Clark's teammates were practically no help at all, couldn't hit shots, would not run and left her trapped by double teams. And, the officials chose to call nonexistent fouls to slow her down in the first quarter. Given what she was up against, I'd say she did extremely well.

Their draft system where they draft college players and start the pro season within 4 weeks sets up rookies for failure. This league is ridiculous. Men get 7 months between draft and the start of the season. A 150lbs college student can't muscle a 40 year old that weighs 240lbs. The college student is better, but the old timer can just throw weight around to knock them around and injure them. This is why the league cannot improve, draftees are set up to fail so older players can keep the league in the 90s. It makes the wnba slow and uninteresting.

I don’t watch WNBA. I just like a lot of us. I only watched for 1 person. Caitlin Clark. Let’s be honest she had a bad game. Playing probably one if not her worst game in her career and still scoring 20? She’ll get better but her team will need to figure out how to better set her up for success. I only learned about this lady a few months ago and had been a fan since. She’s just too good not to bounce back from this.
Her team is bad. They got the #1 draft pick for a reason. On offense they just stood around, they never really tried to get open.

@Lyaworski123 they not only double teamed her, but it felt like the sun treated that game like a playoff game, honestly. The rest of the wnba players are out for blood against Caitlin, and it's not going to get easier. If I was the coach of the fever, I'd be changing the offense to suit Caitlins strengths, and I'd try to run the offense through Nalyssa Smith more since she seems to be their most consistent player thus far, so they need to force teams to guard her, and then that'll open up more scoring opportunities for Caitlin and the rest of the team.

Yea she had a solid first game. Once she gets use to the more aggressive style she will be set. I think she’s going to really work on her defense too. Out of any pro athlete in my lifetime Caitlin has had the biggest impact on said sport. The WNBA is now main stream, and a major sports league. She has brought the eyes now it’s up to the other players to step it up. Which I’m sure they will.

The Fever needs a better coach. She is out of her league against a top team in the WNBA. The Fever looked like they never faced a top ranked defensive team before. All offence looked clogged up and no room to play. Is there no film for her to go over with the players, if so its not done well enough. Connecticut shut them down badly. And to me it's the coach's fault. I mean even working a proper screen seemed liked it was high school level.

@@seanobrien2306 I could have said more. Like, how I don't think coach Sides can evaluate an opponent and strategize a plan. Each team played has a different approach to the game and its tempo. Basically, it's the old adage, she is playing checkers while her adversary is playing chess.
This team finished their last last season. Last night they play the best Defensive team in the wnba. CC can't get away with the push of to get to the Basket. Let see what she can in the next game.

Angel reece played tonight and didn't score anywhere close to 20 points. And... she couldn't shoot a free throw to save her life. It was priceless. Cheryl Swoops couldn't brag on her and she was calling the game.
People forget that she was drafted to the worst team in the league last year. Her box score line is shockingly comparable to other debuts by all-time greats/prospects with a ton of hype.
For example, Wemby had 15 pts & 5 TO's in 23 mins in his debut, & that kid is gonna be unreal (was unreal for stretches this year).

Remember also that the IND/NY game was on simultaneously with the Fever's game. Imagine if there wasn't an NBA playoff game on at the same time, wow! ...but not surprised.
Being a Pacers fan, I chose the Pacers over the Fever. However, I did watch 4 Fever possessions before turning to the Pacers for the rest of the game. In those for possessions, Clark had 3 turnovers, in back to back possessions. One she passed it too high. Another where her teammate seemed slow reacting to a pass and couldn't get to it. The third was a lazy pass by Clark. Of the 3, I only considered the lazy pass her fault as the other 2 were the fault of her teammates being too slow footed.

I was about to pay $10.99 to watch her on ESPN2, just so I could write what I saw more than what I could have read afterwards. When I was reading to signup then cancel before the month ended, I noticed it was ESPN+, which I had on Hulu. I enjoyed the game more than most of the NBA games. The Sun defense was not joke giving Clark hard fouls, double teaming some triple. After that first quarter, Clark started to do some playing maybe having time sitting to think of better ways to play. Taurasi it seems got 23 points in the later game, but her team lost too. Playing against Wilson's team that won by 9 points I think 89-80. This was great news, thanks.
