This is the only variation I have found that utilizes a hinge. I like that idea. Nice job.
Thanks so much for your video. I'm 67 and was able to make this fairly quickly!
Thank you young man. My 82yr old uncle wanted a shaving horse, and I just finished building one for him using you plans. He likes to whittle and carve canes in his retirement. You helped make an old man happy!
Great stuff. Is that man still whittling?
@@pmacc3557 yes, he's still doing well and carving and whittling.
I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for the exceptional work you did on the shave horse.
What I appreciated the most is how simple the shave horse is to use and assemble. Your clear and concise explanations made it easy for me to put together and start using right away.
I will not hesitate to recommend you to others in need of your services.
Thank you again for your outstanding work
Subscription and thumbs up
thx 👍
I've been wanting to build one for the past couple months. This is the answer to build a very useful tool, nice and easy. Thank you.
excellent pace, easy to follow, nice personality, and pretty mystery girl in back
I like the video. Rarely I watch a video without ff the video. I watched the whole video on this.
Спасибо парень!Хочу сколотить такую же.Старпёры предлагают пилить бревно пополам и ручной дрелью отверстия сверлить да самим крепёж изготовить,а у тебя всё по делу.
Thank you! 😊 This is very helpful! I've looked at a variety of shave horse designs. Some are more complicated than they need to be.
Been looking at a bunch of shave horses. Yours is the simplest one so far (which is important to me). Think I’ll knock one of these together. Looks like you’re going in the shave horse business! You’re a good lad and it’s nice to see how industrious you are. Most guy’s your age aren’t. Keep up the good work!
Your comment made my day. Thank you.
Thanks for sharing! I was looking at buying a set of plans....and stumbled onto your video Random! As well thanks for sharing the cut list and tools needed.
Thank you again, made a super simple shave horse and now I'm obsessed with my new hobby. thanks for sharing this!
your welcome.
I know this video was from a long time ago, but I just built one today based off your design. Thank you SO MUCH! There is a deep elegance in simplicity and this was by far the most approachable setup I've seen (and did quite a bit of research). It's working so well and it makes me very happy. Cheers!
I like the simplicity of it. Thanks for sharing.
I built this today with scraps I had. It turned out awesome. I would attach a picture but it want let me.
Thanks for your time!!!
Got a bow making class coming up, and your presentation of your shaving is perfect.
My own shaving horse is made with heavy scraps I find 😂
best intredoction i ever seen,so clever guy you are,you great teacher, meny other shoud learn from you, thank you
Just knocked this up in my garage good informative video and good to have all the measurements thanks
Good job. You're very serious and the smiling person in the back ground brought a little chuckle. Thanks for posting.
Absolutely love your simple design for a shave horse!! Plus you are a great teacher! You really should do more videos like this working with wood! Do a simple design for a spring pole lathe? Magnificent video great work! Thank You for sharing!!
thanks. that's a Great idea for a Spring pole leave.
I look forward to making one of those in the future.
Thank you I have been looking at a bunch of videos to build these but yours that has the hinge and the moveable block is the first I have seen thanks I'm definitely going to build one
Simplest plans I've seen yet. Started mine today and all done except the 2 clamp boards. Much easier to do your way to finish. Tomorrow I'll be shaving! Good job!
Thanks. I'm glad you like it.
How refreshing to find an unpolished real video and a simple good design. Well done mate!
thanks :)
Sir, this is best instruction on any video build I have watched ! Thank you so much for the clear and precise instructions . You no doubt will go a long ways with such clear speak and ability to communicate .
A old timer, and it is great to see someone young with such talent today. The best to you were ever life may leads you.
thank you !
I have just finished my first Shave Horse based on your design. It is fantastic and so easy to build. I could not be happier. And all the wood was offcuts and cost me nothing. Thank you so much for posting this. Brilliant.
YOU DID A GREAT JOB! YOU GET THE BARGAIN BASEMENT MODEL, THAT WORKS! KEEP BUILDIN'!
thanks
15 degrees on the legs. Thank you Randy. Good design you have there and I appreciate your effort!
Man oh man i needed this video ,hello from utah
The most detailed description of the parts and best construction explanation!
