The saddest thing about all this is that all the drama began when Margaret came back into Mordecai’s life. While CJ certainly overreacted and has a dangerous short temper, she did have a point when she said that Margaret didn’t have to keep hanging with Mordecai since they didn’t keep in touch when she left for college.

I always felt sorry for CJ going through all that. She was a cool character and a welcome addition to the friend group, but she had to have her emotions constantly played with due to Mordecai's stupidity and his lingering feelings for Margaret. I was saddened that after she and Mordecai broke up for good, she was basically out of the show and only had a couple minor cameos afterward. The only thing I like about Mordecai's love arc is the ending. He spent his 20s desperately looking for a relationship when he wasn't ready for one, he needed to work on himself and mature.
That's why Mordecai getting married to a random bat he randomly met years later is such a perfect end for him. He found love when he stopped looking for it.

I see the show as a way to entertain myself, but the writers just kept building up this perfect couple, just to have no pay off, like this is my childhood I wanted to end with a wholesome SATISFYING ending, like literally when Mordecai and the park when to space, what name did Margaret say? MORDECAI, not elliena. When they got back no conversation and Margaret went to hug the beaver? I think the ending was forced, I wish they didn’t go to space or brought Margaret at least, because they had feelings for each other then it was forgotten somehow, I just wish for a generic ending. That's why I don't think Mordecai's a bad guy for it, he's a young dude who makes some immature choices and mistakes because he's still growing up. And yeah, of course it sucks for CJ to have her heart broken because of it, but it also taught her that indecision and immature partners ultimately equal bad partners. I'm sure she found a better match later on. Bit awkward but spot on.
Loads of shows like Danny Phantom had cringe romance that ended with them being together just cause “they got a crush” all the while openly winking, despite the “lovers” having no real chemistry.
Regular Show not only shows how cringe and unhealthy that is, but has a healthy relationship, as a counter-example
Rigby who literally was the worst at the series start, and disliked Eileen despite knowing she like him, even openly being rude, only to, over time, find her way cooler than he thought.
Honestly, he had the coolest romance arc in cartoons, cause it wasn’t really as much a issue compared to ANY OTHER STORY.
He organically and slowly started to like her, and becomes better for her, to prove to himself he deserves her love.
By earning his high school diploma.
Not just some words, but studying so hard he canceled multiple dates, worrying Eileen.
Mordecai on the other hand was way too interested yet passive, but barely knew Margret, to the point that before “simp” there was “pulling a mordecai” on account of- you know what you know this. No point ranting.
Honestly I’m genuinely curious how may fans assumed he’d end the series single.
TLDR; Rigby got the real ship all along.

I feel like this arc aged perfectly. Regular Show’s initial audience (including myself) have all grown up into the age group of Mordecai. We all now see how realistic this love triangle actually was and how much of a douche Mordecai couldn’t help being. I feel like if we asked ourselves what we would have done in Mordecai’s position, we probably would have ended up doing something similar to the ending. Get confused and eventually resolve this leading into nothing.

Yeah, Regular Show's romance sucked, and sadly, it's soured on me since then since it can do everything else well. It can be funny, it can be surreal, but it feels like anytime it did romance, the writing team hit a major crutch because it kinda requires almost everyone to be stupid for no reason, specifically Mordecai and ESPECIALLY C.J., who's main personality is her reacting in jealousy so suddenly. Yeah, that's...not good character writing. Doesn't help that she suddenly disappears. At least Margaret got a big break by having a big job, C.J. got freaking squat because, yeah, this show mostly being in Mordecai's POV REALLY doesn't help.

But you know, nowadays whoever wants some clout should write "mordecai simp haha" even in scene with him not simping at all

Margaret was 100% the reason why Mordacai & Cj broke up, and the show kind of didn’t acknowledge this because the show try to hook mordecai and Margaret back up. But anyway how Margaret left was missed up. Not saying Margaret should of dropped her dream school for Mordacai. But she kind of just abandoned him at the end of S4. And Her coming back was inappropriate because of the way she left.
Cj on the other head really liked Mordacai and deserved better. Mordacai clearly came to the conclusion that he couldn’t be in a successful relationship with Cj while Margaret was around.

