- Goldee's BBQ co-owner Nupohn Inthanousay, 29, said he was reluctant to introduce his Lao culture to Texas BBQ enthusiasts because he was not sure whether their reaction would be positive or not. After being convinced by his fellow owners, they decided to add in smoked Lao sausage and it was a popular hit with the community. Following it's success, Inthanousay was encouraged to added more traditional dishes from Laos.

I'm from Vietnam and grew up with a lot of friends from Laos. They're good family-oriented and loyal people.

As a Lao person, I love seeing this. Keep it up.
Asian/TX fusion BBQ really is the future. The flavors are out of this world.
As the world gets more and more globalized & nationalities intertwine - it's really the future of all cuisines. Authenticity will always have it's place, but melding cultures and flavors is where it's at.
What do you mean future?? lol
That’s been going on everywhere else in the country for over 40-50 years it’s just Texas late for these fusion food. I notice Texans don’t like to experience and step out of the box.
@@pinacolaaadasit’s been like this for a very long time. Maybe Texas is just behind in time . Lack of cultural diversity
As a Thai person with 30 year old
For me I never look down at Laos people I'm always appreciate that I born and raise with my parents and tons of my dad co work are Laos people every weeknd they made some lovely food share how to make and how they spoke that one a nostalgia to me
I love this! My good friend is from Laos. We have loved eating her food over the years and have started cooking many dishes in our home. We have also loved going to Lao New Year with them and experiencing that as well. I make sticky rice, larb, papaya salad, red curry and Bun Thit Nuong in my home. I know one of those is Viet not Lao/thai but we love all the asian inspired foods. We will come check you guys out!❤
im salvadorean and my kids are half Lao. i cook a few Lao dishes too. love Laos food
To be able to have sticky rice & Texas bbq at the same time 🤤
No more sliced bread tyvm!
Very Lao and proud! Thank you to the chef and Fort Worth star telegram for highlighting bold Lao and funky flavors that’s true to our culture. It’s so beautiful to see the community come so far and see that our food has always been so delicious and amazing. Keep up the great work and I hope to visit your eatery soon 🥹💛

Southeast asian reppin. I love my Lao people.

Didn’t know he was Lao. I had no idea that Goldees was serving Lao sausages and sticky rice too now? I also smoke Lao sausages and I just wouldn’t have it any other way.
Thank you so much for sharing this story and experience! I'm Lao/Laotian and have nearly identical experiences growing up in a predominantly non-Asian community. I shared this with my daughter and seeing where you are now is so motivational!
Mexican in California and love Lao food 🔥🔥🔥
A lot of Asian and cultural intervene in Cali. These type of fusion food Been around for 40-50years in Cali
Love how as chefs from other cultures we integrate our flavors and cultures ingredients to make people
Happy and show different flavors
My son is half Lao nd Thai I love the culture very respectful people.. nd the food is out of this world I love papaya salad with grilled chicken nd sticky rice yummy
❤ as a first generation American from a Lao family, it’s all about the nostalgia I swear! And the food always takes me back to my childhood
I've been long waiting for this. Thank you for sharing his side of the story at Goldee's.
Ik how he feels when he talks about how the southeast asian countries surrounding Laos looked down on us. Growing up in California I could never fit in with the Thai, Viet, or Filipinos bc of the same issues. Now that Laos has been gaining some recognition via food and culture, I've noticed a lot of the other cultures that didn't really accept us are now wanting credit for some of our stuff
Yup, ppl don’t know that Asians are most prejudice to each other.
Y’all keep reppin the culture and block out the haters.
Wow, proud of you for sharing our lao culture and foods to others cultures ❤❤❤❤
"A place of peace and respect and enjoying everyone's time". THis attituted is the secret ingredient every kitchen should have. What a spirit!

Lao food is actually good. For me growing in Thailand never seen anybody look down to Laos because we always think Laos as a brother. And they are really nice.

