true. it hasnt touched unofficial at all. That said the higher rates and immunity to these problems are nice but the downsides of the server being wiped once a month or so obliterates the little bit of nice mentioned.

IT gives crossarks and there you only have acess to all the different maps that are not modded so 5 maps no one can transfer to crossarks i play on 1 theyre low populated but the alphas arę big and juicy and Bad at pvp you should ty IT! !!!!!!!
Adonis Sims I'll have to disagree, i get the question "who wants to start over again?" Nobody does but as new players like myself try to play without having a good high level character you get wiped. It'd be fair for everyone to start anew in a new server.

If you dont want to start over, then why go to a new server? and not just stay on your current server? What is gonna be different on this new server? if you still got everything with you. 2. Adonis said, he thinks it would be fair if your character could transfer over. 3. did you see the video and consider nooblets point? cuz you didnt say how nooblets point is invalid. 4. some people, inclusing myself actually do like to start over. A fresh start can be nice. I start over very often in a lot of games. What does suck is that in the case of ARK you also lose your levels. Which I wouldnt want to lose. Which makes adonis' point very good in my opinion. you still get to start over, but dont have a crazy large advantage over new players. especially on PvP this is important.
hi hi all good lol i get you dude the only problem i have with transferring is that, for people with lives who would like to have a chance of survival, it'd be less stressful. On new servers i normally join there's established alphas from different servers so for instance, the center map having dragons is not fair lol and new map aberration will probably suffer for new players with outside living. Good for the old veterans but like me i have no fun lol
I get so irritated with game devs anymore cause people play a game and work their levels up and you get new players who whine about its not fair screw that work you way up or dont play maybe whine to the game devs to make a super easy server
Our server just got completely wiped by a mega tribe. We had all drops spawns blocked +obs. Sorry but no one is safe, because you can transfer with rockets in your inventory and just blow up the foundations. The only solution is to block player spawns with pill boxes
A really easy way to stop this would be to assign "transfer points" to all items in the game which hafe to be spent at the obelisks. For example, a dodo would cost 5 transfer points where as a dragon would cost 50, 000. These points could only be gained over time, or through certain events perhaps.

I have over 2400 hours in Robocraft now... it took me longer to go from 2000 to 2400 than it did 0 to 1000 hours. I still enjoy designing new bots, but the loot system and consistent bugs keeps me from playing as much.
Yeah played Robocraft in the early time, have like 200 hours + 300 on steam... Stopped more than one year ago, pay2win, every update was made to get more money! Hm ARK, played it 200 hours in the summer holidays, its just not playable during school time. Didn t like scortched earth (fucking DLC costing) in Early Access, haven t bought it. Just playing Arma 3, best game, most of the time now.

Now, I can't play it for more than half an hour at a time before I get bored or frustrated by all the new and ridiculous "features" that are added (I'm looking at you, CPU-based matchmaking and the FOUR different anti-air weapons)
Well, shit happens. But even on PvP servers it doen't happen often....In fact , at least when i was playing, pvp in general, happend so rarely that the game got boring really fast.
The best experience is when you run your own server and have a group of close friends that actively play. Did that for several months last year and it was a blast.
Gen 2 coming out soon and looking back I can say this video was definitely correct. PvP in the old days was way way better than it is now. Today, it's either no skill left clicking on gigas or no skill right clicking on manas and everyone is named 123, tribe of 123, steam name 123 transferring around raiding. Now I like trolling now and then myself but the game shouldn't cater towards it and the pvp is ruined by the fact that it's impossible to have friendly tribes on a server. People say they hated the politics of Ark but that's what made it interesting in the old days. Alliances, betrayals and backstabs, paranoia, every server was a Game of Thrones style story that the players created. Hopefully in Ark 2 the most you will be able to transfer is your naked character, if anything at all.
Yep, same. I got sick of cheating twats on the 'net waaay back in the early 2000's, and haven't returned to MP since. Local LAN was the only way to enjoy it, knowing that all your invested time wasn't going to be ruined in seconds by some no-life moron(s).
exactly i prefer single player, the only way to stop this is to have a private server, the devs seem to forget the players on ark that prefer PvE, if i wanted to Pvp id play COD.
so if i get a lot of friends on to a server, and havng admin privs, spawn in high level dinos, cheating by admin to add xp, and spawning in items quickly, and making basically a small unstoppable army in hours, then go on to the sever you are on and destroy everything on that server, would that be fun then?, no is the answer, because this is what will happen especially by these mentally retarded trolls, have got fed up with masterbating their dog, and who think its funny to fuck about with people who just want to enjoy playing the game.
Death for Official servers* Ive played on and off between official and unofficial, thanks to these Chinese invasions im now just gonna enjoy unofficial where its nice and quiet in terms of server jumping raiders.
No one with a job can play official anyway, just a rex on official, even with kibble is like a 3-4 hour tame. I bought the game on release, played official for a few hours, then bought my own server lol

I don't play a whole lot of scorched earth but I joined an Ark PvP and there was a level 80 or 90 running around the south zone killing everyone who spawn in with his spino. It was so annoying I spawned in grabbed some berries thatch and then died multiple times. But the worst part was in the chat he was bragging about it.
Damn ARKs getting all serious. In before people start acting like its real life and unite the server and camp the obelisks and sound alarms when mega tribes start tranferring hhahahah. Man, i went on an official server once, it wasnt very fun. As soon as ARK possibly removes tether range people can forget about official servers and itd be like a better minecraft minus the digging underground.
Kaeden Forleo we have bounty hunters had one on the a week ago came in mercilessly killed some Chinese mega tribe trying to set up on our server. Did good hunted them down mercilessly. Sounded super racist though, guy did not like the asians.
Mister Quince They refuse to open them up as they are a hostile tribe, and they are locked down with fully metal bunkers and a lot of auto turrets. We can't build up to escape either cause they dominate the place
it's not even just PvP servers... there are now 'mercenary' tribes going from pve server to pve server wiping tribes by kiting gigas (or titanosaurs) to bases.