Here's the thing, it was pretty obvious after CJ's initial episode, she was supposed to be a single episode character. I don't think we were ever meant to see her again. That's why they could make her as over reactive as possible. But when it came to her reappearance, they mellowed her out, made her more well-rounded character. The only time she even went Darth Cloud, was when she thought Mordecai was hurt, not an over reaction. When Margaret came back, they wrote her out to be that same one episode character. She over reacted to every thing having to do with Margaret and Cj. And it was clear the writers were just trying to break them up. Which sucks, because they were actually interesting to see as a couple. Instead of giving Mordecai and CJ an opportunity to talk about it like people in a relationship would, they just act like it's resolved in some way by the end of each episode. They couldn't even give a satisfying breakup, or send-off to her character. She had become friends with Eileen, never mentioned again. They treated her like Mordecai did, a placeholder until something better came along.

I don’t know if the shift in Mordecai was intentional but I think this just goes to show that not everyone is good at love. Everyone makes mistakes. No one is perfect. Not Mordecai, not Margaret, not CJ. No one is perfect. But because characters like these aren’t that good at romance, that doesn’t mean they’re bad characters in general. I keep seeing comments on people dissing Mordecai for fumbling around and messing up and how he’s a loser. While it’s true he does things we don’t agree with, he’s just a guy who tries so hard to not mess up that he ends up messing up. I’m okay with people posting comments stating their opinions on topics like this, it’s when it’s the same comments over and over and over again that make it exhausting.
Like I said, Mordecai isn’t like every other character who succeed in finding that special someone. He’s someone who has a heart and does what he can to help people. And there’s moments where he makes mistakes. It’s like the comment:
“You do good, nobody notices; you make one mistake and everyone is quick to judge you”.
While he’s made several mistakes, it still stands. He’s someone who may have trouble with romance but that doesn’t change on me loving his character in general.
      No one is perfect

What other person commented to me that a mistake is when you forget to feed your pet for a week but Mordecai is a shit person and they used dumped at the altar and the time when he teased rigby about being weak as examples though I'm pretty sure all of this has to do with dumped at the altar. And again with the white people are talking about him they probably wish he died during all those times when he was so close to death or he might as well have stayed in dumptown USA CJ certainly wants nothing to do with him according to the creators she doesn't talk to any of her old according to the creators she doesn't talk to any of her old friends any of Mordecai's friends anymore because of their breakup.

Cj didn't deserve what she got and honestly they had good chemistry the problem was just the miscommunications always happening. Bc CJ wanted to make amends w Margaret after the helicopter episode she invited her to the double date n she did acknowledge her anger issues. I think dumped at the alter was mordecai actually choosing Cj but he did it in his way which led to them splitting. Even thought he and Margaret had chemistry and could have been a thing after, they made the right decision of focusing on themselves rather than trying again. But definitely watching the show when you're older and around mordecai's age, there's more sympathy for some of his actions after realizing how messy some relationships are

Was thinking that for a while. He’s also a terrible best friend. Back to the horrible bf he was horrible material for woman ofc him being a suck up or a simp. It took many seasons for him and Margaret to finally end up only for her to leave for college. Then after a while he got back on his feet only for him to be weirded out again by an old flame being CJ. Cj was a gir who he had a lot in common with but gave her up no problem since he was more unit Margaret and ruined his chances with her until the New Years party. Eventually they have an arc where they go from friends into an actual relationship and it’s legit as they had good chemistry for that season. Next season pulls up and drama starts as it’s revealed Margaret is back in town and mordecai still being a weirdo is immediately shaken and weird that he can’t act right around a girl who wasn’t really his girlfriend and to top that that’s where problems arose as he ended up kissing Margaret and had Cj suspicious of him. More episodes add on that the relationship wasn’t gonna last as cj didn’t want Margaret joint them on trips because of the stunt mordecai pulled. As if that wasn’t enough that episode where mordecai tried to apologize to cj was so horrible Ik surprised she didn’t dump him as the dude shows he’s still in contact with Margaret even hugging her. It’s gets tense when mordecai is invited to Margaret’s party and is weird about it although it can be argued Margaret should’ve told her dad not to invite them about the current situation. Heck she even tried coming up to him in the party despite knowing he has a gf which set cj to a frenzy. Skipping to the end ultimately mordecai being a weirdo and making muscle man’s wedding about him showed how sucky of a person he was as cj thought the worst and dumped him. It’s inferred he wasn’t that happy in the relationship by rigby but was a huge mess that he dipped work. So as if that whole situation wasn’t bad enough they have an episode where the two are still weirded out after everything and choose to remain friends. I honestly didn’t expect mordecai t be worth anyone in the finale since he ruined his chances with those two

