  • We're still in Tokyo and today we are ONLY eating convenience food all day! I've been looking forward to making this video as there are so many delicious things to eat in these stores. Why don't other countries have such a high standard of convenience stores I wonder?

At 37:15 Pickled cucumber, in Japan the pickles come in 2 different types of methods: (1) quick pickled "Asazuke" (2) regular length pickling method. What you guys ate is the quick pickles, intentionally mildly flavored veggie cured & fermented in a short duration. It's cured & preserved quickly for a mild flavor by design. If you prefer a strongly pickled veggies, try the full regular Japanese "tsukemono" which comes with a full punch of fermented flavor, typically saltier too. These regular Japanese pickles "tsuke-mono" (means "fermented-stuff") are often eaten with rice or other food because they are too salty & too strong in flavor to be consumed solo, whereas a quick asazuke pickle can be eaten as a salad stand alone. (btw "asa-zuke" means "shallowly-fermented")

Thank you so much for your posting!
I'm glad that you have enjoyed 7-11 in Japan!
When I had been to the US (Michigan), I had enjoyed Slurpee (Frozen drink) in 7-11 day!

Thank you for your comment! I haven't been to a 7/11 in the US but one day I will and will do a comparison. I have heard Japan has the best 7/11 stores :)

Those steamed buns are usually not wet because the dough for that kind of buns soaks it up. Its a different kind of dough compared to a xiao long bao. Theyre all baos but different kind of dough :)

This video has a very interesting story 👍 "I'm Japanese. In the video, he is eating curry rice skillfully with chopsticks. You can eat curry rice with chopsticks, a spoon, or a fork. You can use whichever you want to use. There are no rules. I usually eat salad or other side dishes with curry rice, so I eat curry rice with chopsticks like him." That's what I think. By the way, it seems that some people in India eat curry rice with their right hand. 🤗

Always interesting to hear others opinions! I will be doing some videos in India soon so I'll be exploring the style of eating there too 😀

You can eat anything anywhere anyhow 😂
Even though I’m Japanese, I do walk and eat !
Just on public transportation, we don’t eat strong smelling foods😅

Ok good to know! I think not eating strong smelling foods on public transport is quite international. Thank you for watching ☺️

Convenience stores are expensive for Japanese people, so they go to the supermarket.

We didn't encounter many large supermarkets but I guess they are in more residential areas? Thank you for your comment ☺️

You should eat curry with a spoon. We never use chopsticks for curry :)

Everything seems cheaper than the USA. But I think Laos is cheaper than Japan.