Yep this is why I stopped playing. I have around 1600 hours in ark, most of that time on the same server. Eventually became alpha tribe. United all big tribes on server to block obelisks and drops. Got invaded by a huge tribe all on wyverns, wiped the server pretty much. Huge waste of time. Basically went down how this video explains it. Dinos from scorched earth shouldn't be allowed to come to the island map. I shouldn't be forced to buy that dlc to get better dino for more protection. Not like it would of mattered really but still.
Sounds like there is a simple solution. Don't allow transfer between all servers. Make a few big tribe massive battle servers, where it's a one trip transfer. The big tribes can all go there, fight each other, get supplies from their home servers and try and take and hold these special transfer PvP servers. Already established servers will not allow transfer to them, just from them. So no one will be getting wiped out by huge tribes suddenly coming to their servers. Wanna make it a real challenge? Make the transfer rate limited based on certain buildings. So you have to "land" on a server, within a certain time period, then you have to build and hold a base in order to allow further transfers. A bridgehead for an invasion. If someone manages to wipe out your base, you will not be allowed to go back to that specific server for a certain time period, say a week or so. Now you got a real challenge for the huge tribes. Take and hold one these few super PvP servers, by transfering over dinos and materials in one huge drop, establish your base (which will allow transfers from your server to that specific base) and defend it so you can get reinforcements, as the "rulers" of the server try to kick you out by wiping out your bridgehead. Think of it like this, you build a certain special building on your own server, which acts like a obelisk. From there you can "target" one of the super PvP servers and set a time-window for when the "portal" opens. Once it opens, one person can go through like a "ghost" and set and plant your target portal on that server and once set that portal will be invulnerable for a few hours and anyone from your server can transfer to that portal. And you can only have one portal and only on one world. Once the invulnerability wears off, anyone can kill your portal and if that happens, then you get locked out of that world for a week. You can try and go for one of the other worlds instead. Make seven of these worlds, or so, which means you get one invasion attempt a day basically. Take and hold a portal on one of these worlds for two weeks, and you can open another portal to another world and try another invasion (which may leave the world you are currently holding at risk of getting invaded if you split your attention). There, solved, the huge mega-tribes now got a new end-game, and already established servers with smaller tribes won't get invaded and crushed. But they can make a pact with other tribes on other servers to try and do a mass invasion on one of the Super PvP servers, all putting down their portals right next to each other, making a new "alliance" tribe on that server and try to work together. Creating huge mega-tribes out of smaller tribes, so they can join in on the big fights as well.
Coming here after 4 years its funny for correct he was, he was spot on, because heres how ark is now Either you’re A) a pleb who works for the megas, and will never do anything you wanna do because you have to fill a quota for the megas, so you’ll always be in a stone hut with just a couple of dinos meant to farm B) a rebel sect that tries to help small players and fight against the Megas, but your time is limited and you will be wiped soon C) a mega member D) you’re a tribe thats just generally friendly, and maybe you build up on a server and the mega whos “claimed that server” decides you’re cool and says you can run that server under their banner. But just like the rebels, your time is limited, soon an opposing mega will hear of this and wipe you. Ark official is dead, nobody can play, because you’re limited, no matter your place its only a matter of time till you’re wiped unless you’re an actual mega member.
it's impossible to join in pvp unless they wipe the servers, every time i make a good base and put in like 8 hours with friends a day and build a sturdy defended base the alpha tribe wipes it, nomatter what server
Yeah, I played on an unofficial and something happen where the whole server got wiped. Not that someone came in and killed everyone. There was a glitch some where that deleted everything and all the survivors.
The taming time is what is a bit annoying initially, and then if someone kills your dino you just spent how many hours taming.. But other than that, official and unofficial have their different advantages and it all depends on what the player wants to experience, as you said, I don't mind official but I'd surely prefer unofficial and the better rates :)
Jayden Gilchrist what i love about officials is no admins, no rules, you can do what you want, but thats why i playy PVE official, but as of now im playing unnoficial atm, pvp official is a little too much because you got chinese hackers and russians and brazillians conquering servers, but for unnofficial, you just gotta find the right server and admins and you will have fun
I was the longest reigning alpha owner(tribe: Tyranny) on the most populated primitive server (Nitrado1) for about 9 months.. We fought the main chinese megatribe for about 4 months until dinotransfers came about without working a sweat (Scorched->Island only..) we managed to curbstomp a bunch of waves the first 1-2 weeks (golems, wyvrens, rexes).. everytime the chinese tribe clogged the server to 70/70..yet we held with our super quetzals and hordes of rexes&brontos then we got a visit with about 30 golems, 20 about wyvrens and 20 rexes and we were about 3 vs 67.. we managed to kill everything but 5 last golems by then all we had was bloody or dying. We moved to the main primitive scorched server, took alpha, held against hordes of chinese wonderfully, even once just me vs 69 of them.. (other members as well managed to hold solo).. *then the same story* and dinotransfers were enabled both ways, ONLY NOW scorched earth dinos are abhorrently weak, so all work accumulated on scorched earth became worthless.. hordes of chinese brought dinos from their servers.. *Put Golem ontop of Quetzal, GAME OVER* By that moment I felt content with what fun I had with Ark and it was time to free up my hard-disk a bit. :)
It's never easy to step down from the ruler plate when you are one of the alpha tribes, even if it was about 4 months ago I still remember how hard it was to let go of everything I built and tamed since day one. But for the record the chinese and japanese players never stood a chance we left unbeated lol
MR ROBOTO Trust me, we defeated the spanish, italian, arabs, french, russians, germans, american biggest megatribes and kicked them off the server for good as well as the chinese themselves for the first time 6 monthes ago, and fought them with no problem for a good 4 monthes - once the dinotransfers happened, chinese took over *all the primitive servers*. So you might think you're tough *BUT*: No one can stand against formations where 50 people with their inventory open force-feeding each dino in a 60 people crew, with endless meat and stone for food coming from their main servers. No one can stand against a full server with a handful of comrades, which once they get disconnected it takes a good 20 minutes to come back on because they have people mashing the join button. No one can stand against a full server attacking you 24/7, while on 6 other servers they are farming/taming dinos and bringing them back in
Retardasaurus Hordes of noobs, the amount of deathbags outside the walls of our mainbase on the last battle made my tribesmates and me literally crash the game continously.. couldn't go 2 steps without standing on a death bag
4 years later what nooblets said came true. The mega tribes wiped out all who stood in there path and didn't even bother creating a fair competitive environment for the sake of large scale pvp and guess how pvp ark died when they all announced in there clan youtube channels that the game was dead and there just gonna do a final war. Imagine that. Imagine you destroy everyone else's fun and kill an entire community and say "lol were gonna kill ourselves and ditch this game." And now the pvp servers are all dead and no one even talks about ark anymore. Fucking hell makes me sad to see the pvp aspect die and I hope the people who made it happen to this good game get there just desserts.
captain fatdog - ARK: Building Tips That would help I think but they could still find a way if they really wanted to. 2 allied tribes with pincodes shared is a possibility but I think that not allowing tribes to get to 60+ members would be a good start.
Good point, but I don't think it would happen that often. People in these big tribes don't even know each other, they join big tribes because they want everything handed to them on a plate, if they weren't in the same tribe they would likely be enemies.
+JazzBerry Beret nooooop i allied with every tribe in the RW on my server and that let us a bunch of small tribes stand our own against the big spookies from the snow while at the same time we never became a huge unstoppable wall of gigas capable of killing the server
Funny how games are pronounced dead which haven't even been finished yet. Some forget this game is still Early Access and is being developed, they need to test every aspect even server balancing with these decisions....

I remember when giga's game and they were op af and bases who took half a year got destroyed by gigas in no time and everyone was saying the game was dead afterwards. I do agree that this needs a lot of balancing, though i'm most certain the developers will do what is needed to fix it
Except there's plenty of Early Access games that die. This game being "early access" is just a name so they have a cushion to fall back on whenever they're criticized.
No, in this case the game is still alive and well, just some people are sore they are losing time and effort in PvP, where you should spend neither time or think your going to have anything every time you log in... I feel worse for the people on PvE that are getting trolled by people kiting things like gigas and rock eles to their base and losing everything.
Let's not forget that this game was supposed to get out of that "Early Access" back in June / July 2016. I still don't consider it dead, but it's still full of bugs and glitches that the developers aren't bother to fix.
As a newbie myself I fully understand, once I've got a basic grip on the game I might try to find a dedicated realm to play with others on. The only restriction I've got is I can't use voice comms at night because others sleep.
Jacob Weatherford your lucky sadly for Xbox one players you need a second console to be able to host a dedicated server and unfortunately not a lot of people can afford a second console kind of a dick move by wild card

When it was all one server you PVP when you need to, there were politics (which were fun, just like game of thrones) that you had to navigate, you couldnt just go attack and expect nothing. Vanilla ark will forever be unmatched. Give us that and keep QOL changes like incubators.
I got wiped recently on Official 365. They came in from Scorched Earth with Fire Dragons. The Alpha Tribe here has put the server on lock down but they have a endless supply of dinos and resources and keep coming. I have since stopped playing and 2 others were wiped who played for months. I'll maybe revisit this game in a year or so. Will be focusing all game play on Arma 3 and Star Citizen.
Anonymous On our server there is a group of people called Red Bears who only raid people when they are offline and are a bunch of dicks, they do not own the server a different more trustworthy tribe does and one of the members of Red Bears named Jimmy tried to extort and Argy from us but I managed to track him from the speech bubbles, bola him, and knock him out, he did escape a jump off a cliff and he is still at large due to failed attempts at catching him
319 controlled by one Chinese with lightening wyvern. wipes the server every few weeks or so, usually when they notice a ton of activity of people trying to rebuild
I stopped playing ark because it consumed all of my free time and and I was wasting my life playing for months, losing sleep, and for nothing. it was addictive and very fun but the grind took its toll. when we were finally wiped from the server is was more relieved than angry. I was free of the chores of maintaining a large base with many tames. I was finally able to play other games and felt content that our tribe left our mark in the history of our server. I played again recently but only to help a friend construct an impenetrable base. It was glorious and I had alot of fun designing and building in ark. I do love the architecture aspect of ark, and the PVP. I play on xbox and only wish that they invent game modes where u build a base and let people try to break in or be on the other end of it. and also put survival of the fittest on xbone. I don't think the devs are killing ark by letting people transfer, it's more like they're experimenting with it.
I might actually return to the game because of this... the server i used to play on is basically a ghosttown with everyone abandoning it.. its basically playing a singleplayer game at that point... this change would allow me to take my character to another server without starting over... basically a mega tribe wiped everyone on my server and then when everyone left they got bored and left as well leaving the server basically empty..
I never play on the official servers. The community on there (especially the ones ruled by alpha tribes,) is pure cancer. The players on official servers generally care little for other players and the largest tribes with the most players active at any given time always rule with an iron fist. Combine that with the incredibly asinine and broken mechanics that require absurd amounts of play time in order to do (eg. breeding) and you have a recipe for a terrible time on official servers.
On PVE, you can't build to close to another person's objects. I forget the exact number, but lets say its 100 meters. Every object counts, even wooden pillars. So if you want to annoy someone, you can build a pillar 100 meters away from their base, basically not allowing them to expand their base. But because it is PvE, the pillar can never break, so you will never be able to build anything near your base. Its annoying as hell!