Thank you
I have watched a five to seven videos this week (during a Texas Ice storm) on how to build this simply and cost effective. I already have the scrap material in my garage/workshop based on the cut list in the video notes. Well done, nice presentation. Very impressive. And I will make a horse based on your description this week most likely.
Followed your instructions and now I have an awesome shave horse. I saw one online for almost $500! Did this for under $30. Thank you so much for such a detailed video. Your presentation was right on. Have a great day.
:)
This is fantastic, my husband and I have almost finished building ours. I'm glad that you had that 15 degree note in the comments for the angle of the leg cuts. We only had one problem, as the seat ended up being warped slightly: I suggest people make sure that part is as straight as possible. We are fixing the warp by wetting the wood and putting weight (bricks) on both ends so that it straightens out. Your instructions were clear and precise. Thank you!!
Finished it. I just glued a piece to the leg that was off the ground because of the warped wood.
It is great! Works wonderfully. Thanks again.
Good video. I just made a shave horse out of scrap including 2x6 and 2x4 lumber plus old 3/4 inch pipe for hinge but if I'd seen this video first I'd have made one like this.
You have a talent presenting a how to video.
Thanks
Best video! I can take notes easily and your dimensions are easy to understand. By the way your "model" in the background is adorable. Sweet smile, modest clothing, bare feet. Who doesn't love her?
thank
Very clever design my friend! Elegant in it's simplicity.
thanks.
Thanks for the video. Went to Lowes picked up the materials this morning the made the shave horse this after noon !
awesome!!!
I'm a T25 man myself. If I ever do a repair on a deck or some other rebuild and I see phillips head screws I begin to question my existence
yeah T25 all the way.
@@randomasidy9266 I pity the man who uses Phillips screws and hasn't discovered the ecstacy and absolute liberation of the T25. When I'm in the hardware store and see Phillips screws I can't help but to spit and knock the display over. I would invite the pitiful user of the Phillips to, after they are done hopelessly trying to drive that stripped screw into their abused project in unblissful ignorance, to find the courage to step outside that frigid cave and enlighten yourself. They used spend whole days fighting to cut wood with worked stones then later the axe then the chainsaw. Its the same with the primitive Phillips head_y
Terima kasih ilmu nya sehingga sy jd mengerti, thank and jasamu abadi
Nice job. Great to see a young man working with tools, not playing video games!! Well done
Cheers 🇨🇦
thanks
Thanks very much for the easy instructions --I've looked at several videos but yours is the ONLY video with exact instructions -- I appreciate this so much .
thanks.
Just made one right now and worked AMAZING! Thank you for the video......SUBSCRIBED!! 😃👍🏻
Best and simplest shave horse plans I've seen. This is the one I'm going to make. Tnx's
taught school for 39 years and it took about half that to get so I could lay out presentations and anticipate questions as well as you have done
thank you.
ok thank you guy you did a great job. could tell you were nervious but you did a great job. i have been a carpenter for over 20 yrs. id love to have you on my crew any day done well
thank you.
Great easy design. I saw some of these at a boat museum in Gananoque, Ontario where they were being used to teach kids to build paddles and boat bits. I’ll be making one from pallet wood.
Just made one, works AMAZING! Thank you for the video.....SUBSCRIBED!!
awesome.
Keep up the great work bud Love your channel
I was looking for something like this. Your's is about the 4th video I found on shave horses. I did not want to go into the woods and start by cutting down a tree with my bare teeth and then use knives to whittle all the pieces and so on. Thank You! and Thank You for the cut list!
I have watched several shave horse videos your was the best and the easiest to build keep up the good work and may God bless you
thank you !
Richard Murphy great job....
This was just what I was looking for, an effective and straight forward design. The demo was easy to follow with just the right amount of info, very helpful, thanks.
love the fan sitting in the corner, keep up the work, nice simple horse.
thanks
Nice, I've been looking for the simplest design, cheapest and easiest to make and you win! Thanks.
Good to see all the pieces for the project layed out and explained at the beginning of the video..nice job buddy.
thanks :)
Just finished mine! Very happy with the way it turned out. I used all scrap all scrap wood so I had to hand plane everything down by t man it looks amazing. Time for some linseed oil! Thanks for sharing this
Just finished making the shavehorse. Your instructions are terrific. Thank you so much!