Honestly I loved the arc. Yeah it got a little annoying at points, and sometimes the writers felt like they didn't know what they wanted, but after everything, I feel the writers did have a plan with this, and scripted it out in a really great manner. Like you said it's messy and real, and near the middle of the show, I got so invested once I knew this was different. So many shows have a pretty standard relationship arc. Either straight up will they won't they until it happens, or already established romance that goes through lots of trauma. But this show really felt like it was approaching this in a way that wanted to be taken seriously. It kinda helped me personally set grounds as I started transitioning into my 20s since I hadn't really dated anyone until after highschool. So many things overly romanticize things and portray very cutesy perfect relationships. And I, in my youth, held on to that mental image of what love should be and apparently always is, until regular show threw that out the window for me. All of that got so messy and just awful on every one involved, but it also showed that there was still everything after, that it wasn't the end of the world. I think that's admirable for a kids show, especially for teens. My first relationship was pretty far from fantastic, and alot of it was bad desicions on my part, that I had to learn from and make amends for

Not every character is the best handling a steady relationship especially when it involves one that looks stable and one that you were involved with in the past. @@DaedricThot For real though. I feel like I can’t go onto any RUclips video where it involves anything with Rigby and Eileen’s relationship, Mordecai and Rigby’s friendship, or anything similar without A LOT of people saying “Rigby handles a relationship better then Mordecai”, “Mordecai is a simp”, or stuff like that. I get that it was supposed to be a joke in some case, but when you say it or see it over and over and over again, it just becomes annoying.
Mordecai did have moments that may be considered simp related like in Laundry Woes, he deeply inhales the smell of Margaret’s sweater. Except, he was still rather vulnerable after just ending a relationship with someone he had a crush in for years and never had the courage to directly say anything without stumbling. He’s in his early 20s and everyone makes mistakes in life and the wedding incident definitely was one. If anyone can respond with a little more in depth in this to possibly somehow in all of humanity defend Mordecai for this action, say it in the comments. But again, he’s still in his 20s, he’s not perfect, no one is.

    • @DaedricThot
      @DaedricThot Год назад +2

@@thewillofabeast9079 dude that’s so true! Mordecai gets a lot of unnecessary hate but I feel like it’s mainly because of his relationship with CJ. I also think people forgot or haven’t had a crush on someone in a long time. Tbh most people would react and respond similarly (excluding killing your best friend) not knowing what to say to your crush, having massive anxiety about hanging out with them, feeling crushed when your crush is into someone else. He’s realistic.
I also wanna point of that CJ wasn’t the best person for him either, she did have anger issues. Granted they weee triggered by Mordecai but it how Mordecai used her to fill the void Margret left behind only for him to embarrass CJ publicly in front of all his friends. Its gut wrenching watching him fumble, but CJ definitely misread a lot of Mordecai’s intent which I feel like only a few are able to understand. She wasn’t perfect either and neither was Margret. I’m just glad CJ decided to not be friends with him anymore, I wish they didn’t write her off like a bitter ex, but she’s one of my favorite characters.
Also Rigby was an asshole to Eileen I think people really hype their relationship up but he spent most of his time dogging her behind her back, but I’m so glad he matured and has the relationship that is healthy, but he shouldn’t be put on a pedestal just because when he started dating Eileen everything was cool.
This show did not have to be this good and so relatable, and it’s like the more it gets older and as I get older, the more I understand the show was just trying to give us a heads up, your 20s can be really fun, and yes you will fuck up and you might hurt someone you deeply love, but you aren’t a horrible person and you can always grow from your mistakes.