We Play on a private server with active admins. None of this concerns us, It's not the death of Ark for a good portion of the player base like us. In fact, We'd never play on official servers. For those of us that have jobs, and lives, and play other games besides ark. The Server settings on official servers are unplayable.
in theory it can still kill private servers too, #1 idiot admins not setting servers settings correctly... #2 as official servers die, admins think game is not worth fleshing out and finishing, so any and all support for unofficial dies too...and while some unofficial servers may survive, they and all the SP worlds will have to play with current bugs and optimization, which frankly leaves ark in a crappy state to play..
Yeah no matter where I try to build or hide, I get raided within a day. So many dinos stolen from me. I don't even tame anything other then a para, anky & dodi now. Just because I know they will more then likely be murder or stolen from me when I log off & I will have to tame them all over again the next day. & the cycle repeats. That's basically what this game is for me. Tame Parasaur Ankylo Dodicurus, build a few turrent's and some ammo. Time to get some sleep. Log on the next day. Not surprised, I'm raided... and now I have to do it all again.

PVE should have giant A.I. tribe to defeat. maybe people mod it in some various way so have more challenge. so i can rest ez at night without having heart attack in the next morning. I think you are greatly overstating the case. Public servers are only one subset of people playing the game. I wouldn't play on them anyway because they are generally toxic and the game performance is so poor on them. I don't know if it's improved, but i got one when I first started playing and found the rubberbanding and ragdolling made them unplayable. The performance on a less populated dedicated server is like night and day. You can get your own server on HostHavoc for about $20 US and have complete control of who you play with. Problem solved.
that was long ago , dedi is trash compared to official. no one wants their entire ark career in the hands of some obsessed gamer who spent 300$ to play ark. Especially since they can just shut it down whenever. plus dedicated is 100x laggier than official.
Albert Pina depends on the server bud, quite sterotyping dedicated as some 10 year old crying to momma for a server. 90% of dedicated servers are run by communities and generally great places to learn the game
I've played on both lol official is just more grindy. I'm not even close to 10 either so I have no idea why you would assume such a thing. Probably the same reason why you assumed I was whining about dedicated when I play both,but just think one is better. Just stop.

Biggest rule of ark is dont be a new player unless you got plenty of lube. Me and few friends left 7 days to die for a new survivor game and we still have not found a server to play on. We cant build anywhere, even the foundations get demolished every night, all dinos killed, and we wake up in Tek cages. I've been on 10 servers and 8 of those has spawn cages, while the other two had a tribe running around with c4 destroying every thatch hut they find. Four of the seven already quit the game and I'm only still here because some still want to try it. In all my years of gaming I have never encountered an online game that was so badly handled by the developers.
My home server for the past two years I think was official server 18. I had seen alphas rise and fall, and the transfer of power happened from time to time. However, there was always a sort of civility about it, a general respect for the other player in some way. After this patch, our server got invaded and wiped by a mega Chinese tribe from a scorched earth server. This was even when transfer was just from scorched to the others. During this week long invasion, there was no civility, no communication, no negotiation. They were wiping our server, and that was that. Even if you were no where near the alpha, they wiped you. I stopped playing afterward for a few months and when I came back, things had settled a little but whereas the alphas used to be helpful and friendly to the lesser tribes, there was now a much more tyrannical alpha in charge. The server got invaded again by some new mega tribe and we were forced to flee with our dinos to a scorched earth server. I hate this patch as it stands and it needs some serious restrictions before every server is dominated by cross-server empires of huge Chinese tribes.
this is whats going on. im member of alpha tribe one one of Center map official severs. from my point of view server is dying, as game will follow soon to. we r blocked all obelisks and most of drops. that means new players cant take anything from them, thus ruin game for them and putting them in disadvantage. my tribe members get paranoid and kill every new person who joins server, because they think they r scouts. they r also raiding every1 single tribe out there, to prevent infiltration of incoming doom. more often on chats theres crys of smaller tribes asking why we r doing this to them, and it makes me feels their pain, because it reminds me of mine problem when i had tribe on international test server, being constantly harrased by 2 main alpha chinese tribes, who was coming back greffing us every 4-5 hours, not day, hours, without any damn reason, we were very friendly. worst of all, i cant help those guys whos crying, because admins r paranoid. yesterday we had scouting party, we manage to defend, we have multiple enormous bases which can hold up for some time, but with constant resupplies of mega tribe it will be a matter of time when they will be able to overrun us. from what i have learn so far, heres whats happening: 1. mega tribes (mostly chinese) have blueprints for stuff like 700% melee longnecks and similar 2. they craft those things, then dupping them at obelisk with glitch, which could be still in the game. get enormous amount of crazy good stuff, which can kill most of the birds an other animals in one single shoot. 3. devs of ark knows that, and r trying to fix it with wipes of some official severs whos used those duplicating bug, but wipes was announced in advance, so exploiters moved all shit to other servers whos safe from wiping, thus wipes of bugged servers was in vain. 4. when mega tribe go to crusade first thing what they usualy do is taming titanosaurus or two, than go with them to farm ur bullets and destroy metal defenses and structures, so if u really dont have 2-3 high level gigas, ur screwed (and with recent 2nd giga nerf its even worse) 5. being able to raid alpha tribes gives them even more stuff and make them even more stronger for next server raid server after server is dying, soon everything will be in ruins, servers empty and lot of hard work ruined. this game had huge potential, but devs droped all of this to the river, and with their "support" they showed that they even dont give a shit for theirs player base. sad days for ark r coming...

2k plus hrs in the game... then a light came on in my head that said "i could run a real farm and make money with the time and effort I put into this game" This game is too stressful and is full of greedy power hungry people that have never had any power in there real life so they have to freak out in a game... Its a chore and not fun anymore. PvP or PvE. Its a video game and should be fun. So to me ARK is already dead. I gave all my stuff, base. and tamed/bred dinos away to a fellow player and just walked away two days ago and it feels SOOO GOOD. Do the same and find a game that's fun and not a responsibility... Thank you for this comment buddy. I woke up this morning to see my base had been raided. I was quite pissed off but at the same time I was kind of glad I now have an 'official' reason to get rid of that responsibility you are talking about. It is so sad to see how a good game can go bust because of a bad decision of its devs. The raiding component in this game is lost when you can't even defend yourself from being raided nor counter attack. I don't even know where that other player comes from so I'll never get the chance to get my revenge. I am not aware of the reason that encouraged the devs to implement such change, but from what I am seeing on the Internet I am not the only one affected by this. I played in an official PvPvE server with a bunch of friends, they all quit over time. The server was nice as well as the community, so this server crossing thing has really fucked up everything there. Even the Alpha Tribe decided to take all their stuff and move to another server. This is definitely a nice way to make players stop playing Ark.
We WERE alpha tribe in a Schorched Earth server and got wiped the 2nd day the patch came out! We were on that server since day 1 and we re really pissed!