As a Viet I got nothing but love for my Laos peeps ❤️❤️❤️. Would love to try ur food bro.
Laos food is hella bomb! That smoke Laos sausage is a very unusual way of being cooked. But man I bet it’s 🔥
Never thought of smoking lao sausage, new flavor unlocked 😂
Where you been?? 🥱
Sticky rice with Lao sausage and Lao-style spicy papaya 🔥🔥🔥
This is GREAT thing , this is how flavors change & get added to American food & get integrated into our culture, LOVE it!
👍🏼 nothing against Laos. Not ever heard anyone say anything bad about Lao. (Had family speak badly of Koreans - who I have no problem with. Been to Korea)
That’s right we southeast asian don’t have problems with one another.
Might be the stigma of colorism from back in the days of the refugee camps, my mom talks about this but we don’t experience that anymore. I definitely agree with your family, I had very few positive experiences with Korean people as well. Taking Korean in college for 2 years was one of the worst school experiences I’ve ever had because the Korean students were bullies. They called all of the SE Asian students jungle Asians. It was one of the very few times I’ve felt so much shame for being Lao.
While I haven't tried food from Laos, I'm impressed that the decided to implement his dream of putting the food out for people to try it. From the size of the crowd lining it up, it appears he's doing good. I hope he continues that success and keeps spreading his cuisine throughout the state. Keep doing well.
Keep educating and spreading that Asian love, man. I would die for a Lao sausage made by Goldee’s right now lol.
Lime leaf is one of the world’s best ingredients, the haters are missing out lol.
I grew up with quite a few lao here in California. And man out all Asians, Lao people have the best BBQ. Wish he we had BBQ spots here like Texas has. BBQ is my favorite food no matter which culture its comes from.
Just stay true to yourself and your roots and culture and you cant go wrong. Wish nothing but the best for you, keep doing what you love i can see your passion for your food 🙏
Keep up the great job my Laotian brother! 🇱🇦
We Thai people love laos food 🤤❤
Great video! As I was watching, I was wishing you good luck and success with your restaurant.
Seeing that you are in Texas, I was thinking that you'd probably be down south, towards San Antonio or Houston.......too far for me to travel, since I'm in Haltom City. But I was very happy to see a mention of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram at the end of the video.
I googled your location and turns out your about 15 miles away in the Kennedale area.
I'm looking forward to visiting your restaurant next weekend!
Lao food is fire ❤🔥
yo, that sausage with the sticky rice and jeow looks fire..
And apparently the best BBQ spot in all of Texas.
Beautiful. Proud of this young man 🔥🔥
Hell yeah! I love seeing Lao people come up!
Sticky rice to Lao Cuisine is what the baguette is to French cuisine. Both these cuisines can be seen across multiple countries where they have left or brought their influence. Sticky rice is synonymous with Lao cuisine.
Thanks for keeping the culture alive and the traditional to our youths
LOVE THIS! SO PROUD TO SEE THIS, COMING FROM LAOS!

Fascinating! Wish I lived in America to try this. Cheers from New Zealand 🇳🇿
Never forget the sticky rice. ❤ #Lao food is the best. Thanks for sharing this.😊
Need to visit this La Ocean BBQ. Sounds bomb ASF!
BBbq meat, sticky rice and Asian chimy churry is all you need
Sing Hay all day💯🇱🇦 keep doing what you doing brother
Going to try it for sure when I visit TX.
I'm Khmer and our dishes are very similiar. My non-asian friends are put off by the smell of fish sauce, fermented fish, shrimp paste etc. But boy let me tell you.. when they take the first bite of our pungent food, their eyes rolled back and a whole pot of rice gone 😂. I am happy people outside of our ethnicity are open to enjoy our food more and more. I love cooking for them though I'm pretty mediocre.
Adding this to my places to visit lists.
KHON LAO👏👏👏🔥🔥🔥
As a Hmong person, heck yeah my Lao brother!! I need to come to Texas to eat some good food!!!

My mouth was watering. . . Can see the love in your food!
Keep it up! The world should know of Lao cuisine and culture. Slowly but they will.
As for “looking down by other Asian ethnic groups”, I am Vietnamese, in my early 60’s and , I do understand what you meant. I know some of my people, usually older generations, do look down on Laotian, Hmong, Burmese people. Not much from the younger people these days. Keep your head up. You are doing great!
Ain't nothing wrong to be true to who you are. Be proud and stay strong
Love Laos ❤..well done!
Big respect sir. Keep representing.
Lao food is the best yummy!
So proud of you!! Sticky rice and lao sausage saap saap!
So happy for you and your restaurant. Congrats and happy cooking!
