I experienced the death wobble for the first time yesterday in my 2017 f350 with 30,000 miles. I was pulling a heavy trailer so I could not slow down very fast. Truck started shaking violently and I could not hold onto steering wheel and I’m a very strong guy. I went across the road into oncoming lane of traffic and into ditch toward a pole before I regained control . I have never been as scared as I could have killed someone else or myself. And now Ford wants nearly $4,000 to fix it. Wow

@Shabbir Khambatti Thanks for the info. I have also noticed that there are larger differences on drive quality with really small cars and quite large trucks/vans. Medium sized cars are closer to each other (thou naturally still large differences). Like I really prefer how Volkswagen Transporter drives compared PSA group, Toyota or even MB alternatives. And these are all quite good vans. But then again the Transporter is the most expensive one and too expensive for me (used ones keep their price well so they are also expensive in sense). I do not have experience with pick-up trucks but have driven some larger trucks (18 tons).

But normally it comes from lifting the vehicle and not buying the correct parts to keep all the geometry in alignment. My second wj was lifted 5" and had really bad death wobble till I bought an adjustable track bar which cured the issue
Used to work at ford, that’s caused by the steering damper, under a certain TSB that should be replaced with no questions asked. I know they had a updated part released 3 months ago.

Even if this is a widespread problem, something like this should not be accepted as ‘normal’ on any vehicle, especially not on a truck that I’m sure costs upwards of 60 or 70k. This is a safety issue and I sure hope OP did end up getting it resolved with the dealer if not with a lawyer.

self employed Ford actually found the problem, it's not from bad driving lol. the trucks didn't have enough positive caster leading to that wobble. after taking the car to the dealer seems like that problem is fixed

Examples include: turning vehicles, traffic lights, stop signs, sharp turns, braking vehicles ahead, obstructions in the roadway, downhill slopes, and many more. Not every driving situation happens on an open freeway like this with little to no traffic. If you own a motor vehicle, or have ever even been inside a moving one, you would know this. Maybe try not being a complete dickhead next time and think about it.
To clarify for anyone else reading this comment thread, the death wobble that we see here in this video is from vibrations in the road traveling through the axles and recirculating itself over and over again which cause turbulence inside the cabin. In my experience, a situation like this can be stopped by letting off the throttle and letting the vehicle slow itself down. It would also be safest to turn on your hazards and move to the right while youre slowing down to let other drivers know to keep cautious.

I experienced the death wobble for the first time yesterday in my 2017 f350 with 30,000 miles. I was pulling a heavy trailer so I could not slow down very fast. Truck started shaking violently and I could not hold onto steering wheel and I’m a very strong guy. I went across the road into oncoming lane of traffic and into ditch toward a pole before I regained control . I have never been as scared as I could have killed someone else or myself. @Shabbir Khambatti Thanks for the info. I have also noticed that there are larger differences on drive quality with really small cars and quite large trucks/vans. Medium sized cars are closer to each other (thou naturally still large differences). Like I really prefer how Volkswagen Transporter drives compared PSA group, Toyota or even MB alternatives. And these are all quite good vans. But then again the Transporter is the most expensive one and too expensive for me (used ones keep their price well so they are also expensive in sense). I do not have experience with pick-up trucks but have driven some larger trucks (18 tons).

But normally it comes from lifting the vehicle and not buying the correct parts to keep all the geometry in alignment. My second wj was lifted 5" and had really bad death wobble till I bought an adjustable track bar which cured the issue

Examples include: turning vehicles, traffic lights, stop signs, sharp turns, braking vehicles ahead, obstructions in the roadway, downhill slopes, and many more. Not every driving situation happens on an open freeway like this with little to no traffic. If you own a motor vehicle, or have ever even been inside a moving one, you would know this. Maybe try not being a complete dickhead next time and think about it.
To clarify for anyone else reading this comment thread, the death wobble that we see here in this video is from vibrations in the road traveling through the axles and recirculating itself over and over again which cause turbulence inside the cabin. In my experience, a situation like this can be stopped by letting off the throttle and letting the vehicle slow itself down. The f150 doesn't have this issue, and Toyota doesn't have an equivalent to a 3/4 or 1 ton truck.

@@sschevmale24 gas mileage is not worst than Ford or other big trucks, that's not the point of this video. Ford trucks have more reliability issues than any other truck, anf still would choose the Tundra over the F150, or F450....by the way, I've owned several Fords, and I still own a 2008 Ford Explorer, and all have had issues......never again will I buy a Ford