thi sis the primary reason i started on pve in the first place, i dont have time to be on all the time, and frankly i dont want to be in someone elses built buildings ect, i wanted my own and to play the whole game for myself. it got a little dicy when it came to raising a baby giga and taming a quetz, but for tthe most part its a friendly server so soemone else just gave me a lift on there quetz after i failed to grapple my own argent a few times and solo it. i feel a large tribe takes away part of the challenge to begin with.
but it sucks...because we are forced to do pve, which is fun and all, but you are so limited...you cant pick up dinos, which was a very fun and helpful part of ark, you cant build ANYWHERE because dicks like to pillar the entire world, and if you get fucked over somehow, you cant do anything about it. its just sad, idk if i want to play pvp, pr pve anymore
Getting your own PvP server is best you get all of the perks of a PvP server without the bullshit of a overbearing pos “alpha tribe” wish we could build nukes...would totally wipe a couple lol!!! I’m done 😂
not for anything but this has been a problem for island tribes for months. With SE we had a tribe jump into our server(primitive server mind you) with 8+ golems and dozens of dragons. They should link one SE/Island/center and thats it. This all happened way before this update. They took over a SE server and 4 or 5 where linked to our single island server. We held a single SE server as well but you cant fight/defend 6 servers. This is overall better for the island but now SE players understand the bullshits that been happening. There needs to be a fix. single linked servers. one center one island one SE as I said before would be perfect. With of course limits to numbers of dinos/delayed timers to bring over anything. Our answer was we started a server and took over most of the island tribes with us. Still full on pvp but dont have to give a crap about other servers anymore.
Douglas Jackson id say just remove the ability to transfer gear and dinos, that way there's at least a grace period to figure the "new guys" aren't there to make friends
as soon as you allow the zerg to rampage over easier pickings on other servers you destroy any balance that an individual server can reach. EVE online dealt with this by use of stations and 0.0 rated space (smaller guilds can use the safer areas of space and launch raids into contested territory for rare resources). Unmitigated access will indeed kill off any semblance of balance currently in ARK PvP servers.
IMO the only way to balance this would be set servers into groups by age and restrict transfers to within the same time-stamp group only, so 12 month old locked down servers can't raid month old fresh beginning servers. that or severely restrict the transfers into new servers as small dinos and characters only, nothing above lvl 100 or base resource transfer until a server hits 3-4 months old. Even then any large guild will score massive fun harassing other servers with immunity from counter attack and the giants will tend to avoid each other due tot he risk of heavy losses. The devs literally opened the official PvP servers to the screaming hordes of savages in the hope they will play nice and only attack people of equivalent power . . .
I say better to run tiers of official servers, have newb/training servers with limited dino levels (no transfers in allowed only export), standard servers for those with experience/eager-to-fight and challenge servers that are limited in lifespan that reward eventual victors/participants with skins, blueprint machines (I.E. a fabricator that exclusively produces a single high durability flak armour piece) and trophies (that can be stolen traded and prominently displayed) to direct the high end guilds against each other rather than setting the hordes loose on everyone that logs into an official server "because it's funny". Encourage more organised play by focussing the strong on coveting the special traits of the enemy (made near-invulnerable but time-limited like a tamed Titanosaur that can be stolen/captured/subverted) rather than encourage carnage by letting a high level wyvern rider guild slaughter their way across the global server list from an unassailable homestead.
you have some good ideas here especially with the one directional transfers, you can only port dinos to server that are older than the server they came from

jaco kruger you know the reason there was a paid dlc was because wild card (the company who runs ark) lost a 40-60 million dollar lawsuit to some ass wipe company who claimed they still their game. Wildcard needed more funds to continue running the gam me and producing more content. And even if they did it for just the money your not forced to buy the dlc

You basically have to have two consoles. I have a friend that bought a discounted cheap Xbox One to run his server and then uses his Main Xbox One to play on that server. This way, he can invite all his friends into his own dedicated server and everyone that joins can spread out and do their own thing and not have to worry about that tribal boundary thing where you can only go so far from host player.
Just like the old school network gaming!! Buy a base server (cheap xbone) and net work your xbones to it through a hub an hey presto - dedicated gaming without the BS!!

it breaks the game though what they need to do is limit tribe member numbers to around 10 people so that way Alpha tribes go away and every tribe can be on a even playing field eventually so there would be less stagnation on servers
a good way they could do this is by making a set of servers so say a 75 scorched and a 75 island could transfer to each other but not a 74 scorched and a 76 island
Vanilla rates are disgustingly low//slow anyways. Find an unofficial with good admins, or host you own, and you will be sick at the thought of playing officials.
I have over 2k hours in official pvp btw.. Ive already had more adventures in the 3-400 hrs on unofficials. Thats really what its about in my opinion.. not about who hits rocks for the longest.
Totally agree, played 750 hrs on official, the alpha tribe wiped us because we bought a giga egg and we went around the fucking clock breeding it for five days, then they came and fucked us in the arse, 750 play hours to the fucking dump and I hadn't even tried one boss or the hard caves, we tamed out forst two quetzal a week earlier with extreamly hard work all for nothing. Putting so much hours in a game that has close to no defenses unless you are alpha and can pop 10 turrets with 400 bullets each a day there is no sense in playing it. I already killed the manticore in a 10x everything server on SE in 180hrs so much more fun we recently got wiped but we are planning a nice comeback because... well you don't have to grind two months to answer to an attack.

thats no good especially for casual players for whom it takes a month to get a metal base and even longer to farm up to do a raid ... if they wiped server regularly the only people who could do anything fun would be the alpha tribes because they can farm a metal base in 2 days

Let me first begin by stating that I do like your videos. You'r one of my favorites and I love your temperament. On this issue, you're way off though. If Ark is dying, it's not the Chinese megatribes who are killing it. New players come onto a server, or folks like myself who might want to casually hop from place to place until they find a home. They'll never get to use the transfer function because the paranoid alpha tribe has blocked all the drops and obelisks. They will never see random blueprints. They won't have access to any of the bosses. These bully alpha tribes have made half the game unplayable. That's why I'm on the verge of quitting. I don't care about invading alpha tribes; I have ZERO problems with those folks. I don't want bully tribes locking down the server, preventing us from enjoying major aspects of the game, and saying "it's for your own good." I found some MC blueprints the other day from one of the only two drops that weren't blocked on this one map. Best thing I ever owned in Ark. Naturally, someone came in and took'em. It wasn't the Chinese. It wasn't some mythological invading "megatribe." It was the same jerk alpha tribe that had the server mostly locked down. A bunch of petty bullies, no more or less. See, some of us are used to getting our butts kicked. We're not alpha tribes, never were and never will be. But, when you alpha tribes actually get your butts kicked you want to whine and lock the game up for everyone. "I'm taking my ball and going home." That's exactly what it's like. The "megatribes" didn't cost me tames and characters that ended up stuck in locked down servers. You jerks did. Now get off your high horse, get over yourself, and make me some videos. If these megatribes are rekking you, then GIT GUD and quit yer whining!
When it comes to other servers you can't be too careful, don't know if the player you are attacking has a 60 man tribe in another server composed of asian people who play 24/7 and like revenge
Update to this after 4 years, number of mega tribes have dropped, but player skill and experience has increased massively. Newbie tribes are almost non existent at this point on certain maps, especially those controlled by the top alphas or megas. Now no map is safe, there is a huge bottleneck to break through the newbie level, and the easiest way to enjoy official pvp is joining a mega yourself. Only the very top tribes can offer a really good experience. From my almost 4 year experience on pvp officials, now in one of the top tribes.
ARK had been trash for a long time now. I put 1500+ hours in since it released and although it was trash to start I had hopes for improvement. Private servers are not included in what I think of the game but I didn't buy it to play on a private server. The Devs are garbage, idiots, and more words that I shall refrain from posting. Take a look at how they handled SOTF. Complete idiots. Do Not Buy this game if you haven't already done so. It is a Zero skill game. Point and click adventure. Hacks/exploits go unchecked until it's far too late, glitches that can destroy 100s of hours work in seconds. Believe it. Save your money and nerves. There are better games out there.
I wanted it to be good, and waited patiently. Even while 120 perfect tames that took Hours to complete were wiped out by random bugs. I bought and played scorched on official, started a tribe (alpha), raised 30+ wyverns (even a perfect 190 fire and found a 190 lightning when I quit). After that was done, I took a step back and looked at the game. Didn't like what I saw or where it was going. Moved on. On a side note, it is the last day of the anniversary sale for Star Citizen today. They are doing a great job and it looks like the will be into beta sometime next year. If anyone wants to get in and pick up some lifetime insured ships, today's the day. Have fun and take care!

I have a feeling it's intentional, they know if they do it without a good reason to attract new players they will be screwed by all the old players leaving etc. they hope this will cover up their greed, or something like that.
What if they made it so that you could only transfer thing once a month because that would mean that invading alpha tribes would have to with on there first try otherwise the server they invaded and lost against would get there stuff and be able to get stronger defence and as the time gap would be so big the invaders would probably only try once or twice before moving on because they were bored and even if they one they would be venerable to other invaders and will fall eventually as that still allows server wars but makes it more balancedEveryone tell me if this is a good a idea and if like share to help spread this idea!