Actually more complicated than a traditional shave horse. More pieces. It just seems simple to the lay person because this clean lumber can be bought at their hardware store in town. Looks very kosher. Great job
Can't wait to make this. This will be my winter project. Thanks bud
You're welcome.
Built this yesterday out of econo-studs. Great instructions, easy build. Thanks for sharing!
Nice job! Your instructions are clear and to the point. Your design is simple, sound and elegant. Thanks for sharing.
thx for the clear dimensions, piece by piece, best vid yet on construction for this type of horse I've seen and I've been watching a lot! thx again
Just made one today, thanks for the information.
Love it! Nice job. Thanks. Going to go it this afternoon.
Great job explanation of every detail. I will be mAking one of these soon.
Nice. I’m getting started making one from logs that I already have. But I love how simple this is, and I think I have most materials lying around. I’m going to make this just to have a shave horse right away. Thanks for this.
Built this the other day. Directions were easy to follow. The only thing I would change on the next one I build would be to make the base about 10 inches longer. I’m not as skinny as you so I could use a little extra space. I also need to find something soft to sit on. 😬
I just made this. It was a piece of cake to do. I had most everything laying around. All I needed was a 2x8, the 2 pivot screws and a hinge. Cost about 10.00 total. Thanks!
that's Awesome !!!
Just made this, Modified it a bit for storage purposes. Works great!! Thanks!
Back from my local Lowes and cost for lumber and hardware was a mere $21.00!!! Can't beat that! Any thing left over give it to your best bud or gal!! Thanks again Ramdom
your welcome!!!
Nice job...looks fairly easy to build and appears to be very affective. Very well done. Thanks for the dimensions !!!✌
bords might to thick but add charter but use chain saw and tree dont want cost cost of fill chain saw up. that work on right now just figure what style want try do.
Great presentation and very helpful with the measurements and the process. It should be good to know that something you created two years ago, still finds its way into creation. Thanks man
Very easy to understand. Built mine in one afternoon. Going to use it to shave Native American oars.
nice !
Thanks for the simple instructions. Been wanting one for some time, now I can build one.
Thanks you just made it easy
Thanks for this...very well presented
Just built one of these today, works great. Thanks for the video!
Thank you
This is so simple, yet the best shave horse video I have seen.
Later today i will be making one .
Kind regards
Keith
Great Video easy to follow instructions I would love to see more video along this line.
awesome thanks
Thanks again for the detailed instruction just built mine, beats spending a few hundred on something like that.
Just made it!
Thanks man !
super cool. you'er welcome
Great video. Thank you
That's a great design and really well explained. Good job. Thank you for sharing.
I love the girl's smile. she's so cute
Nice job! Just finished putting mine together, modeled after yours, with just a mod or two. I used dowels as pivots for the clamp, and used a single 2x4 in the front of the horse. Would've cost under $20, had it not been for the fact that I had to buy screws!
that's awesome.
Awesome. Thankyou for all the details, tips & measurements. I am going to make this following your design.👍🏻😉👌🏼
Going through my lumber pile today,I think I've got all the stuff needed to build this for free!!
Very well-done video. Watched several times, made some notes & now ready to build one. Thank you for creating this helpful video! Looking forward to seeing other woodworking videos that you make available.
Thanks a Lot.
First time I understand the whole thing !!! I suscribed...muchas gracias de México. Abrazo.
Thanks for showing how and sharing that, well done it really simple!
Thanks so much for the cut list. Great response!
Great instructions referencing the OVERALL lengths and angles. (even though it's in the only country's measurements that is still in imperial) ;-) Keep up the good work mate !! (Yes, I'm from Australia)
Very good a nice simple shave horse thank you for the tutorial

I like it. I like it a lot.
Nice project, thanks for all the information.
Good job young fella!!....Out of all the videos on shave horses I've watched, I'm gonna build your's! Simple And Won't break the bank!! Also if need be, you can break it down for taking it on the road or storing it!!!! Now build a Native American bow on it!!!
