right places. Each one of those cars was special in its own way. Which was your favourite?

I had a consul convertible, same colour. The more delux model was called the consul 375
Lucky you, as a convertible I bet the Consul looks beautiful 😁 thank you so much for watching 🙏~Claire
The red one Austin 7
Well with your soothing voice I feel asleep after 10 minutes 😂 will try again later
Maybe I should narrate a sleep podcast Phil 🤔 😂
@@UKBarnFindsall jokes aside, you would do well, a lot of people including myself use these sleeping RUclips channels
I like the Austin 12/6, and I see that you might have found the engine and gearbox for it.
It would have broken the owners heart to have to let this collection go. What beautiful cars.
Indeed, they are beautiful cars. Thank you so much for watching 🙏
VY was indeed a York (i.e. city of) registration in the good old days when I understood the system!
Thank you for that 👍 I’m keen to learn more about the older plates myself~Claire

@28.09, Luggage rack as they didn't have a boot
I'm reminded of an advert or something where a young lady is "Just Bathing the Baby" and there's a Seven in the bathtub.
I don't recall that one. Do you remember which product was being advertised? We'll have a look for it. It's bound to be on RUclips somewhere!