I would think it would be better having one transfer but as much as they want in that transfer as then the invaders would have to properly protect themselves from raids as they don't have unlimited supplies and the more they lose of that the harder it is to regain than it is for the enemy so they have win with what they are sent otherwise the enemy will be twice as strong if they choose to return

Yeah. This is what lead to me eventually quitting. I don't know what the community was like before but I can tell you that afterwards? It was fucking venomous. The community in the online pvp and even pve servers was just fucking... cutthroat in the most literal way possible. I was a solo player for a long time and managed to fight off a few alpha tribes and kinda outlast them and it was fine but then once I started building up my own tribe and got to an alpha it just allll went to shit. We had people that stole dinos and uploaded them off server, people that were constantly bombarding our server with raiding parties literally every day or other day if it was a slow week from other servers and we fought them off for a month or so but eventually they amassed themselves and came and wiped the entire server in the matter of a few hours. Weeks and months of work just obliterated inside of a couple hours. After that I went solo again for a while and wandered from server to server trying to find some obscure place untouched by the mega tribes and I literally could not find a server that hadn't already been overrun by a mega tribe and then overrun by another mega tribe. And then the PvE megas are just as fucking bad. I literally had everyone in the fucking mega and alpha tribes straight up spewing toxic, rabid malevolence at me for like twenty minutes for simply asking for some basic gear to get myself set up so I didn't have to spend hours on my own doing it and just enjoy the game. The only way to play online is to suck up and kiss the asses of the mega tribes and even then so many of the people in there are legitimate fucking scumbags, and I speak from a brief spell I spent as a member of a mega tribe, that it's literally every stereotype you would relate to common street gangs mugging people and doing drive bys and shit. And that was consistent experience across each and server I roamed. So yeah. This game is on borrowed time and it's going to become one of those things that only a select few actually play anymore and fade into obscurity if it's not that already.
Helped a mega tribe, they milked me for my manpower, kicked me for giving an opinion on how animals should be used, and I hide with the account. They block all the drops so i cannot transfer my character out to a new place. After months of trying to transfer and no drops to be found, I ask for help, only to get handcuffed and caged, a level 95 lost forever. I hope either two things for this game; That they realize the game needs a clean wiping for every server, or that it stagnates and dies. I hope this game dies. It's poorly optimized and isn't even fun considering the people that inhabit it.

To this end, how about they make some Noob servers? You can only join on with less than a level 40 character. Wipe after servers, keep half their servers. Give people plenty of warning, so if you have 4000 hours on the game, you can transfer it to a new server, to at least keep some of your work. Then for the noobs, having completely wiped servers to start afresh on would be the best thing that could happen to the game.
ark pvp has been dead for ages every pvp server iv tried. me and my freinds just get a basic thatch house ( after spending ages to find a decent ish building place not blocked by a foundation) and so level 60 comes and murders use so me move and it happens again.. this is a good thing for me I can bring stuff from my private server and have chance for a change
it actually can be. In the beginning huge chinese armies trampled and destroyed dozens of servers. I remember a raiding party hit mine and we thought we were next but they skipped us. We had 'refugees' coming to the server looking for a safe place that wasn't destroyed yet. If that happens now, with all the time people have had to build, it would be shitty
And I'm just here playing single player, ignoring all of this doom and gloom and having a good time.

IT gives crossarks and there you only have acess to all the different maps that are not modded so 5 maps no one can transfer to crossarks i play on 1 theyre low populated but the alphas arę big and juicy and Bad at pvp you should ty IT! !!!!!!!

What does suck is that in the case of ARK you also lose your levels. Which I wouldnt want to lose. Which makes adonis' point very good in my opinion. you still get to start over, but dont have a crazy large advantage over new players. especially on PvP this is important.
hi hi all good lol i get you dude the only problem i have with transferring is that, for people with lives who would like to have a chance of survival, it'd be less stressful. On new servers i normally join there's established alphas from different servers so for instance, the center map having dragons is not fair lol and new map aberration will probably suffer for new players with outside living. Good for the old veterans but like me i have no fun lol
I get so irritated with game devs anymore cause people play a game and work their levels up and you get new players who whine about its not fair screw that work you way up or dont play maybe whine to the game devs to make a super easy server

Our server just got completely wiped by a mega tribe. We had all drops spawns blocked +obs. Sorry but no one is safe, because you can transfer with rockets in your inventory and just blow up the foundations. The only solution is to block player spawns with pill boxes

A really easy way to stop this would be to assign "transfer points" to all items in the game which hafe to be spent at the obelisks. For example, a dodo would cost 5 transfer points where as a dragon would cost 50, 000. These points could only be gained over time, or through certain events perhaps.

I have over 2400 hours in Robocraft now... it took me longer to go from 2000 to 2400 than it did 0 to 1000 hours. I still enjoy designing new bots, but the loot system and consistent bugs keeps me from playing as much.

***** I can relate completely, my first 1500 hours playing that game were almost non-stop, I'd play it every single day, it used to be everything I enjoyed in a game. Now, I can't play it for more than half an hour at a time before I get bored or frustrated by all the new and ridiculous "features" that are added (I'm looking at you, CPU-based matchmaking and the FOUR different anti-air weapons)

Well, shit happens. But even on PvP servers it doen't happen often....In fact , at least when i was playing, pvp in general, happend so rarely that the game got boring really fast.
The best experience is when you run your own server and have a group of close friends that actively play. Did that for several months last year and it was a blast.

Gen 2 coming out soon and looking back I can say this video was definitely correct. PvP in the old days was way way better than it is now. Today, it's either no skill left clicking on gigas or no skill right clicking on manas and everyone is named 123, tribe of 123, steam name 123 transferring around raiding. Now I like trolling now and then myself but the game shouldn't cater towards it and the pvp is ruined by the fact that it's impossible to have friendly tribes on a server. People say they hated the politics of Ark but that's what made it interesting in the old days. Alliances, betrayals and backstabs, paranoia, every server was a Game of Thrones style story that the players created. Hopefully in Ark 2 the most you will be able to transfer is your naked character, if anything at all.

I don't play a whole lot of scorched earth but I joined an Ark PvP and there was a level 80 or 90 running around the south zone killing everyone who spawn in with his spino. It was so annoying I spawned in grabbed some berries thatch and then died multiple times. But the worst part was in the chat he was bragging about it.

it's not even just PvP servers... there are now 'mercenary' tribes going from pve server to pve server wiping tribes by kiting gigas (or titanosaurs) to bases.

Yep this is why I stopped playing. I have around 1600 hours in ark, most of that time on the same server. Eventually became alpha tribe. United all big tribes on server to block obelisks and drops. Got invaded by a huge tribe all on wyverns, wiped the server pretty much. Huge waste of time. Basically went down how this video explains it. Dinos from scorched earth shouldn't be allowed to come to the island map. I shouldn't be forced to buy that dlc to get better dino for more protection. Not like it would of mattered really but still.

Sounds like there is a simple solution.
Don't allow transfer between all servers.
Make a few big tribe massive battle servers, where it's a one trip transfer. The big tribes can all go there, fight each other, get supplies from their home servers and try and take and hold these special transfer PvP servers.
Already established servers will not allow transfer to them, just from them. So no one will be getting wiped out by huge tribes suddenly coming to their servers.
Wanna make it a real challenge? Make the transfer rate limited based on certain buildings. So you have to "land" on a server, within a certain time period, then you have to build and hold a base in order to allow further transfers. A bridgehead for an invasion. If someone manages to wipe out your base, you will not be allowed to go back to that specific server for a certain time period, say a week or so.
Now you got a real challenge for the huge tribes. Take and hold one these few super PvP servers, by transfering over dinos and materials in one huge drop, establish your base (which will allow transfers from your server to that specific base) and defend it so you can get reinforcements, as the "rulers" of the server try to kick you out by wiping out your bridgehead.
Think of it like this, you build a certain special building on your own server, which acts like a obelisk. From there you can "target" one of the super PvP servers and set a time-window for when the "portal" opens. Once it opens, one person can go through like a "ghost" and set and plant your target portal on that server and once set that portal will be invulnerable for a few hours and anyone from your server can transfer to that portal. And you can only have one portal and only on one world. Once the invulnerability wears off, anyone can kill your portal and if that happens, then you get locked out of that world for a week.
You can try and go for one of the other worlds instead.
Make seven of these worlds, or so, which means you get one invasion attempt a day basically.
Take and hold a portal on one of these worlds for two weeks, and you can open another portal to another world and try another invasion (which may leave the world you are currently holding at risk of getting invaded if you split your attention).
There, solved, the huge mega-tribes now got a new end-game, and already established servers with smaller tribes won't get invaded and crushed. But they can make a pact with other tribes on other servers to try and do a mass invasion on one of the Super PvP servers, all putting down their portals right next to each other, making a new "alliance" tribe on that server and try to work together. Creating huge mega-tribes out of smaller tribes, so they can join in on the big fights as well.

