If someone else had served Sybil and Rizcel the adobo and the Cutlet, they'd have given it low scores too. They rated the other meals low on purpose and I don't know why they didn't stop to think that viewers would know they were doing just that. We've seen it so many times, they were so competitive, and for what? I also love how Hameda and Sohan just showed up to enjoy these dishes. Also, her reaction when she won vs Sohan's said a lot

Riczel is the bully that would come with her lunch in the table and judge what everyone that brought their lunch in was eating and claim her lunch is better than theirs. This episode was great, taught us who to be friends with in school (Sohan and Hameda) and whom to avoid (Riczel and Syb)

It was weird in my school. I remember bringing my lunch the first day of like 3rd grade and everyone looking at me weird bc I was the only one who did. Everyone else was eating the cafeteria lunch. Even the teacher scoffed bc she said I'd messed up her books or something. I guess they had to note who ate in the caf or something. School literally sucked for no reason sometimes

Cafeteria lunch is expeeensive and not rlly nice... I had to bring my own too! But I had a friend, she always got packed Natto beans by her Mom and hated them, but I loved them. Would always trade my Italian frittata for her Natto beans. Who needs Cafeteria food?

I'm really sad to hear that so many of you had to hide yourselves and your cultures, I was very lucky growing up in South London in a very multicultural setting and used to love going to my friend's birthday parties with all the non-British food 😍

as a poor white kid who was sent to school with potato and mayo sandwiches from time to time, I see now that the only thing missing from my lunches was any semblance of actual flavour lmao

I always got picked on for my school lunches. As a Russian who immigrated here to Australia, mum would pack me traditional Russian foods for lunch. They weren't smelly or anything, people just thought it was very weird, like soups and smoked salmon. I remember I got bullied so bad once for having a caviar sandwich because they just kept saying "you're eating fish eggs that's disgusting". Came home and cried to mum. I'd take caviar over vegemite or bologna ANY DAY.

I think calling “croquettes” cutlets is a South Asian thing lol. For me, that most definitely is a cutlet and my mom makes it in almost the same way.

aww rizcel and sohans comments hit home. comments like "ew, why does it smell/look like that?" made me so embarrassed to bring any homemade food to school, and now after hs everyones eating it because it's "trendy." appreciate my culture even more now, just wished kids were more open minded bc a ham and lettuce sandwich ain't all that lol

In east Africa (Kenya, Zanzibar, Tanganyika especially) we'd call cutlets cutlessi. The huge Indian influence on food met an africanised version of the word. Lots of examples of this along the region

They’re actually two different things in Australia! Tomato sauce is very similar-looking to ketchup but the consistency is more runny and it tastes slightly sour 😊

@@cheyennemillar7932 it’s just a semantics thing- tomato sauce in the US is literally pulverized, liquid tomatoes. Ketchup is thicker, has the seasoning, etc. if you asked for tomato sauce here, you would get straight up liquid tomato

It’s so sad hearing them talk about hiding their culture when they were younger, because I used to do this as well! Im half Indian and now I embrace it and enjoy telling people this but I was bullied so bad for it in primary school!!
I forgot to mention there were no microwaves at school during my primary school years. Mum packed my lunch in a mini esky to keep my food warm. It was so hideous I'd keep it in my schoolbag and hand carry my books coz it didn't fit in my bag. so embarrasing
One of my friends in high school was always ashamed when her mum would make a full Bento Box, and she'd always trade me for my ham and cheese sandwich, bag of chips and coke. I felt like I hit the jackpot whenever she passed over her lunch to me and I got to eat what her mum had made.

unfortunately kids are still being bullied for their food one of my best friends is in year 11 and he gets bullied a lot for just being Indian, they take his food away and throw it and laugh at him, and reporting to authorities isn't any good cuz the bullies will get to know and they will bully him even more or the authorities won't even care it's so sad but its true :((
My fiancé wouldn’t bring his cultural food to school because people would make fun of him for the smells from it. He would have to sit alone if he brought his grandmas food. Makes me so sad.
I love this episode soooooo much! With the exception of the dal and bread, I'd have all the other dishes for lunch. I'm from Guyana 🇬🇾 and our culture is mixed. So there's Africans, East Indians, Amerindians, Chinese, Portuguese, and Europeans. Imagine having food from all those cultures. The options are endless. And it's a thing where you sit with your friends at lunch and you have like a mini potluck 😁 Loved this episode guys and I appreciate every meal. Each meal here today is the winner❤️

It should have arrived at the table - the way they would have received it as a child in school- Everything is nice when its fresh and hot. But its school lunches - how was it kept warm, was it sweaty and yuck after hours of trying to keep it warm, for the hot dishes.. You all are lucky, I got Sugar sandwiches, and wasn't allowed to leave my seat till I ate them.. Which took me my whole lunch period. Booooo.

I wasn't bullied, but I didn't like sandwiches, so kids would always make comments about my lunch of leftovers in a thermos. Finally in 10th grade (age 15), I was planning to attend a school club meeting, so I decided to bring the one sandwich I did like, which was tomato and cheese. I pulled it out of my bag and my friend immediately said, "What kind of sandwich is THAT? Tomato and cheese?? That's so weird!" Uggghhhhh.
Me realizing that we were on the free lunch program (US) and couldn't afford to take lunches. Let alone any culture based meals. We did get to take a sandwich sack lunch on the last day of school though! 🥺😅

I moved from a teeny tiny town to a big city when I was 12, transitioned into a brand new high school. The bell for lunch rang and everyone ran, I was used to sitting and eating. I took my whole lunchbox out with me and it was the beginning of the end for me 😂 I was an easy target 🤦♀️😂

The Adobo is how my mom makes chicken at home adding lots of caramelized Onions instead of the vinegar.. I am gonna try putting vinegar in it😌😌😌

I actually loved the rare occasions my mom packed my lunch. It was usually some type of breakfast taco(I loved breakfast for every meal). I was a fat kid at school so I would definitely keep my food and also eat the cafeteria food 😅

We still call it cutlet in parts of India. It reminds me of my father who used to take me and my younger brother to bazaar and we would enjoy piping hot cutlet from street vendor, the vibrant pink colour due to beet root, the crispy exterior and the creamy smooth interior with bites due to crunchy carrots, beet, peas and some other veggies, makes my mouth water.

The meal that you had to score was a culural school lunch and made the way it's eaten, if you add cheese and bacon to Sybs lunch then it wouldn't have been her lunch anymore.
