  • A pair of slightly modified Legacy K4s pull a mail express train with a few straggler coaches tacked on the end. I added Kadees to both tenders, with 3667 having one on the pilot to couple up 3672. I also added an auxiliary power tether to help these engines crawl over switches without interruption.

    I love how the exhaust beats and smoke effect are perfectly timed with the wheel rotations. Lionel's sure come a long way since the tinplate trains they offered when the prototypes of these beasties were in action.

    What an excellent job! I'm an HO scale modeler and didn't think that you could make the toy like look of Lionel three rail look so life like. Very very nice! Congratulations on being a great modeler.

      In my honest opinion, they are either using Atlas O gauge 3-rail OR they went above and beyond with scenery and made the Lionel 3-rail look lifelike!

    This layout and each of these models bring the age of great steam alive so clearly! Having the camera at ground level would only improve the illusion of the real deal in operation. Each locomotive is weathered perfectly as are the cars. This is real artistry.

    What really brings this layout to life, with all the meticulous detail, is the truly spectacular videography. There is as much creativity and professionalism in the video itself as there is in the execution of the layout. This level of video production skill could be used as establishing footage for professional dramatic media.

    The building of a quality model rail road is far more than just its engines and rolling stock. This model has a high degree of realism. and detail, so often over looked.
    Great job, who cares if it is 3 rail. ;-)

    First off: train, layout, scenery, everything looks amazing and so realistic. Great job. My question- in the lash-up, I notice the chuffs are in-sync, then slowly go out-of-sync. If I am to assume the locos are the same, with the same size drive wheels, can I also assume there is some wheel slip going on- if ever so slight?

    • @normstrains

      Steven Bullock thx man. The beauty of running a doubleheader is hearing the exhaust go out out synch. Lionel Legacy engines are nice in the fact that they use the correct exhaust rate.

    • @normstrains
      @normstrains  5 лет назад +1

      Keith M ha, I’ve never noticed until you posted this - been trying to find some lettering diagrams for this tender (90P70?). The Legacy 1361 seems to have the lettering centered.

    • @keithm5224
      @keithm5224 5 лет назад +1

      @@normstrains Yeah, I wouldn't have noticed it in person, but pictures make it fairly obvious. When I recieved it, I was pleasantly surprised to find it didn't look as bad as it did in the pics. I was planning on re-lettering it, but I think it's fine the way it is. I couldn't find any real K4s with lettering like that, it makes me wonder how Lionel messed that up. I checked the builder's plate on the tender, it says it's a class 130 P-75

    • @normstrains
      @normstrains  5 лет назад +1

      Keith M these are a few feet too short to be 130P75s.

    • @keithm5224
      @keithm5224 5 лет назад +1

      @@normstrains I really don't know much about Pennsy tenders, so I can't even suggest another class. Lionel got it wrong, then. That's what the plate says