A) a pleb who works for the megas, and will never do anything you wanna do because you have to fill a quota for the megas, so you’ll always be in a stone hut with just a couple of dinos meant to farm
B) a rebel sect that tries to help small players and fight against the Megas, but your time is limited and you will be wiped soon
C) a mega member
D) you’re a tribe thats just generally friendly, and maybe you build up on a server and the mega whos “claimed that server” decides you’re cool and says you can run that server under their banner. But just like the rebels, your time is limited, soon an opposing mega will hear of this and wipe you.
Ark official is dead, nobody can play, because you’re limited, no matter your place its only a matter of time till you’re wiped unless you’re an actual mega member.

Yeah, I played on an unofficial and something happen where the whole server got wiped. Not that someone came in and killed everyone. There was a glitch some where that deleted everything and all the survivors.

The taming time is what is a bit annoying initially, and then if someone kills your dino you just spent how many hours taming.. But other than that, official and unofficial have their different advantages and it all depends on what the player wants to experience, as you said, I don't mind official but I'd surely prefer unofficial and the better rates :)

I was the longest reigning alpha owner(tribe: Tyranny) on the most populated primitive server (Nitrado1) for about 9 months..
We fought the main chinese megatribe for about 4 months until dinotransfers came about without working a sweat (Scorched->Island only..) we managed to curbstomp a bunch of waves the first 1-2 weeks (golems, wyvrens, rexes).. everytime the chinese tribe clogged the server to 70/70..yet we held with our super quetzals and hordes of rexes&brontos
then we got a visit with about 30 golems, 20 about wyvrens and 20 rexes and we were about 3 vs 67.. we managed to kill everything but 5 last golems by then all we had was bloody or dying.
We moved to the main primitive scorched server, took alpha, held against hordes of chinese wonderfully, even once just me vs 69 of them.. (other members as well managed to hold solo).. *then the same story* and dinotransfers were enabled both ways, ONLY NOW scorched earth dinos are abhorrently weak, so all work accumulated on scorched earth became worthless..
hordes of chinese brought dinos from their servers.. *Put Golem ontop of Quetzal, GAME OVER*
By that moment I felt content with what fun I had with Ark and it was time to free up my hard-disk a bit. :)
It's never easy to step down from the ruler plate when you are one of the alpha tribes, even if it was about 4 months ago I still remember how hard it was to let go of everything I built and tamed since day one.

Trust me, we defeated the spanish, italian, arabs, french, russians, germans, american biggest megatribes and kicked them off the server for good as well as the chinese themselves for the first time 6 monthes ago, and fought them with no problem for a good 4 monthes - once the dinotransfers happened, chinese took over *all the primitive servers*.
So you might think you're tough *BUT*:
No one can stand against formations where 50 people with their inventory open force-feeding each dino in a 60 people crew, with endless meat and stone for food coming from their main servers.
No one can stand against a full server with a handful of comrades, which once they get disconnected it takes a good 20 minutes to come back on because they have people mashing the join button.
No one can stand against a full server attacking you 24/7, while on 6 other servers they are farming/taming dinos and bringing them back in

The mega tribes wiped out all who stood in there path and didn't even bother creating a fair competitive environment for the sake of large scale pvp and guess how pvp ark died when they all announced in there clan youtube channels that the game was dead and there just gonna do a final war. Imagine that. Imagine you destroy everyone else's fun and kill an entire community and say "lol were gonna kill ourselves and ditch this game." And now the pvp servers are all dead and no one even talks about ark anymore. Fucking hell makes me sad to see the pvp aspect die and I hope the people who made it happen to this good game get there just desserts.

Good point, but I don't think it would happen that often. People in these big tribes don't even know each other, they join big tribes because they want everything handed to them on a plate, if they weren't in the same tribe they would likely be enemies.

No, in this case the game is still alive and well, just some people are sore they are losing time and effort in PvP, where you should spend neither time or think your going to have anything every time you log in... I feel worse for the people on PvE that are getting trolled by people kiting things like gigas and rock eles to their base and losing everything.
Let's not forget that this game was supposed to get out of that "Early Access" back in June / July 2016. I still don't consider it dead, but it's still full of bugs and glitches that the developers aren't bother to fix.

When it was all one server you PVP when you need to, there were politics (which were fun, just like game of thrones) that you had to navigate, you couldnt just go attack and expect nothing. Vanilla ark will forever be unmatched. Give us that and keep QOL changes like incubators.
I got wiped recently on Official 365.
They came in from Scorched Earth with Fire Dragons.
The Alpha Tribe here has put the server on lock down but they have a endless supply of dinos and resources and keep coming.
I have since stopped playing and 2 others were wiped who played for months.
I'll maybe revisit this game in a year or so.
Will be focusing all game play on Arma 3 and Star Citizen.

Anonymous On our server there is a group of people called Red Bears who only raid people when they are offline and are a bunch of dicks, they do not own the server a different more trustworthy tribe does and one of the members of Red Bears named Jimmy tried to extort and Argy from us but I managed to track him from the speech bubbles, bola him, and knock him out, he did escape a jump off a cliff and he is still at large due to failed attempts at catching him

I stopped playing ark because it consumed all of my free time and and I was wasting my life playing for months, losing sleep, and for nothing. it was addictive and very fun but the grind took its toll. when we were finally wiped from the server is was more relieved than angry. I was free of the chores of maintaining a large base with many tames. I was finally able to play other games and felt content that our tribe left our mark in the history of our server. I played again recently but only to help a friend construct an impenetrable base. It was glorious and I had alot of fun designing and building in ark. I do love the architecture aspect of ark, and the PVP. I play on xbox and only wish that they invent game modes where u build a base and let people try to break in or be on the other end of it. and also put survival of the fittest on xbone. I don't think the devs are killing ark by letting people transfer, it's more like they're experimenting with it.
I might actually return to the game because of this... the server i used to play on is basically a ghosttown with everyone abandoning it.. its basically playing a singleplayer game at that point... this change would allow me to take my character to another server without starting over...

I never play on the official servers. The community on there (especially the ones ruled by alpha tribes,) is pure cancer. The players on official servers generally care little for other players and the largest tribes with the most players active at any given time always rule with an iron fist. Combine that with the incredibly asinine and broken mechanics that require absurd amounts of play time in order to do (eg. breeding) and you have a recipe for a terrible time on official servers.

On PVE, you can't build to close to another person's objects. I forget the exact number, but lets say its 100 meters. Every object counts, even wooden pillars. So if you want to annoy someone, you can build a pillar 100 meters away from their base, basically not allowing them to expand their base. But because it is PvE, the pillar can never break, so you will never be able to build anything near your base. Its annoying as hell!

We Play on a private server with active admins. None of this concerns us, It's not the death of Ark for a good portion of the player base like us. In fact, We'd never play on official servers. For those of us that have jobs, and lives, and play other games besides ark. The Server settings on official servers are unplayable.

in theory it can still kill private servers too, #1 idiot admins not setting servers settings correctly... #2 as official servers die, admins think game is not worth fleshing out and finishing, so any and all support for unofficial dies too...and while some unofficial servers may survive, they and all the SP worlds will have to play with current bugs and optimization, which frankly leaves ark in a crappy state to play..
Yeah no matter where I try to build or hide, I get raided within a day. So many dinos stolen from me. I don't even tame anything other then a para, anky & dodi now. Just because I know they will more then likely be murder or stolen from me when I log off & I will have to tame them all over again the next day. & the cycle repeats. That's basically what this game is for me. Tame Parasaur Ankylo Dodicurus, build a few turrent's and some ammo. Time to get some sleep. Log on the next day. Not surprised, I'm raided... and now I have to do it all again.

I think you are greatly overstating the case. Public servers are only one subset of people playing the game. I wouldn't play on them anyway because they are generally toxic and the game performance is so poor on them. I don't know if it's improved, but i got one when I first started playing and found the rubberbanding and ragdolling made them unplayable. The performance on a less populated dedicated server is like night and day. You can get your own server on HostHavoc for about $20 US and have complete control of who you play with. Problem solved.

Biggest rule of ark is to never make something in thatch. Someone will always break into something made of thatch.
Biggest rule of ark is dont be a new player unless you got plenty of lube. Me and few friends left 7 days to die for a new survivor game and we still have not found a server to play on. We cant build anywhere, even the foundations get demolished every night, all dinos killed, and we wake up in Tek cages. I've been on 10 servers and 8 of those has spawn cages, while the other two had a tribe running around with c4 destroying every thatch hut they find. My home server for the past two years I think was official server 18. I had seen alphas rise and fall, and the transfer of power happened from time to time. However, there was always a sort of civility about it, a general respect for the other player in some way. After this patch, our server got invaded and wiped by a mega Chinese tribe from a scorched earth server. This was even when transfer was just from scorched to the others. During this week long invasion, there was no civility, no communication, no negotiation. They were wiping our server, and that was that. Even if you were no where near the alpha, they wiped you. I stopped playing afterward for a few months and when I came back, things had settled a little but whereas the alphas used to be helpful and friendly to the lesser tribes, there was now a much more tyrannical alpha in charge. The server got invaded again by some new mega tribe and we were forced to flee with our dinos to a scorched earth server. I hate this patch as it stands and it needs some serious restrictions before every server is dominated by cross-server empires of huge Chinese tribes.

this is whats going on.
im member of alpha tribe one one of Center map official severs. from my point of view server is dying, as game will follow soon to. we r blocked all obelisks and most of drops. that means new players cant take anything from them, thus ruin game for them and putting them in disadvantage. my tribe members get paranoid and kill every new person who joins server, because they think they r scouts. they r also raiding every1 single tribe out there, to prevent infiltration of incoming doom. more often on chats theres crys of smaller tribes asking why we r doing this to them, and it makes me feels their pain, because it reminds me of mine problem when i had tribe on international test server, being constantly harrased by 2 main alpha chinese tribes, who was coming back greffing us every 4-5 hours, not day, hours, without any damn reason, we were very friendly. worst of all, i cant help those guys whos crying, because admins r paranoid. yesterday we had scouting party, we manage to defend, we have multiple enormous bases which can hold up for some time, but with constant resupplies of mega tribe it will be a matter of time when they will be able to overrun us.
from what i have learn so far, heres whats happening:
1. mega tribes (mostly chinese) have blueprints for stuff like 700% melee longnecks and similar
2. they craft those things, then dupping them at obelisk with glitch, which could be still in the game. get enormous amount of crazy good stuff, which can kill most of the birds an other animals in one single shoot.
3. devs of ark knows that, and r trying to fix it with wipes of some official severs whos used those duplicating bug, but wipes was announced in advance, so exploiters moved all shit to other servers whos safe from wiping, thus wipes of bugged servers was in vain.
4. when mega tribe go to crusade first thing what they usualy do is taming titanosaurus or two, than go with them to farm ur bullets and destroy metal defenses and structures, so if u really dont have 2-3 high level gigas, ur screwed (and with recent 2nd giga nerf its even worse)
5. being able to raid alpha tribes gives them even more stuff and make them even more stronger for next server raid
server after server is dying, soon everything will be in ruins, servers empty and lot of hard work ruined.
this game had huge potential, but devs droped all of this to the river, and with their "support" they showed that they even dont give a shit for theirs player base. sad days for ark r coming...

2k plus hrs in the game... then a light came on in my head that said "i could run a real farm and make money with the time and effort I put into this game" This game is too stressful and is full of greedy power hungry people that have never had any power in there real life so they have to freak out in a game... Its a chore and not fun anymore. PvP or PvE. Its a video game and should be fun. So to me ARK is already dead. I gave all my stuff, base. and tamed/bred dinos away to a fellow player and just walked away two days ago and it feels SOOO GOOD. Do the same and find a game that's fun and not a responsibility... You'll be glad u did. I am. nooblets I enjoyed the videos. You are awesome and good at what you do. Hope u can break free and do as I have. Would love to see videos on some FUN games from you.
Thank you for this comment buddy. I woke up this morning to see my base had been raided. I was quite pissed off but at the same time I was kind of glad I now have an 'official' reason to get rid of that responsibility you are talking about. It is so sad to see how a good game can go bust because of a bad decision of its devs.
The raiding component in this game is lost when you can't even defend yourself from being raided nor counter attack. I don't even know where that other player comes from so I'll never get the chance to get my revenge. I am not aware of the reason that encouraged the devs to implement such change, but from what I am seeing on the Internet I am not the only one affected by this. I played in an official PvPvE server with a bunch of friends, they all quit over time. The server was nice as well as the community, so this server crossing thing has really fucked up everything there. Even the Alpha Tribe decided to take all their stuff and move to another server. This is definitely a nice way to make players stop playing Ark.

We WERE alpha tribe in a Schorched Earth server and got wiped the 2nd day the patch came out! We were on that server since day 1 and we re really pissed!

thi sis the primary reason i started on pve in the first place, i dont have time to be on all the time, and frankly i dont want to be in someone elses built buildings ect, i wanted my own and to play the whole game for myself. it got a little dicy when it came to raising a baby giga and taming a quetz, but for tthe most part its a friendly server so soemone else just gave me a lift on there quetz after i failed to grapple my own argent a few times and solo it. i feel a large tribe takes away part of the challenge to begin with.
but it sucks...because we are forced to do pve, which is fun and all, but you are so limited...you cant pick up dinos, which was a very fun and helpful part of ark, you cant build ANYWHERE because dicks like to pillar the entire world, and if you get fucked over somehow, you cant do anything about it. its just sad, idk if i want to play pvp, pr pve anymore
Getting your own PvP server is best you get all of the perks of a PvP server without the bullshit of a overbearing pos “alpha tribe” wish we could build nukes...would totally wipe a couple lol!!! I’m done 😂
not for anything but this has been a problem for island tribes for months. With SE we had a tribe jump into our server(primitive server mind you) with 8+ golems and dozens of dragons. They should link one SE/Island/center and thats it.
This all happened way before this update. They took over a SE server and 4 or 5 where linked to our single island server. We held a single SE server as well but you cant fight/defend 6 servers. This is overall better for the island but now SE players understand the bullshits that been happening.
There needs to be a fix. single linked servers. one center one island one SE as I said before would be perfect. With of course limits to numbers of dinos/delayed timers to bring over anything.
Our answer was we started a server and took over most of the island tribes with us. Still full on pvp but dont have to give a crap about other servers anymore.
Douglas Jackson id say just remove the ability to transfer gear and dinos, that way there's at least a grace period to figure the "new guys" aren't there to make friends
as soon as you allow the zerg to rampage over easier pickings on other servers you destroy any balance that an individual server can reach. EVE online dealt with this by use of stations and 0.0 rated space (smaller guilds can use the safer areas of space and launch raids into contested territory for rare resources). Unmitigated access will indeed kill off any semblance of balance currently in ARK PvP servers.
IMO the only way to balance this would be set servers into groups by age and restrict transfers to within the same time-stamp group only, so 12 month old locked down servers can't raid month old fresh beginning servers. that or severely restrict the transfers into new servers as small dinos and characters only, nothing above lvl 100 or base resource transfer until a server hits 3-4 months old. Even then any large guild will score massive fun harassing other servers with immunity from counter attack and the giants will tend to avoid each other due tot he risk of heavy losses. The devs literally opened the official PvP servers to the screaming hordes of savages in the hope they will play nice and only attack people of equivalent power . . .
I say better to run tiers of official servers, have newb/training servers with limited dino levels (no transfers in allowed only export), standard servers for those with experience/eager-to-fight and challenge servers that are limited in lifespan that reward eventual victors/participants with skins, blueprint machines (I.E. a fabricator that exclusively produces a single high durability flak armour piece) and trophies (that can be stolen traded and prominently displayed) to direct the high end guilds against each other rather than setting the hordes loose on everyone that logs into an official server "because it's funny". Encourage more organised play by focussing the strong on coveting the special traits of the enemy (made near-invulnerable but time-limited like a tamed Titanosaur that can be stolen/captured/subverted) rather than encourage carnage by letting a high level wyvern rider guild slaughter their way across the global server list from an unassailable homestead.
you have some good ideas here especially with the one directional transfers, you can only port dinos to server that are older than the server they came from

diggbe you have to have another Xbox to make your own player dedicated or you can join mine
+diggbe non dedicated means the host is able to play but there's a tether so just join player dedicated they don't have tethers
You basically have to have two consoles. I have a friend that bought a discounted cheap Xbox One to run his server and then uses his Main Xbox One to play on that server. This way, he can invite all his friends into his own dedicated server and everyone that joins can spread out and do their own thing and not have to worry about that tribal boundary thing where you can only go so far from host player.
Just like the old school network gaming!! Buy a base server (cheap xbone) and net work your xbones to it through a hub an hey presto - dedicated gaming without the BS!!

a good way they could do this is by making a set of servers so say a 75 scorched and a 75 island could transfer to each other but not a 74 scorched and a 76 island

I have over 2k hours in official pvp btw.. Ive already had more adventures in the 3-400 hrs on unofficials. Thats really what its about in my opinion.. not about who hits rocks for the longest.

Totally agree, played 750 hrs on official, the alpha tribe wiped us because we bought a giga egg and we went around the fucking clock breeding it for five days, then they came and fucked us in the arse, 750 play hours to the fucking dump and I hadn't even tried one boss or the hard caves, we tamed out forst two quetzal a week earlier with extreamly hard work all for nothing. Putting so much hours in a game that has close to no defenses unless you are alpha and can pop 10 turrets with 400 bullets each a day there is no sense in playing it. I already killed the manticore in a 10x everything server on SE in 180hrs so much more fun we recently got wiped but we are planning a nice comeback because... well you don't have to grind two months to answer to an attack.

thats no good especially for casual players for whom it takes a month to get a metal base and even longer to farm up to do a raid ... if they wiped server regularly the only people who could do anything fun would be the alpha tribes because they can farm a metal base in 2 days

Let me first begin by stating that I do like your videos. You'r one of my favorites and I love your temperament. On this issue, you're way off though. If Ark is dying, it's not the Chinese megatribes who are killing it. New players come onto a server, or folks like myself who might want to casually hop from place to place until they find a home. They'll never get to use the transfer function because the paranoid alpha tribe has blocked all the drops and obelisks. They will never see random blueprints. They won't have access to any of the bosses. These bully alpha tribes have made half the game unplayable. That's why I'm on the verge of quitting. I don't care about invading alpha tribes; I have ZERO problems with those folks. I don't want bully tribes locking down the server, preventing us from enjoying major aspects of the game, and saying "it's for your own good."
I found some MC blueprints the other day from one of the only two drops that weren't blocked on this one map. Best thing I ever owned in Ark. Naturally, someone came in and took'em. It wasn't the Chinese. It wasn't some mythological invading "megatribe." It was the same jerk alpha tribe that had the server mostly locked down. A bunch of petty bullies, no more or less.
See, some of us are used to getting our butts kicked. We're not alpha tribes, never were and never will be. But, when you alpha tribes actually get your butts kicked you want to whine and lock the game up for everyone. "I'm taking my ball and going home." That's exactly what it's like.
The "megatribes" didn't cost me tames and characters that ended up stuck in locked down servers. You jerks did.

Update to this after 4 years, number of mega tribes have dropped, but player skill and experience has increased massively. Newbie tribes are almost non existent at this point on certain maps, especially those controlled by the top alphas or megas. Now no map is safe, there is a huge bottleneck to break through the newbie level, and the easiest way to enjoy official pvp is joining a mega yourself. Only the very top tribes can offer a really good experience.
From my almost 4 year experience on pvp officials, now in one of the top tribes.

ARK had been trash for a long time now. I put 1500+ hours in since it released and although it was trash to start I had hopes for improvement. Private servers are not included in what I think of the game but I didn't buy it to play on a private server. The Devs are garbage, idiots, and more words that I shall refrain from posting. Take a look at how they handled SOTF. Complete idiots.
Do Not Buy this game if you haven't already done so. It is a Zero skill game. Point and click adventure. Hacks/exploits go unchecked until it's far too late, glitches that can destroy 100s of hours work in seconds. Believe it. Save your money and nerves. There are better games out there.

I wanted it to be good, and waited patiently. Even while 120 perfect tames that took Hours to complete were wiped out by random bugs. I bought and played scorched on official, started a tribe (alpha), raised 30+ wyverns (even a perfect 190 fire and found a 190 lightning when I quit). After that was done, I took a step back and looked at the game. Didn't like what I saw or where it was going. Moved on.
On a side note, it is the last day of the anniversary sale for Star Citizen today. They are doing a great job and it looks like the will be into beta sometime next year. If anyone wants to get in and pick up some lifetime insured ships, today's the day. Have fun and take care!

What if they made it so that you could only transfer thing once a month because that would mean that invading alpha tribes would have to with on there first try otherwise the server they invaded and lost against would get there stuff and be able to get stronger defence and as the time gap would be so big the invaders would probably only try once or twice before moving on because they were bored and even if they one they would be venerable to other invaders and will fall eventually as that still allows server wars but makes it more balancedEveryone tell me if this is a good a idea and if like share to help spread this idea!

I would think it would be better having one transfer but as much as they want in that transfer as then the invaders would have to properly protect themselves from raids as they don't have unlimited supplies and the more they lose of that the harder it is to regain than it is for the enemy so they have win with what they are sent otherwise the enemy will be twice as strong if they choose to return

Yeah. This is what lead to me eventually quitting. I don't know what the community was like before but I can tell you that afterwards? It was fucking venomous. The community in the online pvp and even pve servers was just fucking... cutthroat in the most literal way possible. I was a solo player for a long time and managed to fight off a few alpha tribes and kinda outlast them and it was fine but then once I started building up my own tribe and got to an alpha it just allll went to shit. We had people that stole dinos and uploaded them off server, people that were constantly bombarding our server with raiding parties literally every day or other day if it was a slow week from other servers and we fought them off for a month or so but eventually they amassed themselves and came and wiped the entire server in the matter of a few hours. Weeks and months of work just obliterated inside of a couple hours. After that I went solo again for a while and wandered from server to server trying to find some obscure place untouched by the mega tribes and I literally could not find a server that hadn't already been overrun by a mega tribe and then overrun by another mega tribe. And then the PvE megas are just as fucking bad. I literally had everyone in the fucking mega and alpha tribes straight up spewing toxic, rabid malevolence at me for like twenty minutes for simply asking for some basic gear to get myself set up so I didn't have to spend hours on my own doing it and just enjoy the game. The only way to play online is to suck up and kiss the asses of the mega tribes and even then so many of the people in there are legitimate fucking scumbags, and I speak from a brief spell I spent as a member of a mega tribe, that it's literally every stereotype you would relate to common street gangs mugging people and doing drive bys and shit. And that was consistent experience across each and server I roamed. So yeah. This game is on borrowed time and it's going to become one of those things that only a select few actually play anymore and fade into obscurity if it's not that already.

Helped a mega tribe, they milked me for my manpower, kicked me for giving an opinion on how animals should be used, and I hide with the account. They block all the drops so i cannot transfer my character out to a new place. After months of trying to transfer and no drops to be found, I ask for help, only to get handcuffed and caged, a level 95 lost forever.
I hope either two things for this game; That they realize the game needs a clean wiping for every server, or that it stagnates and dies. I hope this game dies. It's poorly optimized and isn't even fun considering the people that inhabit it.
Mega-tribes are never going to recruit a single player to their tribe unless you are part of a big tribe.

To this end, how about they make some Noob servers? You can only join on with less than a level 40 character. Wipe after servers, keep half their servers. Give people plenty of warning, so if you have 4000 hours on the game, you can transfer it to a new server, to at least keep some of your work. Then for the noobs, having completely wiped servers to start afresh on would be the best thing that could happen to the game.

ark pvp has been dead for ages every pvp server iv tried. me and my freinds just get a basic thatch house ( after spending ages to find a decent ish building place not blocked by a foundation) and so level 60 comes and murders use so me move and it happens again.. this is a good thing for me I can bring stuff from my private server and have chance for a change

We had 'refugees' coming to the server looking for a safe place that wasn't destroyed yet. If that happens now, with all the time people have had to build, it would be shitty
